      Great video as always, my bell icon is on only for your channel.
      But I want to say something,
      Pep's Barca did not play, tiki-taka, tiki-taka is keeping possession for the sake of keeping it. Pep always played "juego de posicion". Peps wants the keep the ball to play this style. There is stark difference in these two.
      Anyways great video, you surely deserve a lot more subscribers.

      Please dont call it tiki taka :D
      Barcelona looks bad on field and dont give me hope that hey can win CL. Struggling to score and own goal as top scorer in CL is not promising. Of course Dembele comeback could change that and maybe one player in winter transfer window.

    One thing barca fans don't give Valverde credit for is fixing the defence. Barca had conceded 37 goals in league last season and at least another 20 in the champions league, and another 15 in the CDR. So far this season only 8 in all competitions in 23 games. Not only the defence but I wonder what kind of training he put Ter Stegen through, he's been a wall this season.

      TheFNProductionz yep, he may have lost 5-1 on aggregate to Madrid but I don't blame him at all for it. He had only played 3 friendlies and the team was reliant on Neymar who had just left. Nobody would've won those games. Barca currently undefeated and it's December, that's a great run. He's clearly doing something right.

    They are unbeaten this season in Liga and UCL, I watched all their games and they are not dominant like they used to be but one thing stands out: defence. It’s the best we have seen in years. If suarez catches up his old form they will be really dangerous after dembele is back but for now they are pretty balanced but weaker “on the paper” compared to other teams like psg and city.

    • @azinwiestanley3407
      @azinwiestanley3407 Před 6 lety +3

      Is this defense really that outstanding, mate? I really think you make a great point there, about the stats and suarez's form. Is this yerry mina deal, a potential one or just a media rumour?

    • @sammulder9532
      @sammulder9532 Před 6 lety +26

      well the defene is outstanding compared to previous years. Umtiti is definitely in top 5 CB category but he is injured and time will tell if the defence will hold out or not. Well there are tons of rumors out there but Barca definitely need a solid "playmaker" in centrefield so messi can focus more on scoring instead of doing everything by himself. Tons of money spent on useless or sub par players such as arda, gomes, alcacer, vidal, digne and denis suarez put the team in really difficult situation both financially and tactically.

    • @ogpunkbuster
      @ogpunkbuster Před 6 lety +12

      Sam Mulder ive seen psg and man city play, they attack a lot but leave tons of space. On lesser teams thats fine but with messi there space is deadly, and barca defense has improved.But where barca struggles is the park the bus teams like chelsea and althetico those will give the most problems i think.

  • @Messilegend1000
    @Messilegend1000 Před 6 lety +90

    Messi has become a free.to.do.player. This means that while the game goes on according to Barcelona's usual tactics - which are optimal yet minimal, Iniesta and Messi can bring in their ample experience and creativity, without worrying about the attacking or defensive solidarity and conformity. With Iniesta being remarkable in the first half, they can create a burst of chances and versatile. In the second half, Messi is consistently pragmatic while everyone else seems to tire out. This gives Barcelona the edge between 1-45, and 75-90 minutes - which is clear if you go by the stats for these periods for the duo and for Barca.

    Valverde and Paulinho have both been personifications of the current transition of Barcelona and this video encapsulates that fact. Their pragmatism and all-round balance has allowed Barca to continue to succeed without Neymar/Xavi, with an ageing Don Andres and without having to over-complicate tactics or formations. Considering the conflicts between the fans and the board their embrace of these two figures have so far proven to be a very prudent move.

  • @jordan_0914
    @jordan_0914 Před 6 lety +137

    Valverde will most likely switch back to a 4-3-3 once Dembele is fit. They don't really have any good wingers at the moment, Deulofeu and Vidal haven't exactly performed great. He's using what he can at the moment and it's a 4-4-2 What he came up with.

    • @rickyrickalvous2982
      @rickyrickalvous2982 Před 6 lety +4

      4-4-2 with Dembele as an aggressive winger on the right
      Or a 4-2-3-1
      Iniesta tucking in on the left, Dembele on the byline
      Sergi Roberto being inverted (he can play central mid)
      Alba doing his thing
      Busquets and Paulinho in central mid
      Messi #10 role
      Suarez lone striker

    • @MrAlpaca19
      @MrAlpaca19 Před 6 lety +6

      Ricky Rickalvous Paulinho wouldn't fit that well with dembele in because of his high attack work rates, maybe someone like Denis Suarez or Rakitic to stay,back with busquets could do the trick

    • @rickyrickalvous2982
      @rickyrickalvous2982 Před 6 lety +2

      I think Busquets in deep playmaking like Fernandinho and Iniesta in the no.8 role and Paulinho as a box to box, doing the running to open up players while Messi in no.10 should offer a lot of fluidity at the centre adding to that Dembele and Alba offering width and suarez disrupting the defensive line
      Coming to your point I said Sergi Roberto as an inverted fullback could stay with busquets (because he can play central mid) and that creates a square four at the back with the two central ball playing defenders

    • @jordan_0914
      @jordan_0914 Před 6 lety

      Ricky Rickalvous I think what Valverde will do is just switch to the 4-3-3 because it worked so well. He had Barca playing Very well. So think it'll be a
      Semedo Pique Umtiti Alba
      Roberto/Rakitic Busquets Iniesta
      Dembele Messi Suarez.

    • @rickyrickalvous2982
      @rickyrickalvous2982 Před 6 lety +2

      That's ok though I think we should change tactics more often
      A good example is against Atletico, when we switched to 4-2-3-1 we were able to get some players between their midfield and defensive line (which I think is always the key to breaking down teams that park the bus) and we equalised and almost won that game

    @tito football You forgot to mention on Valverde the Europa League final with Espanyol..Great achievement
    Also i believe the 4-4-2 was something of an ''emergency'' of the absent of Dembele and other traditional wingers/inside forwards. When Dembele recover from his injury , i think 4-3-3 will be again his preference

    • @jordan_0914
      @jordan_0914 Před 6 lety +8

      Ane Ro the 4-4-2 is sort of an "emergency" because of Dembele's Absence. Valverde tried to stick with the 4-3-3 but didn't quite work out with Deulofeu at RW. Valverde has switched to a 4-4-2 because of the lack of quality on the wings.

    The first time I heard 442 formation being mentioned alongside Barcelona's team. No wonder this guy is out of the team, I know 442 is a good defensive formation because it can be very compact in the middle of the pitch and can stop the opposition from playing in the lateral areas of the opposition pitch - and with it comes the problem of building an attack, but with enrique's defense they can still play counter because of the physicality of the midfield and suarez are still adequate not to mention he still utilizes barcelona's way of playing high pressure and his 343 diamond are definitely one of the most entertaining formation to watch - just look at his 3-2 win in bernabeu against real.

    • @SirBloxy
      @SirBloxy Před 2 lety

      A 4-3-3 wouldn't possibly work. You need 2 wingers, and who did they have? Sure, Messi's a great player but somehow I don't think he's able to cover both sides. Dembele was injured for the entirety of that season and Deulofeu certainly didn't help. Valverde wanted to switch back to 4-3-3 asap, he was just waiting for Dembele (who, to this day, still suffers from frequent injuries).

    What side do you think has the most chances of winning the Champions League this season, based exclusively on the potential of their talent and tactical prowess? This Barca side is solid and it has Messi of course, but I'm in doubt as to whether it has a ceiling within that solidity whereas other emerging teams (M. City, PSG) seem to be on the rise and show higher potential.

    Rakitic sketch looks more like Art Garfunkel. And Messi looks more like Grady from Sanford and Son. What will he do when Dembele is back online? Messi-Suarez telemetry up front seem to be struggling a bit and Alba is an average crosser and certainly not an effective striker when he gets the odd chance. Paco has done quite well up front for not being a star player.

    Valverde should have been a success at Barcelona. I mean, Barça always got results except in few, crucial unfortunate instances but his conservative style was 'boring.'
    Barcelona fans wanted beautiful, flamboyant football.
    The wanted to relive the Tiki Taka from Johan Cruyff's era and the sexy exchanges between Xavi-Messi-Iniesta-Busquets and the back of the net with Pep Guardiola screaming instructions on the sidelines.
    Barcelona is owned by the fans and the board succumbed to the pressure of "Valverde Out" and ever since then, Barcelona has been devoid of good football they sought and barely even got satisfactory results.
    Lionel Messi covered the crevices in the team with his otherworldly prowess and the club has been in shambles ever since he left.
    Ronald Koeman was fired this evening. The second after Ernesto Valverde and Barça was barely satisfying under him as well. It was tough. Non evident tactics, picking on players, making bogus comments in the press, Titanic defeats; name it - Culers had all the drama.
    Xavi with good testimonies and not so much experience is the favorite to take over at the Nou Camp. There might not be surprises when he doesn't meet the mark; Barcelona has deeper issues than tactics, selecting the lineup, replying the press and whatever it is that coaches do.

      Personally, I wish one the 4-4-2, our stretched mid-fielders and full-backs could play more like those of spurs in the the spurs tie against RMA. If we can play like that especially during the El classico tie and may be Vs CHE, then I'd ❤

    Anyone else think Sven should have used a similar system with England? Lampard or gerrard could play that Paulinho role making late runs both would get plenty of goals and play a sitting midfielder behind the 3 scholes, lampard/gerrard and beckham? Scholes was played too wide during that time but he could do that iniesta role and beckham drifted in all the time anyway and then Owen in the Suarez role and rooney dropping off like he did for united in a similar role Messi plays in this 442.
    Robinson, Neville, Ferdinand, terry, cole. Beckham, carrick, gerrard, scholes, rooney, Owen. Much better than the rigid 442 he used usually didn't play to key players strengths

    So far according to attacking stats, they're good inside the box but has yet to show capacity to score outside the box. How the elite clubs exploit Barca's weakness has become an intriguing tactic rather than other teams. Will Chelsea fare against them?
    Also, they're almost identical as City's in terms of scoring more inside.

    Valverde will switch back to 4-3-3 when true wingers like Dembele becomes available again. It was clear since the first few games such as the US friendlies and the supercup disaster he used 4-3-3. But it proved to be very vulnerable, and with Dembele out, he adopted a 4-4-2 so that Barca can at least win games even though it had to be done pragmatically. At the moment I think he has done wonders for a squad that is on its last legs with a thin bench, let's give him praise for that

    Perfect analysis of Valverde's barca as seen this season.
    He showed that he could figure out advanced tactical problems and solutions, by moving Messi to the number '10' role and ditching the 4-3-3 formation that was no longer suitable for barcelona's key players. Something that Luis Enrique is not good enough to realise.
    I now see why johan cruyff saw him as the best choice after Guardiola.

    Once they sign Coutinho they'll probably set up like this (4-2-3-1):
    Ter Stagen
    Semedo Pique Umtiti Alba
    Rakitic Busquets
    Dembele Messi Coutinho
    Suarez
    Since Iniesta is getting old I expect him to slowly but surely be phased out from the starting line up especially after Coutinho comes. I still feel Barça should go for Verratti and play him in place of Rakitic though, I just feel like it's an upgrade which they need especially when someone like Iniesta starts getting benched

    A replacement or another option to Messi is needed Coutinho should be that
    but Barcelona were deadly because they had Eto'o, Messi, Xavi and Iniesta and Alves
    multiple players in different positions in their prime that could change the game even Pedro
    You can count the number of influential players on one finger
    I believe that is why Roma beat them.
    If Pep had worked with Zlatan, Barca would have been more dominant
