But their main rivals Atleti and Madrid have had 2 bad/terrible seasons which is why we won the league with the fewest points in recent years. At the same time, the team collapsed in intense european games, against opponents with quality midfield unlike ours and superior organization.
As for messi, I cant count how many games were win because of his brilliance, in la liga and UCL. "Great player" isnt a fair description. Barca are more reliant on him than ever.

Barca lost la liga title to Madrid before Valverde came in. He's not a bad manager, he got unlucky in two games which destroyed everything for him. Having that said, his tactic is not for barcelona and he should leave. He could be a good manager for clubs like Chelsea and atletico Madrid.

Valverde made Enrique's Barca more like Mourinho's Man Utd. Barca needs a coach that acts like a leader. This season, the only true leader was Messi. He has been the savior of Valverde many times. Although I think Barca would be better of without Valverde, I think that the board has also a huge part in Barca's season. They didn't buy any (good) back-ups for Suarez, Alba, Busquets,... so they didn't feel the pressure to perform well. It's remarkable how many big chances Suarez missed last season, due to lack of fitness it seems. This summer they need to put in a lot of money to save this club and prepare for the exit of Messi.

Absolutely. It was a bit of a tactical mess when he was on the right and Semedo kept overrunning him. Semedo is fast, but really useless on attack. Unnecessary because Dembele is quicker and better at crossing and creating chances.

Very accurate video. I would have liked to see a manager like Ten Haag (sorry if I misspelled it)from Ajax coming to the club. From what I have seen from him and his team this season, they played an attractive type of football but I would like to see more of him at Ajax first. I had also thought of others like Laurent Blanc, or Setien from Betis.
However, the biggest relief for me would be seeing Valverde and Bartomeu leave as well as Rakitic being relegated to the bench or even sold. It is not only about winning in Barcelona, you have to do it with the manner. That's what him and the board seem to have forgotten.

Another excellent video. Just wanted to add a few points to what you said.
1. Luis Enrique in the first half of his first season couldnt decide on a starting 11 consistenly until the falling out with Messi. That changed everything and from then on out he selected the strongest 11 onto the treble.
2. Every year under Luis Enrique Barca lost 1 title. Went from a treble in the first year to a CDR in his last year. His insistence on Andre Gomes was enfuriating as well.
3. Valverde initially did a great job of restoring Barcelona which was facing decline after losing Neymar and getting thrashed by Madrid but that was it.
4. Valverde has not made a single player better under his management. His player development is horrendous. Want proof? Look at Coutinho when he first came to Barca and look at him now. Look at Rakitic who still cant turn with the ball when he recieves it with a defender on his back. Busquets has been uncharacteristically sloppy this year as well and Suarez is a shadow of what he was under Luis Enrique. Suarez's decline has been evident.
5, As you pointed out Valverde offers NO in game solutions. He had NO EXPLANATION in both calamatous losses to Roma and Liverpool. His calm demeanor im sure the players enjoy so they supported him but its not necessarily the best for the team.
6. They are a shadow of Guardiola's team as when pressed they couldnt even advance the ball past their own half. Liverpool and Roma did the EXACT same thing to Barcelona and there was 0 adaptation.
7. Under Valverde there is more Messidependencia than I have ever seen. Whenever Barcelona have won the treble they had a much more balanced and diverse goal scoring amongst the forward line. Now Messi is the ONLY threat.

When Enrique came teams were pressing harder and higher up the pitch compared to before. This led to a of player number parity at the opposition defence. With MSN leading the line, it was only logical to use ter-stegen's accurate long passing to get the ball to the attackers when under pressure.

you pointed out almost every mistake valverde did but you left a big one. Dembele was definitely performing well and sorted barca's width issues. Wen dembele was not available coutinho took his position. Every coach would have done that considering his skill. Valverde actually did well until the last 2 months of the season. Valverde played arthur behind coutinho. arthur was so comfortable playing that side and with busquets. also rakitic was so good playing behind messi. The only mistake valverde did was starting vidal instead of arthur. rakitic was forced to play out of position. he saw rakitic struggling against that spurs away game on that left side position. We won the first leg against liverpool rakitic performed really well but still he was struggling at times. salah hurt that left side so much. he never fixed that issue. in the second leg he should have benched coutinho and played another midfielder to backup vidal cuz vidal was forced to play out of his position due to our pressing. he also lacked team chemistry. busquets openly said he was comfortable playing with arthur. valverde made mistake by benching him. barca never lost a game with arthur busquets and rakitic in midfield cuz that was well balanced. I think the fans hate valverde cuz he did so well until the crucial time. He did the same mistake even in copa del rey finals. starting vidal has never worked for us unless he had another midfielder to back him up. vidal must be used as an utility man. hope valverde fixes this issue cuz buying players like greizmann won't help much unless he fixes the lineup. Barca has bought really talented players they never used them to their full potential.

1- Sergio Roberto has played the most important minutes instead of semedo, and that is why the portuguesse wants to leave Barça
2- Valverde hasnât promoted at all any La Masia players. Only Carles Aleña has played in more or less important games. The participation of the rest of them has been so little, that cannot be taken into account
I agree on both points. But Semedo/Roberto was 50/50 so I just gave him benefit of the doubt

It's more how Barcelona devolved after Valverde took over. His playstyle is too defensive in today's football, also the lack of flexibility and relying too much on core players like Messi and Rakitic are the reasons we are not really succeeding.

Amazing video. As a hardcore Barça fan, there are a couple things I disagree... I mean, they are technically true, but I think a bit more context was needed. Luckily, it was all in the ending of the video :P
1st, of course not everyone was happy with L.E. but I think the overwhelming majority supports him.... but do you know who hated him? the press, both in Barcelona and Madrid.
Also a huge criticism against Valverde is how he doesn't use La Masia, and this time we know we have great players. Aleñå, Riqui Puig, Abel Ruiz.... all solid prospects, and they could earn some more minutes. We even loan out solid players that we could use as a backup, like Cucurella (who they want to sell now) or Oriol

Valverde is a horrible coach and if he stays for the up coming season us fans will have more heartache. His style of play does not suit Barça, along with his bad man or player management and crappy football game tactics, he is one of Barça's worst coaches ever.

Too simple. You often jump to conclusions after seeing one mistake. La Liga (starting few years back) is more competitive due to the liberalization of broadcast revenues. Lower accumulated points is expected. Also, the former manager is a victim of the neymar transfer shock, aging players, and the fans' over-romanticization of pep's tiki taka.
