I happily rode along on this trip three times so far. Each time, I felt myself smiling broadly. When the train came upon that nicely decorated tree, my spirits surged. Please accept my sincere thanks for this posting.
ever since i was a little kid, i have always wanted to drive a train, now at 17 yrs old im going blind, I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO DRIVE A TRAIN, EVER. :( but i love you videos, and the pov perspective makes me feel like i am driving :)
I remember driving in one of these in the middle of -8 degree weather, some ass hole broke the heater, fucking ice cycles hanging from the fucking independent brake handle.
Had a brand new GE locomotive Christmas eve of 2013. Heater took a crap 30 miles into our 220 mile trip. It was -28° The sun felt so amazing when it finally came up.
A GREAT video. I of course love Trains especially cab view holiday snow as this. Passing the Christmas tree in the small town was great. To think these guys get paid for doing a holiday run like this on top of it is envious. Good stuff & thx for posting!
The first 20 seconds had me thinking this train ride would be on the same tracks that stradle Lake Champlain in New York state. The view from the passenger seat as the train passes by barely-wide enough passages for the train to pass between the rock walls proves quite dramatic. Can you mention where this particular clip was captured?
yeah, the engine noise is really infrasonic, its VERY damaging to the ears, you don't notice it but at the end of the day, all you hear is that SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSST In your ears....... unless you're the lucky ones that get the whisper cabs like he said, it sucks, but tis worth the time if you put it in :)
It's not that well insulated, unless you're in one of the very few "whisper" cabs. It just gets drowned out by the noise of the locomotive's diesel engine and air compressors that flood the compartment from behind.
Worse is the whisper cabs that are silent, EXCEPT for the wipers. Then there's the cabs that are so loud, you can't hear the radio, each other, and have to open the window to hear if the bell/whistle is blowing. Add in the insistance on running most trainst with only 0.6-1.0 HPT where you're in notch 8 the whole way on top of that. Believe me, I know just how annoyingly loud the engines can get. And I thoroughly enjoy the silent cabs if/when I get them.
SOU6900 if you don’t know already, that horn is hooked up to a solenoid Valve; an automatic valve which gives out the same constant rate of psi. These types of valves usually produce that wheezing, leaky sound. If I️t was a manual valve, you would be able to control the amount of air that reaches the horn.
Also depends on where the horn is mounted... Some are on top the cab, some are midway back the body, and depending on if it's a solenoid or trettle valve, the horn itself can sound different.
Lol I've had plenty of crazy idiots jump in front of me even within a hundred feet of the grade crossing it's ridiculous, scares us when you do it.... People don't care anymore.
John 14:6 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 3:7 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Romans 3:23 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Job 12:7-9 7 But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee: 8 Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee. 9 Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this? Romans 10:9-10 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. JOHN 3:18 “He that believeth in Him is not condemned; but He that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
There's something magical about trains in snow at night.
1st time I am going to say this.... I wish the video was longer!!!

Thanks for a truly enjoyable train cab ride. I would like more details, but still feel lucky to have the privilege of riding along with you.

Matt Patt From your use of "fuck", you must be seasoned. 😂

epic vid...
it looks like it NS with headlights at the top of the cab hitting the nose, and maybe a Dash 9 or ES44 or AC unit
I could have watched this for an hour.
2:11 just a couple underappreciated workin stiffs keeping the world running.
Wow that was three out of the Polar Express

that's why you are given hearing protection.........
Yeah but I'd rather hear my locomotive running and the radio...
true but don't you want to keep your hearing tooo........
Hope the heater was working
omg that is so sad :(((((((((
Hope you can adjust well
like a magic!
+mkrp4 Mama mia!
I'm surprised how well insulated the cab is- the horn is BARELY audible from inside. I'm sure not all cabs are like that!!

alexander1485 hes the conductor maybe
AwesomeDesertTrains ...
@GreatSongwriters Pulaski, Virginia
What line is this?
@apl1031 PRe determined map or GPS I would assume. maybe a sign post
Are the cabs of these locomotives sound proofed? I noticed I couldn't hear the horn as you approached all the crossings.
+Ben Schwarz i could must be your hearing
I think it's also because I didn't have headphones on when watching it, I heard them after watching it a second time with them on.
Ben Schwarz I think they have some sound proofing but the engine is so loud that it's hard to hear
Shame video is so short!
Good video but way too short !
Need more
thumbs up this video its all it took to subscribe to your page
Was the horn struggling to blow or was that just what it sounds like in the cab
My Microsoft Train Simulator program can be set for winter and snow... and it looks just like this!
Great video and Thanks.
where was this at like which state
So the camera is mounted on the train and NOT falling over???
What state is this in
Are there lights inside the cab?
Prrrdy...
think you need a new wiper blade
Where is this ?
Do horn valves usually sound like that?
SOU6900 if you don’t know already, that horn is hooked up to a solenoid Valve; an automatic valve which gives out the same constant rate of psi. These types of valves usually produce that wheezing, leaky sound. If I️t was a manual valve, you would be able to control the amount of air that reaches the horn.

great video too bad not HD
What locomotive are you in???
ES44AC.
Why does he have to keep sounding the horn? People will have stopped with the barriers being down/light flashing.
Ricardo Testa Thanks for the explanation :) I'd simply thought he was obsessed with the horn ;)
Acording to Federal railroad Admistration rules, no matter if the crossing has gates (barries) or not, the train still has to sound its horn.
Are you kidding?
WomackPhotoKCMO no, hes not, its regulation and its the law
Lol I've had plenty of crazy idiots jump in front of me even within a hundred feet of the grade crossing it's ridiculous, scares us when you do it.... People don't care anymore.
What kind of locomotive was this?
Probably a SD70ACE
GRE 2057 thanks
Brant Bouslog your welcome
GRE 2057 No its a GE. GE has the handles on the nose like the video shows. And the horn would be very loud if it was a SD70ACe
+Justin Voelker abother railfan.... Stfu
Is it warm inside cabin ?
Yes
