You know I'll agree on a few levels here. MANY people "of that time" were simply using the tools available to advance their own position, and didn't engage in a lot of critical thinking about their choices. Which is why we NEED national laws to curtail rotten behavior by people who are way to presumptuous about their ideological beliefs that, when they're ALLOWED to, for instance, control poor women by denying their medical choices as regards reproduction, OR as is happening AT THIS MOMENT in Texas, apparently be allowed to hunt down people protesting for something they don't like can simply go out and gun them down, they DO IT!

Not true at all. Some people don't know what to do when they are free so they rather have someone to tell them what to do. That's one of many reasons why dictatorships can do very well from time to time.
What are you talking about, people were educated during them times they knew slavery was evil, anti slavery authors from Europe to America wrote against chattel slavery, anti slavery abolitionist. From as far back as the 1700s. Maybe you should take the time to educate yourself. To say people didn't know better is justifying slavery. Olaudah Equiano published his autobiography in 1789 in order to describe the humiliations suffered by enslaved people as well as to condemn the slave trade as an inhumane institution. Although some scholars have questioned whether he was born in Africa, ,, "they were people like you that made excuses, " The American Anti-Slavery Society was an abolitionist society founded by William Lloyd Garrison and Arthur Tappan. There were, no doubt, Romans who thought slavery was wrong. A few, not many. Most, even the slaves, just accepted it as life. Where the blonde (what is her name?) is wrong is her use of the word 'enjoyed'. 'Preferred' might be more likely. Better than starvation? When there is no likelihood of being fed, the whip is a lesser evil.
A lot of people enjoyed being molested when they were children. Many of them say what the predator was doing to them actually felt good before they became of age of understanding. White Under Belly channel have many of people sharing the exact same feeling when it was happening. They even felt like something was wrong with them once it stopped and wondered why they didn’t want to do it to em anymore. None of that I just mentioned made it any less egregious or rational….
It amazes me that what the blonde said is a surprise. In my opinion she was just saying the quiet part aloud. Below is a direct quote from the former British prime minister, Boris Johnson, who in 2002 said that ending the colonisation of Africa was a mistake and that Britain barely had anything to do with enslaving Africans. “The continent may be a blot, but it is not a blot upon our conscience. The problem is not that we were once in charge, but that we are not in charge any more,” Boris Johnson. Johnson went on further to write: “The best fate for Africa would be if the old colonial powers, or their citizens, scrambled once again in her direction; on the understanding that this time they will not be asked to feel guilty.” Written as a column in the Spectator newspaper in 2002. Years later they made him Prime Minister. You couldn’t make this 💩up. SMDH. In my opinion, 4/5 white people would agree with the blonde.
Again, not considering the time period. Back then your life expectancy wouldn't go over 40. So to these civilizations 13 yo kids weren't really considered kids as they already fulfilled a quarter of their lifetime. They started working at this age and such. And the mere concept of consent and maturity back then was incredibly under developed or even discussed. Today we know, with scientific proof, what it does to a child. And how important it is for children today to have their play time and essentially grow as actual children. But back then you were already an adult. You can find it nasty today. You should. But just because you do, doesn't mean you also have to judge. There's in-betweens
Was? There are still places in the world where it is 13. 14 is quite common, even Germany has an age of consent at 14. In some Muslim countries, the kid just has to be married to give consent. That means pre-puberty is allowed. In the West that is wrong, in the Muslim world it is not.
@@Silvartop the problem isn’t because it was different era and those times under marriages were normal. But rarely a 13 yr old were married off to a boy of the same age. Most under age marriages happened between adult males and little girls. Even the royals would do that nonsense. And nobody talks about that fact.
@@I_Don_t_want_a_handle in the west that’s wrong? Haven’t you seen many red states trying to lower down the child marriages to 14 or even 12? Massachusetts and Hampshire has at 14! Child marriages isn’t only reserved for Muslim countries. It’s happening in America too.
There were different tribes. Israelites were being sold to Europeans by Hamites. Two different tribes. Like Europeans, have Germans, British, Italian, and etc. Stop putting all “Black people in one basket, you don’t do that with Europeans.
Some slaves did enjoy being slaves. Frederick Douglas wrote about it. "My master owns more slaves than your master! "My master owns more property than your master!", and so on. Slavery has never been worse than right now, actually. What else do you call child sex slavery by the cartels as the young are prostituted out? Saudi Arabia still imports slaves from Africa, which black Africans abduct to sell, just like they did before the Civil War ended that form of slavery. Modern America participates. What else do you call seeing the blatant symbols of cartel "rape trees" on the border, and our politicians refuse to secure the border? The world is just as savage as it's always been. We haven't evolved or learned a damn thing from the mistakes of our ancestors. In fact, we're probably worse.
It's so bizarre reading historic accounts of earlier Americans. viewed slavery the same way we do fossil fuels or rare transition metals. "Yep, my mobile phone murdered a Zambian cobalt miner. Just a necessary evil... What could I do about it, even if I wanted?" and you will find that same sentiment all over the plantation-class era of little journals and diaries
People knew slavery was wrong back then, that's why they had abolition movements. You can judge them by the standards of the time and say they were committing evil acts because people said it then.
Tell me you don't understand nuance without saying you don't understand nuance.
