Voge 300 Rally ABS testing.

  • I keep hearing that the rear ABS should be disconnected/turned off when riding off-road. I took my Voge 300 Rally dual sport motorcycle out on the dirt trails and carried out an experiment. I was surprised by the findings

    In the situations you show on the video I don't thing disabling the ABS is necessary. On my first off-road riding I found myself in a really step down hill and with the ABS the motorbike wasn't slowing down at all. I thing disabling the ABS it's for much more extreme situations that the ones you show here. I did some similar tests with the same conclusion as you. Never the less, good video!. Keep it up!

      Thanks for your comment. I agree that it is correct for those situations. I have been down some steeper slopes, with loose surfaces and not found any problems so far. Although the more extreme the situation may be a problem, as you have found. I will only know when it happens. I have found that I can't be bothered to keep turning it off every time I start the bike. Ride safe.

    Rear wheel steering on loose ground. When riding at speed use the rear brake to help guide the bike through corners

    Mr. How do I turn the ABS on n off. And how do I know on the bike? The blinking ABS in the panel what does it mean 🤞

      Switch the ignition on, or start the engine. Push the ABS button and hold it on for a few seconds until the ABS light starts to flash, then release the button. This will disable the ABS on the rear wheel. The front ABS can’t be disabled. When you switch the ignition off it will default to turn the ABS back on. The light will stop flashing.

    Hey....Switch it off for riding, not for breaking ! Steer your Bike with the backwheel into corners...etc....

      @@dinnng I have only done it when playing in a patch of gravel. Yes it was fun. I will go out and play on the trails to gain confidence and overcome the fear of sliding over the edge of a sheer drop 😂

      Also handy for elephant turns.
      Some older, perhaps lower tech bikes, like my 2010 BMW F800GS, is virtually impossible (very scary) to operate the brakes with ABS activated, while traversing a steep downhill gravel surface, i.e. it's like there's no brakes!

      @@DaveZee01 thanks for your comment. I never had any problems with my Tiger 900 Rally Pro, on which I have only ridden with the rear ABS disconnected in Off-Road mode. I have a buddy with a new T7 and he says the same as you. That’s why I wanted to test it for myself on the Voge. I don’t normally ride by steering with the rear wheel as I am not confident enough, at my current skill level. Bret Tkacs has made an interesting video about the ABS off-road.
