Registrace 23. 01. 2023
Let's face it. Nobody wants this to happen, but it has happened to me. I am now officially over 70 years old. However I do not believe in old age, and I intend to live life to the full for as long as possible. For me that means riding motorcycles. More specifically, my Voge 300 Rally dual-sport. On this channel I will share my rides & experiences. Live Long Ride On!
Voge 300 Rally rear wheel wobble.
Donkey has gone wobbly. But what was it? A problem with the bike or the tyre?

Voge 300 Rally on Tour Portugal 2

This is another ride on my Voge 300 Rally dual sport motorcycle through the beautiful countryside of northern Portugal. I used the TomTom Rider 410 set to winding roads. Avoidances were for motorways and toll roads, but not set to avoid unpaved roads. I had a surprise when it led me onto a dirt track that I would not class as a road.

This is a musical ride through the beautiful scenery in northern Portugal on my Voge 300 Rally dual sport motorcycle. I set my TomTom Rider 410 gps to find the most winding roads. It certainly did that. This ride was from Chaves to Vila Nova de Foz Côa.

I have attempted to ride the Adventure Country Tracks Portugal twice in the past, on my Tiger 900 Rally Pro. For various reasons, I rode half going north and half going south. Now I intend to ride the complete track on my Voge 300 Rally dual-sport motorcycle.

Don't you just love glamming up your bike? Changing this and that. The original rear rack on my Voge 300 Rally is a good rack, but I wanted something a bit bigger, so I got one from Uncle Wangshop. Here is is my personal experience and opinion of the rack, and my dealing with the company.
TomTom vs Phone. Which is best for navigation?

I love riding my Voge 300 Rally dual sport motorcycle, both on the asphalt and the dirt trails. It's a great fun machine. With that in mind, there are some roads which are fun to ride, and others are not much fun at all. I love exploring new roads, and, like most riders, rely on gps for navigation. In this video I am comparing the TomTom Rider 410 with my Thork Racing nav phone, using DMD 2 & M...

Have you ever replenished your coolant while riding voge300rally? i bought voge300rally 1month ago. my voge300rally, there are a few drops.
This lever has been fitted for 8 months now. Originally I didn’t use thread lock on the bolt and it came loose. Remember to use thread lock.
Thank you very much for your very informative videos. I have a problem with my Voge 300 rally, sometimes (especially 3. Gear and while going downhill) when I pulled the clutch engine stops suddenly. Do you have any idea? Thank you very much in advance.
@@tolgaakdemir1311 Thank you. I’m pleased that the videos have been helpful. I’m sorry I’m not a motorcycle mechanic so can’t really diagnose the problem. I can suggest that you could check the adjustment of the clutch cable first. If it’s not that I would speak to a mechanic. Best of luck.
May I suggest trying Motoz tyres!
Thanks. Yes they get good reviews. It's good to try different types of tyre. I will see how long these trackers last and maybe think about Motoz next.
Nice video Bryan. Just put some grip puppies on mine. Really effective at taking the vibes away.
Thank you. A buddy has them on his CRF 300. Actually I don't really get bothered by the vibes. Maybe I've grown used to them.
I’m on Continental TKC80 twinduro. I think trackers will be too much for daily riders. How were the spokes?
Yes a 50/50 is normally a good choice for most situations. I'm using these for local riding, a high percentage of off-road. The spokes are fine.
You can’t go wrong with the trackers. I run them on my voge 300 rally and there excellent. They may feel a little vague to start with and track the contours of the road but get 200 to 300 mile on them and they really settle down. I’ve done 2000 mile on them now and there lasting really well and that’s 50% Road and 50% off road and for £70 for the rear you can’t go wrong .
Thanks. Yes, you are right. The first ride was rather uncertain. Also found on the trails they were not digging in. Now I have lowered the pressures to 1 bar front & 1.1 rear it has made a big difference. It can take time to get used to different types of tyre.
Maybe the answer is not to look for the best deal - maybe a better idea is to look for a unit with reviews - after all the price doesn't vary much. Me personally, I'm probably going to save my money and the extra weight. I brought the R300 bc its light and with my travel kit on board every kilo counts.
@@CosmicSeeker69 I understand your point of view. I am just glad I fitted the steel guard. The original had started to crack and this one has taken several knocks from flying rocks. The most important thing is to enjoy riding, whatever option we choose. Ride safe ✌️
How about the Shinko 244s?
I didn't know about them until now. Thanks for the suggestion. I have just watched a review and they look good all rounders. Too late for me at this time, a I have just ordered a pair of Michelin Trackers.
Great video...i watch your videos too often and i enjoy them a lot. I woukd like to ask you what type and brand of oil you use for the rally 300. Again thanks,a lot and enjoy life. Best wishes...
Thanks for your support. I'm glad you enjoy the videos. Up until now the bike has been serviced by the dealer, and I don't know what oil they used.
@@livelongrideonover70 Voge recomends semisynthetic 15w50. I believe ut is a good choice but i think due to the oil volume being only 1.3 litres it is better to change it every 2.500klm. Also every 500klm add 50ml of oil. So...live long and ride on mate.......
@@sotiristsallis I can see that changing the oil more often will give peace of mind and it can only help the engine. Enjoy your bike ✌️

Didn't worked well for me the certain one from UW. Noisy between 6.5k and 7k rpm. I'm gonna uninstall it, get pissed off with the vibrations been produced.
@@Yannis1980 thanks for your feedback. I’m sorry that you have had this problem and wasted your time and money. Original I said I would not post a link and said that there are so many on AliXpress that it would be better to search and find the best deal. Then someone asked for a link, so I posted one. I don’t want to promote a product that is poor quality. I have now removed the link. I hope you get a plate that is better for you. I know I am glad I fitted one. It has been hit by flying stones several times. Best wishes.
@@livelongrideonover70 not your fault, by no means. My dealer and garage owner asked me if there were any spacers or other parts inside the package, but there were none, just six bolts, a couple of nuts, four washers (2 metal, 2 plastic) and a sort of locktite tube. He tried to tighten himself the bolts at the second scheduled service but that was not the case. He told me he'll give it one more try next time I visit him. Not gonna order any new from Ali either. Another, probably minor, issue was that the front holes where not aligned tο fit into the frame ones and I had to rasp them both (obviously the skid ones) a mm or two. Removed it a couple of hours earlier and put back the stock parts. Couldn't stand the vibration rattling.😎👍
Hello, is the muffler loud? (I do not like the bikes making a lot of noise while in the forest.)
Single cylinder 4 stroke dirt bikes all make the braap noise, this one included. I don't think it is 'louder' than the Honda CRF 300.
Nice one. Music too.
Thank you.
With the first chords of the soundtrack I thought you're about to announce something very sad. Thank god it's just a musical ride :D
Thanks for making me laugh.🤣 There is no Portuguese music on CZcams Studio, and a very limited choice for Spanish guitar. 🤣

Portugal is a beautiful country.
It's motorcycle paradise.

But I rode all the way through France and I didn't see you. 🤣
Oh. You are back. Good to see you riding into the freedom.
Hi. Thank you. It's the way to go!
Very busy roads.....not!😁 ❤🇵🇹
I know. So much traffic is a nightmare 🤣
Did the ACT from north to south a couple of weeks before you. That steep section you came down had me swerving about going up it. Took it easy and did.it.in 7 days!
Well done you! I had planned to do it in 7 days, and that seems about right. It's a great track, although there are some sections that are more demanding than expected. That slope being one in particular.
The camera doesn’t really show the steepness of the climbs and descents. Well done for making it through those tracks in the heat Bryan. I’m sorry you had such a challenge with heat and food poisoning for those days. Very candid video. (Let’s try the whole route again when it’s not 37C and sunny .)
Yes that's true about the camera. That was a situation I would have preferred not to have experienced. However, I'm glad I got out of it when I did.
Well done, Bryan! That was tough going. I think the ACT Portugal should be done over maybe 7+ days to do it all as recommended. I had to cut a few days short when I did it - hitting the tamac early (due to heat and fatigue) and straight-lining it for the finish. And for sure, once the temp goes above 30°C off road, it's a game changer when on a long day at slow speeds. Well done for surviving it!
Thanks Dave. I agree about the timing. I was taking it over 7 days. Now I know you had a similar experience I don’t feel such a whimp 😂 It’s certainly not a walk in the park.
Just discovered your channel, its brilliant👍👍.... I live in UK and thinking of shopping in my GS 700 for a Vogue rally... Seems like a very decent machine 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you. I took a chance on this relatively unknown bike but so far I have been mightily impressed. I downsized from a Tiger 900. No regrets.
Beautiful Martian glasses.
They aren’t glasses. They’re my eyes 👽😂
well done fella - knowing when to quit is part of winning
Thanks. Yes we can’t always let the ego win. It can get us into a lot of trouble 😲
Sorry to hear the trip hasn't quite gone to plan... but nonetheless a great experience. Thanks for the videos.

Hi there. Thanks for your support.
Wow. Well done. I live in the area and those steep gravely/rocky/rutty tracks are tricky as f. Even if they (ATC?) maintain those tracks, 2 days of hard rain can change them into a rutty hell. The asfalt backroads of serra da estrela are very nice though. Fantastic views. Hope you feel better, dont torture yourself.
Thanks very much. Your comment has made me feel pretty good about what I have achieved. The ACT don’t manage the tracks. They make the route and maybe check on them very occasionally. As far as I know anyway. It’s a beautiful area for you to live. Enjoy.

Thanks Steven. It’s certainly an experience. Day 2 & 3 videos are now live.
Great aerial views over Monsaraz/Aquelva. & yes, I remember some tough sections south of Estremoz, covered in very fine "talcum powder"; which if you're not leading, was like fog ! Ride on Bro'!
That was Stuart flying his drone. You can tell he’s a pilot 👨✈️ Video 4 makes day 2 pale into insignificance 🥵
*All the gear all the time* It’s especially hard when it’s 30C plus … But I do agree with you Bryan. This is the only way.
I know it’s not practical in several situations Stuart. I’m just glad I had it on that day.
Świetny film! Powodzenia.
Bryan, do you have a link for the aux bar on your handle bars bro. I've got one on my screen but think the tablet is too heavy for it. Great video btw. Looking forward to the rest of the trip. Regards, John.
Hi John. Thanks. I don’t have a link convenient as I am on the road right now. It’s for a Triumph Tiger 900. I got it from AliExpress. I had to use spacers and longer bolts from the spares box to get it to fit. It handles the TomTom with locking mounting ok.
I got the inspiration . Tomorrow i am going for a ride definitely.
That’s good to know. Ride safe.

Hi John. Thanks for watching. This video may be helpful. The list of tools is at the end. You also need to add a spanner to adjust the chain. I don't remember the size at this moment. Also I don't take the gear lever now, as the aluminium one has been fine for a few thousand kms.

Hi Brian, what gear selector did you replace the original one with please? I have moved mine up but could really do with a longer one.

Where the 'ell has the L gone????? NOBB*IES NOBBIE TYRES???? :)
For what ots worth: ive been looking for a Unicorn m/c for months now, something that CAN do 70 if needed, but will re-build my confidence off road... At one point i was considering a Honda CBR250R - the road bike with a race fairing.... Stripped down, with bar risers and Metzeler Tourace tyres i thought that would do the job for unmettled roads' in the Balkans. Anyway my point is: I searched in YT for CBR trail riding. India never disappoints: there were a group of yoffs riding their standard CBR's on road rubber up clay and gravel tracks..... It's (mostly)all in the mind. Another example: years ago i went trekking just along the Himalayas - on our first boulder strewn climb we were approached by two nuns (no jokes please) driving the local bullt version of the Metro - to this day i still dont believe my eyes but to them it was just something they needed to do to get provisions....
Thanks for your stories. Yes, I have to laugh when I am all togged up and feeling awesome, and a guy goes by on a battered old 50cc wearing a t-shirt and loaded up with shopping bags 🤣 I actually think the Voge 300 rally would be a good choice for you to gain confidence.
Hi John. First time visitor. I hope that you dont mind me asking but does anyone have details for parts suppliers down through the Balkans please? Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bulgaria??
Welcome. I don's have info on this areas. I did look at Voge dealers but couldn't find any. There is a parts dealer in France who could ship. Good luck on your quest. Bryan.
Yes, across our range of machines, experience and tyres we all did well on that tour. For me, I would just add that the Anakee Wilds "feel" better on the trails than the OEM Pirelli Scorpions; but they will last only half the distance of the OEMs. There is no "Unicorn". But I guess your point is "Do we need one?"...!
Yes each tyre has different characteristics. Some better off-road. some noisier on road, etc. But for trail riding they all work. As you say, is there such a thing as the one and only that is the best in all situations?
Good point well made. I still have the Timsuns on my Voge and they are fine. I do find however, that adjusting tyre pressures according to the terrain makes a significant difference. A big faff though...so I have adopted having a compromise psi between ideal on and off road pressures.
Thanks. yes, I also liked the Timsuns. Like you say, pressures make a difference. I'm still playing about with mine to find the optimum setup. Then there is the added dimension of 'do I change the pressure with luggage or not'? However, no matter what pressure or tyre, the bike has so far got me where I want to go.
