    Not a “battle” I would have anticipated, but it made for some interesting comparisons. I've also noticed a big change in the GA12s over the last couple years, yours looks dark as night. Good one!

      Yes this was probably me just enjoying myself too much with this one... Not really a battle however this new GA 12 is defo the best so far... And worthy of a head to head with the Geery12.... Both wonderful... Thanks for dropping in fella... Cheers Alan

    Colour on your GA 12 looks wonderful! I thought we were going to go GA12 all day, but good to hear GG12 held its own. Over here it is half the price too! Great review and do many flavours to enjoy. Cheers!

    Gg12 for the win. Might be my fav 12 out there. It’s got it all, fruit, malt, spice and even a little funk. Too bad it has skyrocketed in price lately

    Love to see you wrestle, Alan, with these two whiskies. Great bottles. I think Bunna 12 and Deanston 12 would be good ones to battle it out.

      @@thewhiskyfriend I will always just assume the Bunna will be better than any other 12yr. lol. Haven't tried Deanston yet but plan to get around it eventually.

    That was a mighty battle indeed, but there can only be one winner here and that's you Alan! Your enthusiasm when reviewing a dram that you particularly enjoy really shines through in your videos. Keep up the great work!
    I really enjoy the GG12, it's one of the best bang for the buck 12's in my area. It would be fun to see a head to head between 2 of my other favorite affordable12's; Bunna 12 and Loch Lomond 12!

    I agree with the GA at 91. I usually think I'm drinking something far older than 12. Would love to try the Glen Garioch as I have quite a sweet tooth.

      One of the toughest battles ever, both fantastic.. For you it will be dependent on which batch of the GA 12 you have... The later the better... 2020 or 2021 would be even better.... Glad your enjoying the vids and thanks for dropping bye and please let me know how you get on with them... Cheers Alan

    Ready to disagree Alan! Then you changed both to 91! Lol! Absolutely! Discovered GG12 about 3-1/2 years ago and was blown away. I am in love with the newer Glenallachie 12. Have late 20 bottling. Very dark and rich! My current favorite 12! Both are amazing! Thank you for the battle! Hi

  • @ivanthetolerable
    @ivanthetolerable Před 2 lety +2

    I knew you were gunna say that.😏 Saw you left more in the glass and bingo: ‘bonus point’.😉
    Right now, if it were a choice, it would be the GA for me, since the GA 12 is still ~$50, but all the GG I can find here is tariff-priced $20+ over the last time I bought it at $55 in April 2020.
    I had 2019 GA 12 & 15, and GA 10 batch 2 (haven’t seen newer here). The ‘19 Gs 12 had less sherry influence than Glen Garioch (12 also from 2020), but the GA had a wonderful floral nose I confirmed as distillery nature with a cheap indep bottling: Lonoch 7 year GA 46% w/zero sherry. This 2021 12 yr release is almost as dark as the 2019 15 yr.
    Any thoughts on whether the GA distillate’s floral notes were swamped with sherry, or does it matter?
    Cheers Alan🥃

    LOL, the first thing I muttered to myself when I saw the thumbnail... "... but Alan they're two different Whiskies", & thats exactly how you opened it !!! I laughed. I much prefer the Glen Garioch. Sorry but the Glanallachie is overrated. I dont get it's hype.

      2 fantastic whiskies...I'm a fan of Glenallachie, the whisky just needs time...as the fill level drops it just gets better....no hype it's wonderful stuff my friend...

  • @judgeholden849
    @judgeholden849 Před 2 lety +1

    I recently picked up a GG and a GA, both dusty so likely a few years old, and the GG has far more character and flavor imo. Not sure this bottle of GA would be top five... balblair, deanston, springbank, kilkarren, glendronach, are all much better, and that's not to mention peated whiskeys or 10 year olds like bladnoch and glencadam, even tobermoray, which are far better.
    GA is not bad but all the hype is a little strange, people just cultish allegiance to billy walker or whomever his name is. I don't even see what hype of glendronach is about tbh, it's good but I've had 12-18 bottlings and none were game-changers.

    Your becoming too much of a diplomat mate
    We all know your a big BW fan and hence IMO the late change of score to help out the GA ..again IMO the Glen Garioch is the superior offering here the 12 is not GAs best .

      Thanks for your feedback Allan and I will do my very best not to get predicable, however I do genuinely believe that this is the best GA 12 to date.... Cheers for dropping bye and so chuffed your enjoying the channel my friend..
