  • Considering upgrading your vehicle's energy system? Chances are, you have some pre-existing wiring in your van, motorhome, or 4WD that you'll need to consider before adding additional components.
Today, we're discussing the importance of understanding what pre-existing wiring you have in your vehicle before getting your system upgraded. You should ask yourself the following questions:
    1. What electrical wiring currently exists in your vehicle?
    2. How do you want it incorporated into an energy system upgrade?
    3. What is your end goal - What do you want to power? How long do you need power? How do you want to charge your batteries?
Consider the above questions before bringing in your vehicle for a custom upgrade - Springers Workshop has been designing and installing custom energy systems for our customer's caravans, motorhomes, 4WDs, and more for over 20 years. Contact our friendly, Brisbane-based team for any questions or queries about how we can help you stay off-grid for longer.
2x 200Ah ‪@enerdrive-dometic‬ batteries and a ‪@VictronEnergyBV‬ Multiplus-II Inverter/Charger were added to this system’s existing unit to maximise the customer’s energy independence while travelling. Our team designed the system around the pre-existing wiring in the van, to provide a clean and efficient solution for our customer. We also added 2x 120W and 1x 200W @ALVOLTA Eclipse solar panels to the van's roof, enabling the batteries to charge off solar.

What would this set up cost, ball park?
Was this fitted as an upgrade after the caravan was built?

Hi, thanks for the question. This system was circa $10k for the supply and installation. And that's right, we upgraded this caravan's existing system after the owner's bought it (already built).
