This video brings back good memories of getting into the game 3 years ago and pouring over Crabbok’s original What To Buy videos, taking notes about where to get upgrades and putting together terrible lists that flew apart but were a lot of fun
I personally don’t play competitively, I just own Armada as I would any other board game. This means that if I get an expansion for one faction, I need to get one for the other faction too, which means I don’t have any ships larger than medium. This makes the Pelta actually really nice, it’s one of the tangiest ships I can get for the rebels at $30 dollars or less, so it usually serves as my rebel flagship.
As an Empire player I started by just buying an SSD, starting materials , and one of each fighter pack. Worked well.

For those who are wondering : The Assault Frigate MK II is first scene in Empire At War, a PC RTS Game first released in 2006, and its design is similar to the Nebula B Frigates and Mon Colamari Star Ships
it's a funky mix of their design features and i love it for that
our game table is a no-phone-zone. dice abounds!
Star Wars has this weird sweet spot where the ugly ships are ugly in a nice way....
They always have a more utilitarian look than Star Trek. Especially once the JJ Abrams movies came out.
@@Mitharan23 tbf, Lower Decks has been killing it with the ship designs.
The only really ugly ship in Star Wars, in my opinion, is the assult frigate mark 2
One of my favorite Imp ships is the gozanti even though it's not that pretty there is just something about seeing it with those tie fighters docked that just looks really cool

They need to add a Viscount or MC90s or Nebula SDs, so many bad ass late NR ships.
I wish they would add the MC85 star cruiser with exceptional shields and squadron carrying but with a high cost at around 150-160pts. I think it should be a broadside ship like the home one but more speed (speed 3) hull value 13

Another great informative video. It is worth noting the excellent upgrade pack also has a zip baggy with tokens tucked in. I was very pleased with this upgrade as the Imp Arquitens has at least 2, IIRC, upgrade cards not in any Rebel exp - reinforced blast doors and dual laser turrets(?) and the notorious SSD I believe has a Fleet Support upgrade also not avail to the Rebels. So this pack provides them, I presume.
As an aside, funny Navy story came to mind when you mentioned how some folks do not consider the Rebel Gr-75s as "warships". Once upon a time on board my last ship (LSD which "transports WWW Marines, X, M1 MBTs, Y various Humvees and Z 105mms) I was up on the bridge. Someone made a comment about the ship and a Lieutenant said "well, it's not like this is a real warship", just as the Captain entered the bridge. 👀😖🤣🤣🤣

I’ve played heaps of x-wing and only occasionally watched your videos. Decided to start playing armada and your channel has been a great resource. First Rebel ship - Starhawk! Imp is chimera. Now all I have to do is wait for the core set to arrive :-D

Love these Videos, I have only started and am picking up both Imperial and Rebel fleets but finding I am expanding as expansions are available to me, I sent in a list to my local game store and we are slowly ticking off as their supplier gets mini's in stock :)

Hey Crabbok! So I've been slowly going through your content. We chatted on one of your other videos and I mentioned my play group was restarting and I had recently made a trade and acquired my buddies Rebel collection. The funny thing is, it included literally everything you have in this video minus the card upgrade, an extra set of dice, the Hammer heads, the Profundity and the Starhawk. I'm gonna totally take your advice, grab that card upgrade set, an extra set of dice. This video might be 3 years old, but it still served as a fantastic guide I'm gonna send to my friends.

Thank you for all of your hard work. On Thanksgiving I was in the hospital icu again. This time, (there have been many,lol) they tagged me with terminal chronic acute kidney failure. It is slamming me right into instant retirement due to illness. Im only 40 and plan on sticking around for a long time but now with all of the time I now have u decided to dive into all of the stuff I loved or wanted as a kid. Armada and games like warhammer 40k have always been something I wanted to get into. Bought the starter box, the imperial star destoyer, the profundity, and a rebel and empire squadron pack. I think some more dice and that expansion card pack might be next. Im most likely going to mostly play alone so I'm trying to build 2 competitive and balanced armies. Any other suggestions to go with what I have so far would be greatly appreciated. Love the show, sorry about this mini novel of a message, lol, and keep up the great work. You have a new fan and I will be watching, lol. You ARE my star wars gaming source now.... may the force continue to be with you.
There needs to be a crossover mission to combine armadas and legion. Seems like a match made on heaven imho, or maybe come out with armada sized ground units. Would be awesome to run a two table space/planetary war.

Just starting Armada!
Took a long break from this game, but now getting back into it. Getting ships I missed out on in the later waves. This is such an amazing game. I wish they had more waves... but my wallet disagrees.
I didn't even really know about Armada until I was looking for a model of the Chimaera. I found it for the Armada game. So I am researching how to play and what to buy. These videos are very great and helpful. Also, is that a Chimaera symbol shirt?

Interesting videos. I do not yet play but in other gaming I love to play Campaigns best and I see there are two published Campaigns for this game. What do you think of them?
I have 2 core sets, 2 cr-90s, 2 neb-bs, 2 gr75s, 1 pelta, 1 mc30, 1 assault frigrate, 1 liberty, 1 home one, 1 vsd, 1 gozanti, 1 raider, 2 arquitens light cruisers, 1 gladiator, 2 interdictors, 1 quasar, 1 imperial class star destroyer, 1 rouge's and villains, 1 squadron pack number 1 for each faction. And I still want more....
So I've found Armada by accident. I was looking for Home One model, could only find small one from DeAgostini but because it never released in my country it was cheaper to buy Home One expansion pack for Armada... Then I bought Assault Frigate MK2 the same day... Maybe I'll get the core set one day and actually play the game, haha. Also amazing video, I believe that cool factory is very important for casual players.
Edit: also got Rebel Squadrons 2 and GR-75.

I have been looking to get into one of the star wars games (rebellion, armada, x-wings 2E, imperial assault, etc.) and I have settled on Armada I think. It's the most unique and different and I've heard good things so could be fun. I wanted to know if this video and your empire on a budget video for this game were still up to date and accurate for June 2022. Thanks!
Yeah they are still relevant. Haven't had much new stuff in awhile.

Been wanting to start my own fleet and get into the game.
The most valuable thing is having a community of fellow players nearby to play with. Invest time in introducing and growing the local player base.
Home One was the first expansion I got because well Ackbar and it's the flagship. And 4 years later, Defiance is still my favorite singular ship and ends up in my best lists.
I have never used defiance, but now that you said that I'll have to try it out

I have once. However I prefer Home One, though I just read what Defiance does and I will definitely be trying it.

Upgrade pack is great for my small fleet, I don't feel at so big a disadvantaged from small card pool

Hey, just wondering what you would recommend for a starting point of Armada with the state of the game atm with AMG?
I was going to grab a Separatist and Republic starter for my wife and I as we enjoy X-Wing but would just the basic starter be better if we're not going to get any new Sep/Rep ships released in the near future?

The Assault Frigate MK2 is the only ship that I'd be tempted to run a 3D printed replacement for the actual ship model, happily buy the expansion for everything but the actual ship. X3

assault frigate ugly? For me one of the coolest looking ships in all of star wars. looks really beefy and powerful. It also has the Heir to the Empire bonus! Nice fluffy matchup against Chimaera and Thrawn! 5/5 would command.
When will we see The Bulwark Mark III?

They should make new starter packs for the Rebels and Empire that are like the clone wars ones the Rebels could have a liberator class cruiser and 2 DP20 corvettes and the Empire could have a Dreadnought heavy cruiser and 2 Tartan class corvettes

Hi ! I was wondering if it made any sense to have multiple identical MC-80 Liberty ? I know I'd get some useless cards but I play with the french version of the game (my kids don't speak English) and we won't get the new upgraded cards ... or anything else anymore it seems and I'm not on a budget ^^

My first rebel ship was mc80 Liberty. But I became a bit disappointed with that ship, because it doesn’t have a lot of variability.
