    I love how the three gun training he took Keanu to not only changed up his stance to make him look more fluid, but that the extra fluidity helped ease the transition into hand to hand combat.
    The gun-jitsu could be upped because it looked more natural for him to have opportunities to throw a guy or need to make distance to get to his weapon. And John Wick always purveying for threats while _Keanu Reeves_ knew where the threats would be gives the effect of this inhumanly good assassin, not omnipotent but placing shots on threats more effectively than anybody could.

    • @j0hn00
      @j0hn00 Před 11 měsíci +25

      It always amazes me when I re-realize that Keanu does _all_ of his own stunts besides the car wrecks. The dude is almost 60 and still throwing down this hard?? And the way he loves to go through all the training. He's always grinning ear to ear in the behind the scenes. He's so cool lmao

    • @lemmingrad
      @lemmingrad Před 11 měsíci +17

      Lately, I had people using Keanu as argument for training gun safety into actors.
      Now watching this video, and how this specific prop gun works, now I know it’s less teaching Keanu about guns, but getting him practicing the motions so he looks natural using them quickly.

    The best thing about improving on the choreo and stunts in the John Wick films is how it actually fits in with the story.
    In the first movie, he's out of practice from retirement, so Keanu's more robotic moves make sense for a guy who canonically lost a step or two. Then, as the movies continue, you see him shaking the rust off and getting back to that fabled assassin he once was.

    Another great episode as always! I think some of these stunts or sequences would be great to look at:
    1) Ito vs Arian in the Night Comes For Us, their final fight.
    2) The village battle in Seven Samurai.
    3) The Battle of Bloody Porch - The final shootout in The Wild Bunch
    4) The final shootout in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
    5) The first Daredevil vs Bullseye fight in Daredevil Season 3.

    If you're looking for realistic/gritty looking stuntwork, Raid done by Battlestate games. Good for VFX, Stunts, the whole gambit basically. Especially the hand-to-hand near the end of the locker scene is just *chef's kiss*

    Since he briefly mentioned it fighting against the guy who would work Power Rangers I would love to see you guys react to that series. It’s just fascinating to me for there to be more of a magnifying glass on the stunts they did at least when they shot original footage and not reusing Super Sentai footage.

    I'd love to see you guys take a look at some of the insanely massive battle scenes in 1960's soviet movies. The battle of Borodino in War and Peace (1967) or the cavalry charges in Waterloo (1970) are stunts at a mind-bending scale. Thousands of extras, horses, canons and smoke. I can't even imagine how they coordinated it all.

    Another great one! I'd love to see you guys delve into the world of movie guns and their mechanics and the different methods of getting effective gun scenes. I guess it would be more of a special effect episode, but I'd bet the stunt work could come in to you guys maybe recreating some iconic gun scenes. Also, I think if you guys were ever looking for something new to do, a series on reviewing popular film scenes with writers (Film Writers React??) could be super interesting. Given the ongoing issues with writers in Hollywood today, it'd be really interesting to get their view.

    There aren't many stunts in The Right Stuff, but the one where Yeager's horse runs under a tree and knocks him off (right at the beginning of the film) is one I'd love to see modern stuntmen react to. It definitely sells as something that broke the guy's ribs, and is a great, hard shot.

    There's a great scene from 'Crying Freeman' where Mark Dacascos does a butterfly between two katanas.
    On a slightly unrelated note: I was watching 'Step Up All In' and the bar scene came on and I was like 'I know that guy'. It was Gui. That just made the movie for me!
