Honestly, because its the only scene where CG looked real. All the other parts you can tell what is CG and what is not. If you can see if something is CG then its not good CG.
Take Bladerunner 2049 for an example. Nobody even know which was CG and which wasn't. Because it was that good.
"What if we deep-faked the mustache?"
What a time to be alive
What's crazy is that there's an even easier way to do it pretty realistically that doesn't even involve deepfaking.

actually according to some interview, the reshoot for the snyder cut is just 10 minutes or so. the whole movie is just the original scenes of snyder's without joss whedon reshoot
Yes but none of Synder work had completed VFX and edits.
Yeah the only "reshoot" was the knightmare scene with the martian manhunter scene, in the "2017 Snyder Cut" the movie ended with the Lex Luthor scene
but they did have a running start on VFX (old files) and could spend all the additional time polishing them up. The video shows tweaks in animation and the change in crop means a chance to reframe everything.

8:48 I'm also amazed at how real it looks, usually when a cgi interacts with water in a hollywood movie, I can tell it's cgi, but here even knowing it's cgi I still question it.
9:38 - 9:39 I find the water splashing upwards after the foot step the only thing to actually give away that this puddle is cgi. Everything else looks incredibly realistic. The stick and the interaction of the water with it, the mud coming up as reaction to the foot stomping into the puddle. But those few water driplets that almost get catapulted upwards look more like hot wax in lava lamps than real water.
@@alhira5098 I think a dude just put on a huge shoe and they cgi'd it
Snyder's steppenwolf made me actually afraid he might win because of how epic he was.
Technically he did
Meanwhile steppenwolf in josstice league: I would have won it wasn’t for that meddling Boy Scout and k-pop stan
Isn't really accurate to a comic standpoint though. In the comics steppenwolf literally does just look like a dude. Now this isn't to say Snyder version doesn't look epic.
@@giovannibaglio2179 Snyders version looks better though
@@ogrimzyz8643 agree to disagree. I find the older look better cause the whole point of steppenwolf is for him if he please TO be able to just walk around without anyone thinking he isn't human. I mean there multiple stories where he is on earth trying to be covert rather than explosions and here I am.
I think the biggest reason Barry was so gentle with that woman was because of how incredibly powerful he is moving at that speed where it's almost practically frozen.
Dceu Flash doesn't seem to have telekinesis like Superman. That's why he can't carry a person while speeding because he's gonna kill them.
That’s right
He shouldn't need to, the speed force aura allows Barry and any other speedforce based speedsters to ignore laws of physics like sonic booms, friction and force being applied to their internal organs. This extends to any object/being that he is in contact with and is the primary reason why he doesn't kill people at high speeds like when he evacuated the entire population of Chongin from a nuke.
@@shaunraflores2294 its early flash where barry still learning his power.
Yeah I mean look at when he pushed the parademon and how in the speed forces slowed time he only slightly pushed it but in real time the push had the force to literally kill the parademon and so it’s safe to say that by being gentle was the right move here

To Freddie's point, even though we had essentially already seen this movie I still felt the tension and excitement build up in each scene. I was thoroughly entertained by the Snyder cut over the original release.
That and Snyder’s version looks and feels like an actual film/ epic rather than a crappy Saturday morning cartoon that WB wanted.
Even something as simple as when Roose Bolton readies the bomb makes me nervous. In Josstice League Wonder Woman breaks through the door immediately after, letting me know that nothing bad is going to happen. But Justice League has the timer set before Diana even enters the building, adding just that extra bit of tension.
Freddie's point on how the 4:3 aspect ratio emphasized how larger than life the characters were actually bodes true, but mainly for this film. Because one of the major key differences between Marvel and DC is Marvel is about heroes trying to compete with gods whereas DC is about gods living among men.
Did you just explain the key differences between Marvel and DC in one sentence?
Wrong batman is only human, also avengers have some op characters
@@barry2349 he never said marvel has lame characters the big difference between marvel and DC is marvel heroes are trying to become god's or defeat one, well I won't call thanos a god more like demi god. while in DC well they're fighting against real god's, people who were already god's since the beginning
Also your clearly underestimating batman for someone whose more famous than Hawkeye who also doesn't have powers . Batman has proven so many times he doesn't need powers to be a hero
@@barry2349 obviously there are exceptions to the idea but in general they are right. DCs heroes are in general more powerful and god-like than that Marvel heroes, and their stories are about their struggles to fit in to a human society. Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Flash, Aquaman, Shazam, Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl etc are all insanely powerful and their biggest struggles are usuallu fitting in to our world, Superman, Cyborg and Martian Manhunter especially. Marvels heroes are more often than not regular humans with slight advancements and their struggles revolve around fighting incredibly powerful beings. Captain America, Iron Man, Spiderman, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Falcon, War Machine, Black Panther etc all apply to that. Obviously there are exceptions to both of those rules, Batman, Robin, Thor, Hulk, etc. But in general, these rules apply

I just assumed Barry touching her so lightly was because he didn’t want to shatter her bones.

Yeah that whole sequence is in my mind one of if not the greatest scenes in a Superhero movie
That wasnt the speed force
That scene was so goddamn beautiful, but it got me questioning tho. I was kinda confused at what Barry was running towards (the galaxy-looking thing). I understood it as the center of the Anti-Life explosion, but it kinda baffled me that the explosion turned its immediate surroundings into what looked like the vacuum of space. On the other hand, I also understood it as Barry running so fast, past the speed of light, that he semi enters the Speed Force. Could make sense, considering it is said to be one of the foundational force of the universe, so it looks like a galaxy.
I dunno. Point is, the scene is cool but I'm not big-brain enough to understand it on the spot.
@@the11thhour44 It's not the Anti Life, just the Mother Box doing its thing. The Flash only need surface to run on but he can't run in vacuum of space hence ground forming on his feet.

I think Barry being gentle with her was more of a fact that, at least story wise, was to make sure he didn’t just snap her neck or spice because he’s moving so fast and would be applying a hell of a lot of force.
Yes, he didn't want to A-train her
"What are you doing?" "I'm holding your neck so you don't get whiplash. "What?" "Whip. Laaash."
We all know that spices are far too expensive to just have some lil supe come snap them at thousands of mph

Thought story wise, shouldn’t the speed force stop that?
Surprised that they didn't talk about the shot with Flash saving the group of hostages from falling rubble, his run, him reversing time, as well as the CGI doubles of the cast, finally seeing how fast WW moves in that rescue scene, and how did they not comment on Iris' face looking like a mannequin when she's meant to be being flung out of a car? 🤣😬

One thing I've never seen people talk is how Steppenwolf's face look so real. You can see his eye talk and feel the emotions just by looking his face. It looks so good.

Honestly, his eyes threw me off big time. It felt like puppy eyes, too big for the character. Just slightly, but it's there. And If you see him so much, well... I can't unsee it now
The fact that he had actual emotions and a... motivation(!) was so surprising. I don't know if it's face tracking or just fantastic animation, but when Darkseid basically berates him, he looks genuinely... sad. Because all he wants in life is to earn the respect of his idol and be free. I might be misremembering this, but when he has the motherboxes, I can't stop but think that he looked so happy, almost giddy, which is weird to say for a DCEU villain, yet it would fit. Because he has an actual personality.
Alot of it involved resized the face, and making the helmet draw its attention to the eyes, his new eyes are humongous and very easy to read, and his new silouette is very easy to read its overall body language.

The Snyder Cut of Justice League brought back THE main thing that was missing from the Josstice League....emotional impact. Snyder is a master at making me emotional in comic book movies.... and that is a HUGE thing to me! The Josstice League movie, I felt nothing, I could not really even enjoy it. The Snyder cut though, I had tears in my eyes at times, and why Joss and the WB thought it was okay to pull out all the emotional parts of this movie is beyond me.
I was literally rewinding scenes to watch Steppenwolf's armor do shit; like when it breaks off the Amazon arrows stuck in him, the spikes moving and reacting to certain actions/scenes. It's like his armor was a separate being with its own mind, similar to Doc Ock's tentacles in Spiderman 2.
Mother box technology...you're right it's sentient. The mother boxes and technology made from the mother boxes are living machines. It's why Blue Beetle and Cyborg have issues from time to time.

14:20 That's just bunch of BS. The reason why Flash doesn't hold her with his hands and just nudges her with fingers is because he is moving super fast. @freedomtyrelllight9475 doesn't matter how long it was it was a stupid ass scene regardless. Literally, nobody is surprised this movie never got a sequel & the Snyderverse got canceled.
You guys have such fantastic attention to detail, and such a great ability to identify and analyse the most minuscule/subtle things, but somehow typed "Synder" in the part 3 intro.
Typos, not even they can escape it
Saw that too.. was waiting for the joke. Nope, just a regular typo.
Snyder's Steppenwolf felt so real when he stepped in that puddle.

It's the worse
There are literally people and my friends who complained that cgi in Snydercut is bad. From what I have heard experts and little of my knowledge the cgi is flawless. It's incredible how much effort they put and that too in a period of 7 months
I know, they just take it for granted (also the music and set-, costumedesign etc. and just want to be entertained) - and don't think about it too much or at all. I have to say that some cgi is good and some is bad, but is mostly good - so oversimplyfied it's good; to me.
This is so perfect. And just as Vin stated in a comment below. We need a part 2 maybe 3 and 4. I in no way came up with this idea. Credit goes to the posts before me that mentioned it.
And after just this review, you can appreciate the Zack Cut even more. You also highlighted some stuff I didn't even think about when I saw it.
Do an episode just on the Knightmare scene. So much going on there.
And the question on everyone's mind. Now that you highlighted it. How in the hell did they do that puddle, the mud and the stick?
5:29 As a fellow Brody I take offence to this
Interviwer: What is you favorite shot in the new Justice League Snyder Cut?
Wren: Ohh!! The puddle, 100% best moment.
Srsly tho why would whedon take that masterpiece out😤
mooch no idea 😭
Henry Cavill with clean shave:
superman
Henry Cavill with moustache: omni man
4:21 it's actually the opposite the image was originally shot in 4:3 but its upper and lower parts have been removed to fit in 16:9
It would be super cool to have Matt from WETA (or anyone else who worked on the films) back on the couch to discuss the differences between both cut and how they approached it, etc
I figured Flash had to treat the girl gently because... y'know, superspeed, breaking bones with sudden g-forces and vector changes. Things like that.
That's the logic behind his powers, in practical terms they mean not touching her so much it would make the cgi harder to execute.
You are correct. If not careful, he could have killed her.
molecular whiplash
its usually cannon with the flash that this isnt the case but its an interesting take for this version
The Flash: **gently grabs and pulls people away from danger**
Quicksilver: **yanks people and throws them around to rescue them**

"Steppenwolf just looks like a dude!"
*checks DC comics*
Oh...
Yeah, but in the comics, it's a real dude, not an Alien-like Liam Neeson...
@@anarcocapitalistadexiaomi1951 isn't he from apocolypse also? So an alien
@@YoureRightIThink No shit...
@@YoureRightIThink He’s an alien, but like other characters from Apocalypse in the comics, he just looks like a human.
He is a dude in the comics, but here he looks like a 60-year-old man with the skin texture of Spongebob's mom, wearing irregular-patterned medieval light armor, and being built like a regular guy, not Steppenwolf.
What I think is craziest about reshooting Justice League was a bad movie got recreated so it was a beautifully choreographed, visually stunning, long bad movie with a lame apocalypse, box macguffins, unlikeable superheroes and a bland villain.
The best difference for me with the Snyder version is darkside shooting the bolt underwater and it spells “end”.
You should give Superman a mullet too, he has one when he comes back in the comics, and apparently Snyder wanted to give him one but WB wouldn’t allow it.
He said if they wanted it gone for any reason, taking it out would be too hard
@@darkgamersupreme2348 This is true, the mullet would have been too hard to remove, had it not work out.
Superman's suit is also colored black in the post, that's easy to reverse to blue.
I would like to point out one more thing about Steppenwolf’s Snydercut Armor: it conveys more emotion about Steppenwolf.
A prime example would be the FaceTime with Darkseid. His armor would retract a bit from his face to his collarbone as he kneels down to him. It conveys more emotion about Steppenwolf’s Loyalty to Darkseid and how he is entirely desperate to return to his side.
Actually, it went to his collarbone when Darkseid first showed up, then as Steppenwolf started kneeling, his armor completely retracted to his waist, leaving him bare-chested. Definitely a sign of reverence.
11:21 can we take a moment to admire how gorgeous her abs are?

"Mission impossible mustache edition" 😂😅 made my week
I'm not a CGI artist but when I see them talk about something done so well it makes me realise how much effort they put into their work their passion especially the director of a movie with their vision and when I see these guys fall in love this stuff it makes me love it too.
Lowkey i had no idea Freddie and Jimmy Wong had such an insanely interesting family history between their Dad SWIMMING to freedom and their Uncle directing that movie Amy Johnston showed the other week. Plus both of them are incredible film makers and people in their own right
Their uncle has directed way more than just that movie, by the way. Corey Yuen is a major player in the history of martial arts movies.
@@RepublicOfUs cool i didnt know that!
The Snyder cut is light years better than 2017, it’s just so good!
@@legostuds680 i disagree, 2017 isn’t great or good, but imo, ZSJL is great, it has an extra 2 and a half hours of footage that gave us a little bit more context.

DID THEY REALLY NOT REACT TO THE FLASH SCENE
We need a solo episode just on that scene, that gave me chills, shit.
I think they didn’t want to spoil anything in this video.
@@theinvictussamaritan4778 the movie came out almost a month ago
@@TheWartechgaming In my opinion waiting less then a month old is too soon for spoiling. I'd say give it a month
@@RusticVisuals It's not even in cinemas, if you care, then you watched it already
@@TheWartechgaming that's very dick-ish and not everybody has access to the movie on the same day
One thing that really popped to my eyes in both versions is The Flash's suit. In Whedon's red filter it was so dull that you couldn't even actually look at the white circle in his logo, the details felt dull. And in Snyder's "gray-blue-ish" his suit feels so vivid that it draws my attention without being distracted. The white circle was popping off, it finally felt like a metal attire and the red felt deeper... What a difference does a "simple filter" makes, huh?
To be fair to the theatrical cut, Steppenwolf in the comics is literally just a human looking dude.
Just like most of the New Gods type characters. They look like humans with outlandish fetish armor.
@@maximusprime3459 That is because the concept of the New Gods was essential Two Worlds, A World of Super-Heroes and a World of Super-Villains. And most of them have visited Earth and played part in its history so they had to look like humans. A lot of them were also inspired from human figures in history and myth. High Father was essentialy Moses.
@@johnnyskinwalker4095 ...ok.
I'm actually happy with that 360 change. His most definitive design is a green suit.
Yeah, he is just a human looking dude, but he doesn't looks like Liam Neeson
