@@Orion-V All the things you mention happen in a later movie, written and directed by a different person. There's a reasonable complaint to be made about the inconsistency of the trilogy, but the internal logic of this scene, based off of the prior events, is fine. The sequel trilogy is definitely sloppy with this stuff, but this doesn't seem like a good instance of it.
I will also definitely agree that this fight scene is badly choreographed and/or edited, with the guards waiting for their cues, etc., but it's simply not resolved by flipping around more.

    Really enjoyed this.
4:20 that fight's really bad, kudos for Eric Linden calling it out. The stuntmen probably had to do those spins because they were painted into a corner. They were expected to look busy in lengthy, wide angles where everyone stands around butt naked swinging their sticks. You could salvage some of this choreography with coverage, but if you wanna shoot it all wide and slow, you need better choreography.

Something that should be pointed out is that the way the scene is set up is trying SUPER hard to hide that stuff in the moment, though. We've got both our main characters, one in white and the other in black, right in the middle of the frame with everyone else wearing bright red with red weapons on a red background, so when you're just casually watching the film, all you're really catching is the reactions of the main characters and the fact that movement is happening in your peripherals. And because it's done in pretty long takes without using stuntmen, things aren't going to work out perfectly, but you can tell that everything about how its shot is trying to get around that as much as possible.
That's kind-of why I feel like it gets a bit too much flack, right? Because this is pretty standard and you can tell they're trying to make things work in a way where you won't really tell mid-film because the big point is that these two characters are working together to overcome these guys. So they want everything to be focused on these characters with a lot of focus on their faces and actions. But because it's Star Wars, I feel like it gets a lot more hate than it really deserves because people are extra critical of the new films overall due to nostalgia and stuff.

Either watch the movie trying to find everything they fucked up, or enjoy the work of 200 million dollars put into action.|| At first it was fun to watch things just to point out their flaws, but then i realized i was becoming cynical, and wasnt actually taking time to enjoy the movie, instead, i was still stuck on the previous scene, thinking about how they could've done it differently so that I missed the entire next scene. 3:20 lol I'm so glad they mentioned this part where Cavill "reloads" his arms. That was one of the best scenes in the movie and that tiny bit in the trailer is a large part of why I even went to watch that film. The entire fight is great but that little move of his is one of the most badass of all time! You saw someone charging at you like that and you'd be OUT!

there is also good story behind it .. first time he did it accidentally, not thinking about it, during the repeat scene he didnt do it and director asked him to do it again with the hands, Henry asked what hands .. and it got into movie. Henry talked about it somewhere.

    • @christiandelgado1159

The story is even funnier because after doing the "arm reload" Henry got really embarrassed and couldn't replicate it. So they used the original and had to splice it into 2 different scenes. If you watch very carefully his beard grows longer and a pocket magically appears on his shirt😂😂😂(different shooting day)
Its so well hidden and such a good shot that I'm surprised that they don't talk about it here.

Love these videos but feel I have to point out that when you cited Jackie Chan’s referencing Buster Keaton as an influence, the clip of the guy free climbing the building and hanging off the clock was Harold Lloyd (from the film: Safety Last), not Buster Keaton. Lloyds stunts had the added frissance of knowing that his right hand was virtually useless after an accident when a bomb exploded in his hand during a photo shoot.
But minor nitpick aside, loving these reacts (as well as VFX reacts) and would love to see more reacts/break downs of old-skool work, both stunts and VFX.

My problem with the Punisher season 2 fight scenes wasn't the execution and choreography, which were very well done. My problem was with the lack of motivation and connection to the story with them. Throwing nameless mooks at the hero just gets boring after a while, regardless of how awesome the fighting is. My favorite fight scenes are always just as much about the drama and story as they are about the fight. This fight scene from Rob Roy is probably one of my all time favorites: czcams.com/video/ERmM5l2ceoY/video.html
Not only have the stakes of the film and the conflict between the characters been building to this moment, but the scene also calls back character stuff that was established in previous scenes. For example, in previous scenes, Liam Neeson was able to escape from the bad guy because he did something very surprising and completely unexpected. Here, the same thing happens, even though the villain is a much better swordsman.
