You have a lovely home and garden. Its a keeper! 😉 If you dont mind me suggest a few small changes in the living room before the viewings, I have bought, fixed up and sold properties for 17 years. Try to put the ottoman/pouf in front of the sofa as a chaise longue, or use it as a coffee table with a tray on top. Take out the extensions on your dinner table. And those side tables, group them together. Its all about maximizing the space, or give an illusion of space. Your kitchen looks spotless, and I love the dresser! 😍

@@ShoestringJane Hahaha.. That is the tricky part, and packing everything down, for the move, something will not appear, until you don´t need it anymore! 😅 But, sure you want to move? The house is lovely, and it will be hard to find such a nice big garden. 💕

What a lovely home and garden you have, I love the “quirkiness” of the house and your furnishings make it so homely, I don’t care for the grey, glass and chrome furnishings everyone has these days, but to each their own.

    Hi Jane,
Your home is lovely and you have made it your own and improved it so it suits you.
From experience... remember that you know your own homes quirks, when things were done and when they will need doing, in a new home that isn't the case and you may be surprised by expensive fixes like leaking pipes, faulty boiler, leaking roof... surveys don't really shed light on these things.
You know your neighbours, which ones are good and which ones aren't.
You have a lovely garden where you can grow some food, this will be more necessary in the future.
You have plenty storage space... WOW those sheds 😁
You have lovely walks that are safe and beautiful.
As you said, moving is expensive... can you not use that money to make your house even more perfect for you.
Moving is stressful, do you need that stress in your life?
Whatever decision you make I wish you and Justin all the best, much love and appreciation x x

Good morning britain , France is on this place , i live in south of France as a single man without family , i'm frugalist in order to be on retirement as soon as possible , this is how i do it :
In december 2022 , i will be 40 years old and have closed the reimbursement of my apartment purchased in january 2014 , 12 years money earn back thanks to my savings on transport-food-accomodation , for instance , just a bike to go working because i left my car last monday because of inflation and european union will ban petrol and diesel cars for 10 years , i'm very careful with my health , no smoke , no alcohol , only electric equipment in my house , no subscriptions channels......etc
Next year , i would like to invest in rental real estates to get more money for retirement and protect from inflation , i hope to find something beautiful , i wish you the best in your goal , god save the Queen and vive la France 😉

Lots of excellent suggestions on here for anyone looking for tips. To live more frugally means to me, excitement and a challenge at finding ways to do things better and care for our environment regarding waste. I enjoy sewing and hunting in opshops. A few weeks ago I found a lovely linen tablecloth for $5 Au that I made into a dress, and I had enough leftover to make a crossover (at the back) apron with roomy pockets. I am not an expert dressmaker but I have learnt so much off CZcams, even how to draft simple patterns. I also search through the boxes of used vintage patterns when opshopping. At fabric stores I always look for end of rolls of fabric which can be bought for a fraction of the price. I recently scored enough gingham to make into half a dozen lovely pillowcases. My husband and I are reading addicts and always shop at markets for our books. I then donate them to 0pshops such as Vinnies or the Salvos. Thank you for this lovely video. 🐾🦋

I think you would have to be insane to sell such a fantastic property! You would never find anything as good, and you have your garden areas planted and all your possessions; it would be a nightmare to move. I know you said you won't sell unless you find something better, but, unless you have absolutely horrible neighbors or some other issues in the community or you can no longer afford it, why would you even consider moving with such a fabulous place? You have everything set up the way you want it, too. A new house would be a stranger to you, and you would feel a strange in it. It would upset the equilibrium of your life. That's my reaction after seeing the tour. Please forgive me if I'm being too blunt. I'm sure you probably have excellent reasons that I don't know about.

It’s a lovely home - if you plan to stay. However, if you are serious about selling, you need to keep in mind that it’s not just about finding bargain things to stage it. You want to maximize the money you will get for your home. You don’t want to save a few hundred pounds on things to stage it, but leave possibly thousands because you did not declutter and depersonalize, at least somewhat. It is really worth a few hours to pack up things on the counters, tea towels, a few plants, etc. People viewing a home need to picture their things in it.

I say if the walls are dodgy best thing is to get them professionally skim coated and then paint them. Probably best to do this before replacing the carpet. Having the curtain in front of the radiator seems like a fire hazard, although maybe you just use the wood burner. I kind of see you have a bit of a layout issue where you have to go through the kitchen to get to your office and have to go through the kitchen to get to the bathroom.

    • @ShoestringJane
      @ShoestringJane  Před 2 lety

It's very expensive to get the walls properly skimmed - this was a frugal option. We often have curtains in front of our radiators here - never known one go up in flames. The radiators don't get that hot, I guess.
