- Mobile Home Homemaking video! Welcome to my homemaking motivation video where I take you along with me as I work on my Tiny Kitchen! My old trailer is 455 square feet. To get my mobile home in better condition I had to do a renovation and makeover. My small mobile home may not be big but it feels larger because of how I set it up! This video is different from what I usually make like food pantry hauls but I do hope you enjoy it! I also have some frugal living tips in this video as I show you what life is like living in a small space. I hope you enjoy this day in the life of living in my office trailer. Living in a one bathroom trailer can be a challenge. I bought the best single wide I could afford. It needed a good old fashioned mobile home cleaning plus renovations. My renovation budget was too small to do the house design I wanted. Instead I put in endless hours of mobile home cleaning. I hope you enjoy my mobile home vlog! Plus we are going to Habitat for Humanity also known as the Restore!
Mobile Home Homemaking can be a work in progress!
My Singlewide Mobile Home is not big but it's a great opportunity to make the most out of what I have! My home decorating ideas for my living room is focused on furniture placement and colorful fabrics with patterns. I applied an interior design principle in my trailer that may not be obvious because I do not have the finest furnishings. I used symmetry! It works in any home on any budget. You can make a nice space for yourself, it takes creativity when your budget is low or non-existent.
MOBILE HOME HOMEMAKING & FRUGAL LIVING
It is a blessing to have a home that I can offer homemaking motivation videos to help you make the most out of what you have! In my mobile home spend the day with me you would find me tidying up and putting things in designated spaces. Mobile home homemaking means making the best home I can using what I got! I use fabric storage containers housing off-season items and supplies under the bed. This is one of my interior design tips for Storage so I can store items out of sight.
MOBILE HOME HOMEMAKING:
This video is a day in the life of mobile home living! One necessary step I must take is keep the floor space clear. I make my home look more neat and tidy by putting things away. When you live in a small home, try to utilize space the best you can so you can safely walk within your home. Create a defined pathway to avoid tripping. If you would see a mobile home clean with me then you'd find me clearing the path in my home, so I can safely walk around! The struggle is real and it's important to create a routine that works for you! My floors are down to the sub flooring. It may not be the prettiest but it's what I'm working with.
HOMEMAKING MOTIVATION
The space is a minimalist home tour but the amount of things I have do fill up the space quickly. I had to figure out how to maximize a tiny space. I make my space work for me and improve as I go. When I can, I upgrade items to better quality items.
Mobile Home Clean With Me
Keeping your floors clear will help your home feel large! Design your space with storage in mind so you can get the most out from your furniture. When I moved here, I had very little furniture, it took time to build up to what I have today.
FRUGAL LIVING
Living in a small singlewide mobile home has challenges. It would be easier if I had a "junk room" but I have to work with what I got. I have one closet housing a water heater. The closet has room to store items which I utilize to the max. Use what you've got, buy what you can, and make the most out of your home whether you live in an apartment, in a mobile home trailer or any other kind of home. You can make a nice home! Going to the thrift store and dumpster diving to decorate your home takes time, so give yourself plenty of room to be creative!
KITCHEN TOUR
In today's video I include a kitchen tour! I had fun making it and maybe will do more in the future. I hope you enjoy!

Hi Sara. A microwave needs airflow clearance on top of this appliance. However , you can store something on top of it , but you must remove it as soon as you heat up something in the microwave.
Also. You can drain and double rinse with water the canned items that have too much sodium. That should help cut some of the sodium.
Thank you, Helen! That's great info. I appreciate it!
A 93yr old friend of mine always gives her canned high sodium foods a good rinse before she cooks and seasons to her taste.
@rebeln.oxford9390 Thank you, it's a good idea!
A microwave only needs clearance to the sides, that’s where the vent slits are.
@janetsides901 Thank you for the info! I was looking for my microwave manual. But can't find it!
On the higher sodium canned goods, rinse them thoroughly, and probably half the sodium will be gone.
Great idea, thank you so much!
Loved watching you rearrange your kitchen-- which inspired me to stop the video for a few minutes and switch a few items in my kitchen.
That's great! I'm glad my video inspired you to work on your kitchen, too! Yay!
Me too!
You solved my problem! I have a tall book case used for storage in the guest room your fabric covers will work perfectly. Thanks. Oh, your subscribers have helpful comments too.😊
That's wonderful, I'm glad it helped! Using fabric is a great way to make things look neat and tidy. Only you know what's behind the curtain!
With the cann good you can drain and rinse the food off a few times and what I do is not any seasoning back to it!!
That's a really good idea, thank you very much!
hi, sarah! keeping busy for sure. nice things at habitat for humanity and nice prices too. i need to organize the canned goods here but you have an awesome stock. eye surg number 1 is in the past. i have 12 more days of positioning which is getting tiresome but it's what the doctor ordered. looking out my left eye is looking out over heavy fog but that is to be expected. take care, see you tuesday.
Hi Karen! I'm glad you have the 1st surgery done, that's great! I hope you heal quickly. Have a wonderful weekend, Karen, God Bless You!
Good deal on rocking chair
Hi Lois! I like that rocking chair, too. It was already sold. Someone got a great deal!
Me and Mamma Lucy love your videos. We watch you in the morning before we start to do our DoorDashing and Ubereats. Thank you for making your videos ❤❤❤
Thank you for watching! I’m glad you both enjoy my channel. I have a lot of fun making the videos. Have a great night!
You just cut and tossed a whole salad from your yard. Since you have natural land/plot and no dog, you should look up edible yard greens to supplement soups, salads, and plain dishes like rice and pasta. You just cut: curly dock (lemony spinach), chick weed (mild spinach), dandelion green and cats ear (peppery bitter green like arugula), I think a wild mustard green, and you left violet leaves behind you (mild spinach, full of vit C) and several wild lettuces. Violet flowers and yellow dandelion flowers (shredded) are great in salads (or make a light refreshing tea)
I love your idea! You are very knowledgeable about plants. I would not harvest food from the ground where I live because of the chemicals used on the upper lands. Maybe it's okay. What do you think?
@@CareFreeLivingChannel you do have to careful about agriculture chemicals, particularly glyphosate (round up) since it’s a forever chemical. But I will harvest above ground plants if the land has been fallow for several years. Industrial chemicals are a different story. Just know your land and research-there is a wealth of info both online, through apps and you tube. Start with “common wild edibles in [your area]”. You also should always pass any plant that is within 50 feet of a roadside. You don’t have to be as stringent with forest (or small copses) grown plants and a lot of the leafy greens will grow there in the shade of the trees.
Great info! Thank you for sharing it. It’s always good to learn new things. One of the reasons I take my outdoor shoes off is in case I bring in chemical residue from the uphill water runoff that flows down.
Love habitat for humanity stores. Looked like yours had some great prices. Saw a couple things I could use. 😊
Really liked the way you fix everything up so nice. It always inpires me. Thanks for sharing all you do.
There were a lot of really nice things at Habitat! I'm glad you enjoyed my video tonight. Have a great night and thank you for watching!
Hi.....I was lol bc I did the same thing with my utility rack months ago. I put up a very sheer curtain with dollar tree hooks. I labeled with labels that I pinned to the rack so they wouldn't fall off. Yes I save all glass jars!! Ketchup one can be used for a salad dressing shake up things well. ❤
Adding the curtain panels help "tidy up" the look of the storage rack! Glass jars are great to re-use. I especially like the wide-mouth glass peanut butter jars. Have a great night!
Hey Sarah, hope this day found you well❤ I really loved looking at all the cool furniture today. I can’t believe the great prices on some of those things. You can tell some of the items were much loved. It’s sad in a way, yet lovely if someone can give them some love again. We don’t have any places like that by me. I would go there often. I’m very much like you - always finding a way to rearrange my room from time to time. It’s fun and can be refreshing too! 😊
It is a lot of fun to rearrange my space! I enjoy thrifting and shopping at Habitat. I enjoy looking at all of it. There was a set of glass panel doors I really like. I'd like to build an awning for my porch, and would love something like that to add to it. I hope you have a great weekend!
@@CareFreeLivingChannel you know, that’s a great idea! It would help with any nasty weather too! Would you know anyone who can help construct something like that?
I do have someone in mind that could build it for me. We shall see! The "project list" is growing around here!
Hi Sarah! I’m catching up on Saturday and it is SO NICE to have your sweet video to start my day! It is fun to see you & to watch you arrange your kitchen ! I’ll be rearranging the pantry today ! Those colorful birds are so cute ! I hope you have a beautiful blessed weekend !! 🙏🙂
Thank you very much! I love to work on my space. Living in a small home has a lot of challenges with storage. It's great to make improvements. I got the set of bird clips from the thrift store (I think for $1.50), they brighten up my day. I hope you have a great weekend, too! Enjoy the video!
You are a great example of making the very best of what you have. The salad looked lovely
Thank you so much! I love preparing pretty plates of food. Vegetables are full of beautiful colors. It makes the meal!
Love your ideas! Your a good go getter for sure! Enjoy your weekend! ~ Tink
Hi Tink! Thank you very much. I enjoy organizing my home. Have a great night, Tink!
Love your videos and I always watch all of them. Tell us your life story and why you live in a mobile home, please.
Thank you so much! I might do that one day, thank you for your suggestion. I enjoy making these videos and so happy you enjoy them!
Love what you did with your kitchen looks more open.
Thank you very much! It's a work in progress, for sure.
Have a nice weekend Sarah & will see ya back for your weekly food pantry Haul on Tuesday, have a sweet blessed day dear friend,. Oh & your kitchen organizing looks fantastic .
Thank you! I'm glad to get the kitchen set up a little better. Have a great weekend!
Hi! Watching as I type. Apple cores are great for compost although might want to chop it smaller. I always have issues with chords.. 🤔🤔🤔 Great ideas!! When you went to habitat for humanity I loved the white rocking chair it would be nice to set outside on the porch on Sunny Days! I also grew up with glass jarred ketchup/mustard. 😊 Member put the weeds with compost!! I'm feeling a bit overly seasoned!!😮 I can't figure out what seasoning though...!! Certainly not from your videos just a bit marinated by stress!😖😖😖😖 Have a blessed weekend. Say hello to Mister Turtle!!🐢🐢🐢
Good idea to make the kitchen scraps smaller to compost. The rocking chair was a great deal, someone already got to it, but that's OK, it was meant for them. Thank you for the info to compost weeds, too. Mr. Turtle says hello! I hope you have a fantastic weekend, too!
We like to toss canned chicken in a little warmed salsa and make tacos or burritos. Add grated cheese, onion, lettuce.
That sounds delicious! I don't think I've ever warmed up salsa. I'll have to try your idea!
Good Saturday afternoon Sarah. Sorry I didn't watch your video last evening. I was extremely tired yesterday and just relaxed in the recliner. I like your little kitchen. The cans if you could stack them 3 or 4 high you could get more room. If you have any little containers you could separate the applesauce. Yes you can put apple cores in the compost. Our closest Habitat for Humanity is about 2 hours away, so I've never been to one, but love to go. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Take care and God bless.
Hi Sara! Relaxing in a recliner sounds good to me! I like your suggestion to stack the cans higher. Good to know about the apple cores for the compost bin! Habitat for Humanity is a nice place to shop. Have a great weekend, Sara, God Bless You!
The other day while watching another video. They were adding pepper and I caught myself singing 🎶 It's pepper time. 🎶
Awww that’s cute!
*I have a little bit of everything…Do anybody need a toilet brush?*😂😂😂
Haha! One day a friend's gonna say "I need a toilet brush" and I'll be like "I got you!"
I would love to see what you make with the can food. Love your ideas and you've got a pretty good stockpile. Tuna and green beans are two foods we can't seem to get enough of. 😊
Thank you for your suggestion! I will keep your idea in mind. Thank you for watching my video!
Like what you did in your kitchen. I think it's time to rearrange mine!
Thank you! It's that time of year for Spring cleaning. I enjoy setting up my space to work for me. Have fun rearranging your kitchen!
Sara, l am so glad you have a full pantry. Everything looks great. Really if l was you l would not get a little stove. What you have is perfect. Love you have a washer too. I hang air dry my clothes too. Everything in my tiny is used or from thrift stores.
Thank you! I try to rotate the food but there's always cans that get left behind. I absolutely love having a washer. There was a time I had to wash by hand, and I can do it but much prefer a washer! I did keep my "laundry plunger" tool just in case. Brand new appliances are so expensive. I like the countertop appliances because if it fails, it's not a burden to haul away! Something I look for is a camper stove, like you'd find in an older RV (propane 2 or 3 burner). If I get one, I can set up a 20 pound propane tank to run it. Air drying clothing is great! Saves electricity and helps clothes last longer. I love thrift store shopping for my home. I don't mind rolling up my sleeves and cleaning items to make it work for me!
My 20 inch stove uses a 20 pound propane bottle. Now that took Mt 4 years to save up. I bought it from Home Depot and they delivered it to my front door 2 weeks later already set up for propane. Looking for a used one is smart. I handwashed clothes when our power grid was out several days. It was not so bad but glad l have my 20 year old washer! Love your changes and organizing skills.
It's good to save up to avoid appliance debt! The older washers were built to last. I'm glad you have a good washer! Thank you for watching my video tonight! I love organizing my home.
I like it
Thank you!
Love your videos--such a nice place you have, peace and quiet, good food--you've been truly blessed. Take care, you are appreciated💕
Thank you very much! It's wonderful to have a place to call home! I love peaceful settings and make my home as nice as I can. Have a great weekend!
Hi Sarah! I enjoyed your video…kitchen and pantry looking good. The Habitat For Humanity had some great prices. I saw so many things I would have gotten. Tis the season for weeds! My backyard is a jungle-will have to move the feline nursery inside to take care of it. Enjoy your weekend. 👋🏻😀
Hi Judy! How is the newest kitten doing? I'm glad to work on the kitchen and hallway pantry. It's long overdue! The weeds get out of control so easily. I don't use chemicals, just pull them or cut them back the best I can! I hope you have a great weekend, too, Judy!
@@CareFreeLivingChannel Mama Cat doesn’t like visitors so I don’t look as often as I’d like, but the few times I’ve seen it, it looks well. Feisty enough to hiss at me! 😀
Also meant to say, combining cans of beans, veggies, etc. to make a “soup” is genius!
Kittens are so cute, even when they hiss! Yes, combining the canned goods is a great way to "doctor up" a soup, love doing that. And it's tasty!
❤
Thank you for watching!
Love how your organize your canned goods! And I love those Mandarin oranges! Gosh I love oranges period lol another good video!
Thank you so much! I'm thinking of those Habitat for Humanity Upper cabinets, that sure would be nice to have and store away the food. We shall see! Mandarin Oranges are so tasty! I enjoy adding them to cottage cheese and to salads.
My older daughter loves those canned and jarred fruits! Her little sister not so much but enjoy fresh fruits! But to me either way is tasty! I know the struggle for having a small space! Before we bought the house I always struggled with a small fridge and no pantry storage! Now I have a big pantry and a large gas stove and a huge island! I just absolutely love my new kitchen! Still don’t have enough space!😅😅😂😂😂
Your kitchen sounds beautiful! If I don't get fresh fruits, canned is a great option. I'm thinking about those upper cabinets at Habitat for Humanity. They seem on the tall side for my space but it might could work. Have a great weekend!
@@CareFreeLivingChannelthank you! We moved quite a few times within the last decade or so lol finally purchased a house and settling down for good! And I absolutely love our dream home! My favorite kitchen in my life so far! The sellers just updated all appliances and all the kitchen cabinetry last year before we bought it! I feel so blessed! ❤❤❤
@@CareFreeLivingChanneldo you have a Facebook page or some thing?
Your kitchen is looking good.
If you drain and then rinse your canned veggies that will remove a lot of the sodium. I rise my canned tuna and chicken too.
That's a great idea on rinsing the canned items, thank you! I'm enjoying my kitchen. It's coming along!
Hi Sarah,
Very nice video. I enjoyed watching it. What is succutash (??)? May you do a video cooking with it and how it tastes? 😊😊
Thank you! Succotash is corn and lima beans. It's really good. Thank you for watching tonight!
Sarah!! I love those jeans!! ARe they one of your recent thrift finds? They look great on you. Also, I need to go to habatit myself. So thanks for showing what yours has.
Thank you! Yes, I got the jeans on a thrift haul! Habitat's a fun place to shop. They offer a lot of unique items!
@@CareFreeLivingChannel YOu're welcome. i'M LOOKING for a fairly inexpensive pice of furniture to turn into a cat litter box hideaway for my cats something that looks like furniture as the ones on amazon are too rich for my blood and our house is pretty small so there is really no where ideal to put a litter box. so my hope is to get that done sooner than later.
I bet you'll find something great thrifting! There's so much good stuff out there to transform it into what you need. For about a year, I used a large cardboard box for my coffee table. It was nice and square. I wrapped a blanket around it and could not tell it was cardboard!
Rinsing canned vegetables and discarding the canned liquid will reduce sodium.
Great idea, thank you for letting me know!
Just be careful that the Cooktown isn't blocking the air vents in the microwave. Just check where the vents are because microwaves need ventilation.
Good point! The vents are on the side!
I wish mustard still came in the little glass jars. I feel like mustard is wasted in the squeeze containers.
I know what you mean! I remember when single-serve drinks came in glass bottles or aluminum. Only two liters were in plastic when I was growing up. And bottled water was not available as a single-serve option. I miss the old days!
Do you live in a trailer park or have your own land? Hope it’s ok to ask enjoy your videos
I own my trailer but not the land. It would be nice to own land, maybe one day, you never know!
Hi dear
Hello! Thank you for watching my video this evening!
Get yourself a tote and keep extra groceries in it so you don’t have so much in the open. Then you can store it out of the way.
I like your idea to use a tote bag to store items! Thank you for your suggestion.
I eat orange on my salad
Love adding fruit to salads, too!
leave your dark curtains
Thank you for your vote, Lois! Maybe I could add some fringe to it.
Just my opinion but I think you have too much stuff for the size of your kitchen.
I do have a lot for sure. Thanks for watching my Channel!
When you use the camera can you please give us more or a bigger view of the room or area. Most all your camera angles are very close up on the items. And you really can’t get an look at the actual room. Most people don’t video sooooo close to things.
Thank you for letting me know!
