Living tiny eliminates a huge amount of stress. Everything is close and simple. Cleaning is easier. Owning less things but of higher quality means more thoughtfulness about immediate surroundings. When you get older and start forgetting why you went into one room, the last room is just four feet away. LOL
Thank You for a fantastic message. You are awesome 👌!
Sounds like you need to brag on channels that focus on people of more humble resources. Kudos to you. 🎉
who are you talking to? and what are you talking about? @@jc10907Sealy
Absolutely
If you keep your cauli leaves and stalk and cook them in veggie stock with some dried herbs or curry spices then blend you get a gorgeous soup which is lovely and light for the warmer months or add in rice or potato in the winter for a heartier soup, add a little nutritional yeast on top for a lovely cheesy taste.
Two years ago, we went down to one income so I could stay home with our son and our budgeting completely changed. I can no longer buy anything I want, but I find I don’t need much. We cook from scratch, and that makes the days fly by so there is no time for shopping aimlessly and we downsized our home from 4000 sq ft to 1400 sq ft. Some think this is a downgrade, but mentally and emotionally it’s been a major upgrade and I no longer feel in competition with others. Of course at times, buying something new is a necessity, but more often than not I am able to pick up “want” and even need items at thrift stores and estate sales. Kudos to you on slow living as well and for creating hygge in your home.
I’m so glad I read your comment. I have been wanting to upsize our home but I know it will cost a lot more and I’m wondering if a small space might be just enough.
Meat is expensive so even if you arent vegan or vegetarian, it definitely cuts down on costs to do at least four meals a week that is meatless.
I have an estate sale business so I’ve seen the stress accumulation causes. People just keep buying and sometimes they have boxes of new items unopened. So I’m very conscious of this. I keep very little. I prefer good used items, things that are useful. I re-use and recycle things. I cook, read and spend time outdoors. Simple things make me the happiest.
"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" - Leonardo Da Vinci
On the rare occasion when I buy a book (I too live in the library; it’s my “third place”), I purchase it from a small, independent, local bookstore.
Just a little tip, leave the skin on your butternut squash, it stops it going mushy and tastes lovely, I learnt this on a Carribean cookery course .
money is power isnt it? I love budgeting and being in control of what I spend.. for me Id rather have a healthy bank acct than brand new clothing or furniture! loved the vid thanku!

Gosh I am such a city girl but these kinds of videos make me want to live in a village / nature
You are a girl after my own heart. I detest waste and recycle everything, even though I'm economicaly very stable. I cook everyday and absolutely ADORE it. I also grow most of my veggies . But, i think it's atrocious that in this modern day and age the system is deliberately making people poor. Shame on them !!!!
So beautiful and inspiring video. I am living a slow and simple life in Norway. I live a good life with little money. I save so much money because of my lifestyle, like you do. I like your dog, I am living with a Boarder Collie too. Sending you a hug from Norway 🌿💚
Thank you lovely! I'd love to visit Norway one day! 😊
That is something I'd love to aspire to!
Jeg er så glad for å høre at flere i norge vil leve et minimalisert sakte liv og bare glede seg over de små hverdagslige tingene ❤
I have been shifting my life to a small village from a big city. There are mountains, fields, rivers, and clean water. The more I live in the village, the less money I use, and the more rich lifestyle. We can be more creative how to enjoy every day. I really agree with your video.
I live in West Virginia in the mountains. I take living in this area often for granted. I am going to try to get out and enjoy the area more.
As a librarian, it makes me very happy to hear that you use the library. ❤ A great thing about the Norwegian library system is that you can use a National library search and order books from all over Norway to pick up at your local library. All for free of course.
We don't have a lot of charity shops here, and getting second hand books can be harder most places than getting them from the library.
Have you ever tried Better World Books? I have tried them once...
What a wonderful job! No but I'll have to look them up :)
@@hippyhighlandliving I have had my fair share of jobs where I've been unhappy or was overqualified for, so I'm glad I decided to do my second education and take my Bachelor's in LIS!
I‘m an avid library lover as well! I live in Hamburg, Germany and we can order book from each of the many libraries all over hamburg, also free of charge and we can even suggest books and they often buy them!!
We can also order books from other libraries in England ❤
@@EmilyJohnson-jh6jd I had my second year work placement in Scotland, and I remember patrons having to pay a fee for inter library loans. I remember being very surprised, as it's free here. Also, my library card is national, and can be used in all Norwegian public libraries, and some universities. 🖤
Cooking from scratch is likely to be cheaper & will certainly be healthier. You usually get more for your money. It depends on what you are cooking & if it’s a one off. You have to take cooking costs into account too. Planning meals. Shopping online & sticking to a budget. Meal prep & freezing surplus veg. Using all of your oven instead of just for one item. I use a food sealer so when I put meats, often divided, into the freezer they last longer & look better.
Being in nature helps so much with your mental health. I too live in the countryside, I’m retired now after 40 years of a pressured working life. I’m also widowed. But I thank the universe every day for the job I loved, the marriage I had, my family and friends , my 2 dogs, and I now have an allotment where I grow my own vegetables and fruit, and I love to sew my own wardrobe. I am now a new subscriber, I think I’ve found a kindred spirit, x x
Thank you for sharing lovely 💚
Taking walks and reading books by browsing on the bookshelves of my home and in my library are also two of my favorite past-times :)
Love that 😊💚
Idk why but there is something so calming about watching someone chop vegetables and calming to do it oneself as long as not rushed
This channel is right up my alley! I’m a HSP, introvert, bookish, hippy, nature lover, artist, and to top it off Scotland is always in my heart. We lived there 3 years and my first baby was born there 🏴 ❤
I feel like we would be great friends ☺️
Living a simpler, minimalist, low waste vegan life in my small house has given me the luxury of being able to live a life that aligns with my soul and values. A life that benefits my future and not societies. Cheers from Orange County, California.
I’m also from Orange County! Living a simple, minimalist life here is a challenge for sure.
@@tammypavese9676 may I asked curiously what part of Orange County? I am in Santa Ana.
creations landscape designs I’m in San Juan Capistrano.
Veganism is not low waste
@@sparklemotion86 it actually is.
Better World Books is a great resource for used books. They donate a lot of books and just make the world better
Making your own cleaning products is the way to go. Some much cheaper and planet friendly 🌿
Beautiful countryside and a gorgeous dog. How can it any better? ❤ Thank you for sharing.
However small money we earn a part must be saved and from midlife you must be free of earning to survive. Its a consistent habit
“My favorite thing to do tend to be low cost or it may be even free.” 💯❤️
This! This right here. Thank you for sharing your story. I personally believe that so many people NEED this message. Stop buying and start living folks!
I pick dandelion flowers and roses from my garden most days. I place each in ziplock bags, put in freezer. When I have enough of each I make rose petal jam and dandelion honey.
😍
This video is like a brain massage. First of all: your enthusiasm when you are exited about something is really endearing and comforting.
Second, you’re super reasonable. You don’t go to extremes. It’s nice to
I live in an old farm cottage on the coast of the Isle of Arran , Scotland. I thought I would share a solution I use regarding the winter heating bills which have become very high. I have an old suitcase which I tuck away under the sofa. Inside it I keep an old duvet which was past it's time of use on a bed . I fold it concertina style. Then I can tuck between it either a hot water bottle or an old vintage ceramic footwarmer made of clay. The duvet fabric keeps the bottle's warmth for hours and hours. Otherwise on really cold days -it will get cold after an hour . I have known it to stay nice and warm for almost 5 or more hours. You can have the case there open with your feet inside the folds . I know how miserable it is if you cannot get your feet to stay warm. Maybe you dont have this issue ...but I am older. Anyway when I do this I am so cosy I even turn my heating off as long as I am dressed in layers with a rug on my lap/ The main point is that my electricity bills were less than expected last winter. Just an idea to help save money.
You can also eat the stalk, leaves of cauliflower. Also broccoli stalk can be peeled and sliced. Fry or steam, pop in an omelette, soups.
There is something so satisfying about chopping vegetables!
There really is! 😊
I always buy used books off of eBay. They are usually in great condition at a fraction of the price. I can usually find a hard cover for $4 or $5.
I am grateful for algorithm that leads me to your channel.
When I was working in Europe and the Middle East, I spent as much time as I could in Scotland. Probably about 12 visits over 4 years along with trips to Ireland. Love the highlands. And I made certain I visited all the thrift stores I could find. Since I'm retired and on a pension I have very few expenses and my 160 acres are paid for. I forage wild foods and garden. Along with my livestock I'm headed to be self sustainable. I do miss my holidays in the highlands.
Very good athmosphere in your home, positive and mentally healthy energy, hoping you are well.
Wish I can also get a small land and be away of everything , love it ❤
Foraging for some food around us would be both exciting and cost-saving 😊
I agree!
She is right I live in the city but in my backyard when I said in my kitchen and I look out the back window there’s a beautiful tree and I don’t see any of the houses that are near me. All I see is the tree in the sky and I’ve been looking at it for 22 years. I love it.
Trees are so soothing. I live in small town and I lay on my bed looking at a silver birch and the sky. I don’t see the houses all around me. I’m lucky to be ten miles from Wells Next The Sea, Holkham Beach and nature reserve and have a woodland minutes from my home.
I buy all my books second hand or borrow them (mainly from my mum as she has a very similar taste to me). I also try and donate books back to charity shops after I’ve read them, unless I would give it a 5 star review and I want to keep it! I also do the same with clothes - I buy second hand and donate anything I don’t wear anymore back to charity shops.
Your lifestyle is a dream come true for me
😊💚
I just started watching your channel. I have to say I love your tiny home. A goal of mine is to live in one. I am so ready for a simpler lifestyle.
Aw welcome! I hope you make your dream home one day 😊💚
Cooking basics from scratch and then freezing is simply one of the best ways to save money, even if its just soup for lunches.
However I know it's not easy for everyone with maybe family life or work going on which is why convenience foods have ruled for so long. I started batch cooking first when I was studying and it has stuck ever since, don't get me wrong if I'm in say M&S I will buy something from the chiller to stick in the microwave. I also plan to try and grow veg/herbs this year for the first time. One tip I saw on Twitter was if you buy a basil plant from the supermarket you can actually break it down into quite a few separate plants and repot so you then can have a number of pots to use or share. Great Vlog as always. I always leave yours till last to watch on a Sunday as its just so calming.
Thank you for sharing! That basil tip is great 😊
LOVE LOVE LOVE! Hello from Bristol! Something another CZcamsr said when saving money / stopping spending was to find very TIME CONSUMING, free hobbies, which is so true isn't it! I too LOVE the library, my nearest library is just 8 minutes walk from my house so I don't see how i'll ever buy a brand new book again, also didn't know that you can order any book you fancy online and they will post it to your nearest library - hours of fun! x
Here in the US, we are feeling the pinch of the rising cost of living. Even though we live in a very affordable region, compared with much of the world, it’s still a bit stressful and worrisome at times. Thank you for inspiring others to slow down and look for new ways to cook and make our food budget stretch. Slower living gives us more time for experimentation and creativity. I also love nature. Living in the suburbs, it’s not as lovely as your nature, but I put out bird seed and corn for the deer and squirrels, to encourage them into my backyard. So far, it’s been so fun watching them shyly come around and eat from the food I put out. I have a bird feeder outside my breakfast area in my kitchen, and so many varieties of birds come there and eat while we enjoy our own meals. I love your content, and seeing others’ lives from across the ocean! Blessings, my friend!💜
That’s lovely!
❤❤❤🕊
Frugal Fit Mom on CZcams has a homemade bread recipe for no knead bread, that even with store bought little packets of yeast cost $0.63 a loaf. Obviously sourdough bread is the least expensive but that won’t work for everyone.
Hi, Even through some of my ancestors have been here in America over 375 years, I am 28% Scottish. My Great-grandmother was from the Cameron Line, and another was from the Crawford Line. I do have other Scottish lines. I would love to see Scotland.
I'm never far to this kind of Living not a rich not so poor just an average surviving kind of people. I like your videos it kind'a same to our situation keep doing this girl. 😊🥰😉
I randomly found your channel - but the cartographers is my fave book ever! I loved it!
Your simple peaceful life is very inspirational
I love everything you say! I love books! Love nature my number 1 in my life!! Love cooking and gardens and decafinated coffee! But can't wait to retire and enjoy more.💜💙💚☕️
Hi Suzanne, how's your day going with you?
A lovely calm moment in a busy day, thank you for the lovely episode
I'm so glad you enjoyed 💚.
You live a magical life!! ❤
Thank you for sharing through your videos :).
I enjoyed your video. The music was so relaxing and I appreciate the tips you provided, especially about how mindfulness and gratitude affects many areas in your life.
Thank you Molly, I thoroughly enjoyed this, there’s a calm and peaceful aura here that is so uplifting!
I just love your video and your pup is very blessed precious! I noticed the counter top space in your kitchen...looks like a great place to make a flower basket of cooking herbs. You’ll have it right there, year round, and not cluttery due to the frequency of use.
Best wishes from Wasilla, Alaska!
Your kitchen is adorable!
Thank for helping people .... we need you
Yes I see the place you’re working it’s helping stress-free
Lovely! These recipes sounds great!
I refuse to rely on low cost or free. I am still working at whatever work I can....every day.
In America we work...we build personal Storehouses so we don't have to beg or borrow or rely on Govt stipends.
If prices are high...Get More work!!
Love watching your videos. They have a calming effect every time . xx
I'm so glad 😊
I love your channel and appreciate all that you’re doing. Thank you. 💕
Thank you!

This is such a lovely video. I love the library too :-)
Love watching your videos. Thank you so much again x
I'm so glad 😊💚
Lovely video thanks for sharing 👍 🥰
Hi Molly! Beautiful video and helpful. Thank you. Love the scenery and your home and dog.im in the US on Ling Island wanting to luve a slower and simpler life. I used to take care of a lovely border collie named Zoe. Love her. Stay well. 💕
Simple is good way to be truth thanks for your sharing really enjoy and feel the peaceful
Thank you for the video Miss, if I may say so you have an incredibly beautiful smile.
A few ways I'm saving more is using clubcard coupons and cashback in the supermarket, buying from the reduced section, selling what I don't need on ebay, keeping high interest fixed savings accounts (look into the challenger banks) and waiting a while before I make a non-essential purchase to avoid impulse buying. I have something I want but will make myself wait until Black Friday :).
I needed to see this. Thank you ❤
Ah so peaceful ❤
I learned the word slow living from you, thank you!! Your lifestyle is what I am looking for. As I get older I want to slow down. I am years from retirement so I continue to work daily expect for weekends of course. So on the weekends I slow down. I too buy my pants, sweaters, purse, and blouses second hand.
The scenery where you live is beautiful! I love nature and it's calming and relaxing for me. Thank you for sharing!! 😊❤️
Your videos are very helpful
Fantastic recipe thank you
You're adorable in many ways...thanks for the inspiration❤
This is so true and less stressful. Simple living is best living 💞🐷
such a beautiful, beautiful place ❤🙏 thank you for sharing your lovely videos
That kitchen is so pretty
Thanks for the video
Just watching all your videos on catch up. I couldn't agree more about the library. I'm lucky enough to be member at 2 as I live on the border of 2 separate council areas. However, if I buy 2nd hand, which isn't often, as I have so many on the go from said libraries, I always try to buy from other websites like World of books because Amazon is an awful company(ethical consumer). Oh and I buy books at charity shops as you say.
I'm really enjoying your content and steps towards a minimal life.
Well this is my new favourite channel!! Adore it! Also the fact that you have a BC is the ultimate 💗🥰
Aw thank you! 😊💚
Keep your self saaaaaaafffffeeeee
Greetings from Belize I live on a homestead in bze once live in Glasgow love your videos thank you .
We are lucky to have a charity bookshop in our nearest town which I buy from and donate to. Then in our county town a few miles away there is a book depository where you can take up to 3 books a day for free. It was set up to try and save books from being thrown away.
What a wonderful idea! 😊
Thanks Molly lovely tips. You're an inspiration💚
Thank you 😊💚
Hi Cathy, how's your day going with you?
I am glad I found your video 💐💞
This is healing vlog 🌿 greetings from Philippines 😊
One of my favourite slow hobbies is knitting, unfortunately it's quite expensive😅
Especially when you try to only use natural materials
That's so true! But If you knit things you can wear, I think it kind of pays off anyway. Even if you can get a winterhat cheaper in the stores. But a jumper made of whool is still more expensive in the store.
@@baumwolke2078 yes! That's why I'm mostly knitting clothes at the moment, two for the price of one
@@Rens27 wooow 💪👍
Since raw wool pretty much costs money to get rid it can be picked up for free in places around here, if you can do the carding and spinning too you're set.
I just saw a video here on YT where a lady unravels sweaters she buys from thrift shops. Maybe that's an option?
What a wonderful video :) I instantly subscribed :) Looking forward to more calming/inspiring videos :)
This content is spot-on. A similar book I explored had a groundbreaking effect on my life. "Mindful Mastery: Living Intentionally in a Chaotic World" by Kyle Ash
Will give this a shot. Thanks for the recommendation ❤
Thanks
Just found your channel it has come at the right time as we’re having building work done and a new bathroom money is going through like water after this is all done I just want to sit back and take it slowly with money and life loving your channel
Welcome! I hope you find this video useful :)
I loved The Salt Path, which I read after your recommendation. I’ll look into these as well. ❤❤
I'm glad! Its such a good book 😊💚
Hello from Texas USA.
That video was very inspirational! Thank you
Love this, and can I say what a beautiful dog.... I do love a collie ❤
I've never seen anyone scrape a squash like that! Really enjoyed this. Thanks
I'm so happy to see another Peng Shepard fan! I highly recommend The Book of M, if you haven't read it already. Thanks for the inspiration!
I found your lifestyle very interesting. Enjoyed the peek. Passed it on to my daughter. Thank you.
