Me and Dark Souls don't get along either, but my problem had nothing to do with the difficulty.
The lore and the art style of the game is just so convoluted and bleak, and what characters I met were so... alien and unlikeable... trying to play it I never felt like the game was giving me a reason to care. I get that for some folks the challenge can usurp that and be the point of the experience all on its own, but I kinda need both. It just started to seem like the only reward for getting through depressing bits was more depressing bits.

I couldn't agree with Ash more. I played through fallout 3 because my friends wouldn't shut up about it. The entire time I felt like I was forcing myself through the game and then I got to the end and I had to kill myself in a radioactive room to save the world and end the game even though I had an immune super mutant with me but apparently he can't do it for me for reasons. I know they fixed this but still.
Not liking Assassins Creed 3 is the least controversial cold take ever.

When he said uncharted my heart died a little. But he had no idea what he was talking about😂 "uncharted 3 you play as a young Nathan drake, nobody cares about that" the he goes on to say "I loved uncharted 4 though". YOU PLAY AS A YOUNG NATHAN DRAKE IN THAT ONE TOO.

Young Nathan Drake portions of the game were well done. My problem with Uncharted 3 were faulty cover and platforming mechanics at certain points of the game which made it frustrating, and occasionally stupid enemy and friendly AI, but otherwise it was great fun and creative enough that I think a lot of developers could and should get some ideas from it.
I bought Uncharted 3 at a second hand store for the ps3, played it for like 2 hours.
Uninstalled the game and returned it to the store. Worst 2 hours of my life.

Shea I like AC3. The soundtrack, the naval combat, fighting off an army of redcoats with a bow and arrow or an Assassin’s Tomahawk is all kind of awesome.

@@nakata123 Unity had the worst main characters and story. The two leads were boring, unidimensional, whiny bitches that were of no importance whatsoever and utterly uninspiring, meanwhile the villain was almost non-existent until the end and felt insignificant and the assassin order generally came across as aloof. I've always said even if Unity wasn't ruined by all the glitches and bad framerate, it would still be the worst game in the franchise.
My mum's English and saw the ads for it around Christmas time and I was like well not getting that game for Christmas lol
@@TheLastWanderingBard i agree with a lot of what you say; however, i think unity had one of the coolest backdrop settings (French Revolution) and walking around the streets of Revolutionary Paris was easily one of the best visual settings of the entire series, imho

Fortnite is the first ever popular game that I honestly can't fathom the appeal, I tend to like most games and if I don't I can usually see why others would like MOBAs, Minecraft or CoD, but the popularity of Fortnite just doesn't make sense to me other than it being the most optimal version of a new fad I just can't see the appeal.

Yes! When that was said I was just praising my lucky stars I wasn't the only one. For me, I think it's the world and its horrendous color palette and lack of direction.

Elder Scrolls is a really up and down franchise for me - I started on Oblivion, I still think it’s decent but it’s got many entrenched flaws, Skyrim is a better game but the storylines were disappointing now, Morrowind has an amazing world and combat isn’t as bad as everyone says but holy cow everything else about it is so clunky and laborious. And Daggerfall? I actually completed it but would I ever do so again? Not in a million years
Matt Pullan combat in morrowind and oblivion sucks ass and it kinda put me off. I ended up playing a lot of oblivion and I’m still meaning to try morrowind again but for now Skyrim is my favorite( and one of my fav games ever lol)

Pretty much any of the 'Just Cause' series. You figure 'Open World' and 'Destroy Everything' would be EVERYTHING. However, it just gets BORING to me and the "story" is just abysmal.

I love gta V single player, I hate the multiplayer.
Knowing Rockstar, how tedious it is to grind for enough money to grab that one shiny gun/vehicle/residence/etc. versus how quickly those get old as well as how people have the most fun while screwing each other over is probably meant to be a satire of modern consumer society or something (and to make them obscenely rich through all the shark cards, obviously).
I dislike both but the online I really really fail to see the appeal it seems like such a waste of time to me

I remember for the longest time I had no interest in playing Fallout 3. I decided to try it oneday and, funny enough, it was the audio log that the protagonist's Dad (Liam Neeson!) leaves you is what got me invested in the game. At that moment I was invested in finding out what happened to him. It has since become my favourite Bethesda game.
That's probably the only thing I like about that game. I tried so hard but could not get into it. It was too slow paced for me.

Horizon Zero Dawn for me, everyone was saying that it was amazing and was a masterpiece, but I just couldn't get into it, I had no motivation to play it longer :(

I haven't played the game since I beat it but I don't think enough was really happening at that point to draw you in, but in my opinion the game is so worth the play and it gets a lot better as you go. To each their own though. One of my favorite games doesn't have to be another persons favorite, and thats cool.
@@fayeverdunes agreed. I was iffy on it but then the Proving happened. Then the Revenge of the Nora plot line. OMG. I was sold after that. I ended up logging 180 hrs on my first play through, much of which was me exploring, taking down machines, scrapping with bandits etc. It was fucking great. Frozen Wilds was excellent too. :)

I share the exact same opinion with Scott regarding Diablo. I've tried so many times to get into it because my uncles and brothers used to play it all the time. But I would just go on auto pilot playing it because I didn't want to turn them down

Plot twist: the trick is just timing and patience. It's a very enjoyable game after the initial playthrough if playing blind, even continuing blind it's an enjoyable game based on rewarding playing the game

I played AC3 and in the beginning I was on board with it. I was intrigued and engaged and I couldn't wait to figure out what the deal with Haytham Kenway was. And then the perspective switched to Connor and I was out.

There's a lot of confusion with that on the internet. "I don't like Fallout" and "The Fallout games are bad" are completely different things, yet people love to conflate them.
@Leo Waltz The subjective statement doesn't really require much justification. It's just feelings, which can't be disproven. Objective statements do, or should, require explanation and analysis as well as, obviously, evidence.
@Leo Waltz You cant always justify your feeling. Im a huge RPG fan, back to Baldur's gate times. Played many of them and I can hardly find a title, that got overal positive reckognition that I didnt like. Untill...Kingdome Come: Deliverence. I was very hyped about the game before it was released, because it sounded awsome and it did delivered most of the things it promised, but I simply did not enjoy it. And I cant really say why. It just wasn't the thing for me. I spent about 30 hours with the game and nearly whole time I felt like im forcing myself to play. Ive no doubt its an amazing game, amazing RPG, but just not for me.

Most of these aren't even that controversial, me not liking breath of the wild due to its lack of an emotional story, annoying weapon mechanics , and lack of formal dungens is controversial.

I actaully replyed it and put another 60 hours into it and now it is in my top 5 favorite games
It is not an emotional well thought out detailed story, it's pretty barebones.
Ash ain't wrong. Elder Scrolls is way more enchanting than Fallout. I get that it's kinda supposed to be, but it just feels empty. Fallout isn't necessarily a bad game, but it's atmopshere is a big turn off. It's cold, it's lonely, and for large chunks it's empty. I suppose that's how a real post nuke world would feel, but that doesn't make for a very fun gaming world to me.
See I’m in the opposite camp cause I just never cared for the story or the side quest in Skyrim. It’s a great game to run around, explore and get lost in but I just didn’t have any kind of emotional connection to the game like I did Fallout where I can remember the story, characters and a bunch of side quest I did (well the third game at least). But i get what you’re saying
i have to disagree with you, Fallout needed that emptiness for the sake of atmosphere, it made every human encounter more enjoyable and you really soaked in the exploration and the sight of a world that was destroyed and is just starting to come alive again with small pockets of humanity.

Well it’s a different setting. A post apocalyptic setting is not gonna feel like a fantasy setting and I think she never actually played all of the fallout games. She’s clearly a Bethesda fan and says she likes the elder scrolls but all the good fallout games weren’t made by Bethesda.
@@BananaWamma7 The Elder Scrolls is more than Skyrim. Actually, in terms of representing the lore and enchanting feeling of TES, Skyrim absolutely sucked. Morrowind, Arena and Daggerfall had a much more fascinating world to get lost in. There were factions, interesting characters, secrets of the past, weird creatures, cultures, religions... Very little of that survived in Oblivion, and even less in Skyrim. I mean, at least Oblivion had the Shivering Isles. Skyrim has... Sanguine's side quest? Pretty much.

The "amazing" game that I can't stand is GTA San Andreas. I love Vice City. I hate San Andreas.
And me!! Loved GTA3, vice city was amazing but SA was just not for me. No idea why. Strange.

Maybe it has something to do with Denise's constant need to be taken out for dancing while you're in the middle of struggling to look for those stupid gang territory wars because nobody is ever passing through those really tiny yellow zones when you're actually looking for enemies (let alone struggling to actually win a gang war, since the gun controls [Haha! Gun Control!] are so God-Awful!)? Or how about having to suddenly race all the way to the other side of Los Santos because "OH NO!" while you were driving around the block of one of the most minuscule and least travelled yellow zones, "THE BALLERS ARE ATTACKING YOUR TERRITORY!"? And just as you've finished maxing your health, armor, ammunition, and are prepared to fight: "What's that, Denise? You want to go dancing?"!
And if you want to try to prolong your life during a gang war, "OH NO!", your recruitable gang members (otherwise known as bait to direct Baller bullets away from you for just a few minutes) are as dumb as foot fungus and are either: 1.) more likely to die on the way to a yellow zone (than in the war itself) because they apparently failed kindergarten before they could be taught "Look both ways before crossing the street!"; or 2.) guaranteed to get the Police all over your hapless ass because they shoot any officer they see (regardless of the fact that you're trying to keep a low profile while you look for Ballers with which to start a war), forcing you to have to scramble around town to get away thanks to these idiots! And worst of all: every 5 minutes you have to drop everything you're doing because DENISE WANTS TO GO DANCING, GODDAMNIT!!!

Why didnt you kill denise? She has no real benefit in the game, i always killed her after the first date, beating her to death with flowers was always satisfying.
I hated being a gang banger thug, rather play the godfather and be an intelligent gangster, it didnt matter how well dressed you may be they always insured you were nothing more than an ignorant douche.

That still doesn't fix the awful territory wars, the cow-manure-levels-of-stupid Grove Street Gang members, and the fact that that damn hippie won't drive away even though I'm sure all of his precious weed is burnt - rendering the fucking mission unbeatable!
Never had problems burning the pot, what i hated most about gang wars, other than the two yellow slivers, was my first playthrough as soon as territories were marked i went out and took them all, later in the game gang wars started and territories reset.
Brave and controversial. Also: very, very interesting.

Diablo 3 and Assassins Creed 3 are not amazing games. Had they said they didnt like Diablo 2 or Assassins Creed 2 I would understand because they were in fact amazing

CaptainInsano8943 I didn't like Assassins creed 3 it was really disappointing for me, so much so, I haven't played any other Assassin Creed games since Revlations, I picked up the Ezio Trilogy for PS4 and I love it. That's just my opinion, the first game and Ezios trilogy of Assassin Creed games will always be the best to me

I agree but I did loved cod until mw1 and blackops then they became so extremely repetitive, that just lost interest, there are many games that are 10 times better, and also I hate the online multiplayer of cod, counter strike is miles better :D
Agreed! I play/played a decent amount of FPS games and the only CoD game i liked was WaW. It feels so generic and repetitive and 9-year olds who scream in the mic is not what i consider fun

I'm with Josh in this one. And being American, the whole watch my country and it's iconic cities be birthed theme was so interesting to me that I'm still depressed about finding no joy anywhere in that game other than the trees. And I loved the series coming into it. Still do

I was like “Man you didn’t even get very far!? WTF?” and his whole complaint was basically he just sucks at the game.
I will admit that I didn’t like Souls series at first either (for basically the same reasons LoL) but I kept hearing how awesome it is, so I gave it another chance a few months later... Now the Souls series are my absolute favorite games I love all of them! Including Bloodborne, with Dark Souls 3 being my favorite!

GTA IV. I had just bought an Xbox 360 and was given 5 games. 2 of those games were Dead Rising and GTA IV. Played DR and enjoyed the freedom of say picking up benches and tossing it at zombies or humans. I could go virtually anywhere except behind closed off premises and even then there were ways around it via detouring and knowing the layout of the mall. The creative ways to take out enemies, making drinks for perks, the amount of zombies on the screen, even the wrestling like combat, it was just amazing.
Then I started playing GTA IV and upon trying to go to another boro early on, I was being almost restricted by the game via police wave. I refused to use any cheat codes to circumvent this as I feel I shouldn't have to. The whole vibe of GTA is go anywhere, do anything, but I felt restricted. I remember at one point too looking at a hot dog vendor by a park bench and wanting to pick up said bench to toss at him before I remembered I couldn't do that in this game. I played it for 3 hours, never really loving it. Took the game out the 360 tray and put DR back in. Wound up trading it into GameStop a week later with no regrets.
Also, no problem with the supernatural bits in Uncharted, it's kind of a staple of the genre.
I hope it's still not considered "amazing" much, but i hate League of Legends.
Not only is it because i hate all the MOBA games, but also because nearly everyone is brainwashed from it. You cannot find a single group of people without there being atleast one person playing it. And to me the whole concept and gameplay itself of this game is boring.
League of Legends is for people who are masochists and hate themselves.

The good people usually ban you for picking some arbitrarily "wrong" character, and the new people don't get to play because they're kicked before they even get any experience. Who wants to come home from work to have some 23 year old and younger scream their head off over a MOBA game?

But NOT a 10. If they added a single player story mode that told the back stories for all the characters I would actually consider it. I know there is a comic and a bit of cinematic shorts, but those aren’t as fun as playing them. Cause the world seems interesting

Even thought I love norse mythology in general I could NEVER get into Skyrim. It's so glitchy, and the combat is just SO boring
I loved morrowwind and oblivion, but yeah, I just couldn’t get into Skyrim. I would get so distracted, then bored, got nowhere, and I sunk HOURS into Skyrim. I tried to like it, just found myself getting bored

Diablo 3 definitely is nowhere near as good as Diablo 2. No controversial opinion there. Path of Exile or Grim Dawn are way better

Any sort of big open-world sandbox game, there’s nothing more than I hate than wasting an hour just traveling to the next story mission
For me it was persona 5,played around 20 hours and didn’t see what was so amazing about it.
