GTA was never about being a street gang. So idk why people called it a rip off. San Andreas started out about gangs but was about moving up the criminal ladder like the rest.
Saints row became trash once they tried to create their own identity, thats why they flop, i had no problem with it being a gta clone, but after the first one, it jus became a silly mess that i had ZERO interest in, the newest one is just cringy, I turned it off 10mins in, (played for free with ps plus, I would never pay for a saints row title until they try to get more serious)
Played a LOT of diddy kong racing. Solid game with plenty of depth and replayability. Inclusion of hovercraft and prop planes racing alongside karts is unique and well-balanced. It was indeed challenging. A true gem of a game.
yup but both were made by ID software. so was quake and almost everything else he said. they literally used the doom engine(not quake) so theyre literally clones. he is wrong on that one.
Saints Row is actually what the Punisher game sequel was supposed to be. Volition was in development with it and used what they already made to create Saints Row.
they were also going to use green as the saints colors untill they saw San Andreas was already doing that so they chose purple either to match the ballaz or to set themselves apart more because Volition knew it would be labeled a clone regardless, i cant remember which

There's rip-offs that suck, rip-offs that do just as good a job as the game they copy, and then there's rip-offs that perfect the genre, like Symphony of the Night. There's a reason ppl call em Metroidvanias and not Super Metroid style games. SOTN is too good, go back and read old PlayStation magazines, you'll see that the writers' favorite games almost always included SOTN, if not being their #1 of all time.

Ugh! I had one of the Final Fury sequels on the Mega-CD, but I can't remember which one. 😅 The game over screen had your character trying to blow out the fuse on a bushel of dynamite sticks. And that's it. That's all I can remember about it. Streets of Rage was absolutely the better game. P.s. Metal Slug was alright, but Midnight Resistance was much better in my opinion. Even though no one else seems to remember it. 😅

For me it's the opposite. I dislike GTA, and I also disliked Saints Row 1 and 2 - but I found Saints Row 3 to be one of the best open world shooters I ever played. SR4, unfortunately, was one step forward, two back; still a good game, but can't hold a candle for SR3.
Even now , I'm still unsure of what SR is actually meant to be. The first 2 are like some gangster thingy then it turns into some bizarre alien/superpower/ comedy thing. Then more weirdness in hell, and that god awful re boot they just released. Did I really miss something special back in the day or is the whole thing just over rated?

SR3, though, is not meant to be taken seriously at all. I mean, the first few minutes already make that abundantly clear. Thus why I can enjoy it, and in fact I find it great. SR4, for me, went too far. The story of SR3 is crazy, but anchored; that of SR4 is all over the place. Also, the superpowers mostly ruin the gameplay for me. Ironically, I actually liked Gat Out Of Hell. It went back to a more anchored story, and it doesn't lean too much on superpowers. As for the reboot, I didn't bother trying it. Epic exclusivity will do that for me, I tend to avoid those even after their exclusivity period ends.
If you want a rip-off that did well until its 3rd installment: "Parasite Eve" was a pretty blatant rip-off of "Resident Evil" just with more RPG mechanics in the combat in the first game, but the second installment went heavy on the action instead. We don't talk about the 3rd one.
Parasite Eve is based on a book that was written before Resident Evil came out. The book was published in Japan in 95. Resident Evil was released in 96.

I would like to say another great Rip off of mario kart would be little big planet karting as it allows for much more customisation of both character and kart with a full map creater with easy access from other members of the community

If you like Ratchet and Clank go play Ruff Trigger on the PS2. It's actually pretty good. Enough, that I wish that it got a sequel. That being said, it's a poor rip-off as well.
Demon's Souls was an exclusive, meaning it automatically loses in importance to the kinda-sequel released a couple years later for just about every platform out there.

Ive said it a million times, and ill say it a million more: Saint's Row is the video game Fast and Furious. I say that with nothing but love. I enjoy both series for what they are. Both started out grounded in realism and with humble beginnings. As they continued, they tuened into these insane stories and events, focusing more on the spectical and outrageousness of it all. 😂

Saints Row 1-3 was how GTA trilogy used to be. Fun and wild. GTA became way too serious now. It’s not fun like the OG trilogy.

The 3rd game may have been where the franchise found it’s USP and peaked commercially but Saints Row 1 and 2 were by far the best games in the series!

If you like Ratchet and Clank go play Ruff Trigger on the PS2. It's actually pretty good. Enough, that I wish that it got a sequel. That being said, it's a poor rip-off as well.

Demon's Souls was an exclusive, meaning it automatically loses in importance to the kinda-sequel released a couple years later for just about every platform out there.
Saints Row was in development when Vice City was dropping and it's nothing like Vice City.
What is that supposed to mean? SR was in development when Vice City came out but didn’t even come out until after San Andreas dropped.

I wont say SR was a GTA ripoff. GTASA was an open world game where you did so many diff things & gang stuff became secondary after opening act & final few missions. SR was full on gangs & how many things did GTA4 & 5 copy from original SR? Weapon Wheel, cell phone etc but we cant say that

I say that with nothing but love. I enjoy both series for what they are. Both started out grounded in realism and with humble beginnings. As they continued, they tuened into these insane stories and events, focusing more on the spectical and outrageousness of it all. 😂
