I didnt even get to do fun things children do in my childhood. now I'm 15 and don't know how to ride a bike, climb a tree, swim. and there's alot that I missed out on. Now they're complaining why I'm not like the other kids playing sports, driving motorcycles and other fun stuff. They also like to compare me to other kids which is extremely pointless. But they do like how I already know how to generate profit for my self and put it to good use. Sometimes I don't spend it at all and just give them for charity.

Another reason PT was so good for being so short above other horror games is that. It didnt need to dim the lighting of game down or be abnoxiously loud to scare you. Its genuinely annoying that some games think by making it so i have to squink or can barely see or by throwing a loud noise in my ears that im going to get scared. PT was able to do it through atmosphere and set ups alone.

The icing on the cake would be if they could incorporate the teleportation plasmid in the original trailer that Ken Levine couldn’t ultimately make work because it broke the game (people teleporting past trigger points etc). I really hope Baldur's Gate 3 paves the way for more big-budget + big-production CRPGs given how much people are loving it. While we do get a decent number of smaller-budget CRPG titles from year to year (which are often great too), the big budget ones are fewer for sure. I think if the CRPG fan community was a bit bigger, we'd get a lot more big production games in the subgenre, and BG3 has certainly drawn in a bigger crowd than usual. SteamDB says that the peak concurrent players for BG3 was 800K so far, whereas Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous only ever peaked at 50K, and in my opinion, that game theoretically deserves JUST as much attention as BG3 given its quality. Even Pillars of Eternity and Divinity OS2 have peaks of < 100K, so BG3 might be CRPGs' time to shine!

The most unnerving thing about PT, is that the devs made it so the "ghost" or whatever it is haunting the area is ALWAYS right behind you. Once you pick up the flashlight, the ghost is "tethered" to you from behind like a creepy backpack. When you turn around, she won't be there, because she is still tethered to your back.
This means all those times you heard some small sound behind you, or saw a flicker of a reflection on the walls and turned around and saw NOTHING, attributing it to your mind playing tricks on you, or the suspense of the game, or even scripted jump scares.....it was her the whole time. Still behind you.
Google it. It's creepy as hell.

I'm honestly worried if Remedy can match those mechanics that Rockstar managed to improve on. Additional note, Resident Evil 4 (both the more cheesy classic and the gritty remake) also spoiled me when it comes to action-horror games balancing mechanically deep action and maintaining the stress found in horror games. I'd say the Dead Space games might come close, but there's just something about RE4 to me that works so well.

In many games I always feel like my character has a ball and chain on their ankle or are perpetually stuck in mud. When we're getting games like Lies Of P and Lords of the Fallen where to jump is conditional upon having to be running at the time. Or worst experience I've had is to play a bunch of Elden Ring then go back and play Skyrim. It's so frustrating. Even compared to the Assassin's Creed games which have a ton of freedom of movement outside combat, the combat movements are lack luster by comparison.

I just started ng+5 in Elden Ring. I never have, nor have I ever wanted to do ng+ so many times in any other game which offers it. It's been so fun to experience the game from multiple perspectives. Like with the first play through or two, it was such a difficult time to get through bosses and certain enemies, but I figured it all out. Now I just get to have a blast running around doing whatever I want with the power my character has accumulated. I couldn't believe it, a few days ago it only took like 3 or 4 attempts to get through the Radagon / Elden Beast fight. 10 minutes or so and done. I spent hours on the first times, hah. I don't know how many ng+s I'll do, but I know I'm still not done yet! Nearing 700 hours, it's definitely the most time I've spent in a single game of it's kind.

R.I.P Worlds Adrift. One of the most unique survival games that never got to see its full potential. Hoping Bossa Studios brings this gem back online one day.

Another game that surprisingly never got a patch is the Shadow of the Colossus remake on PS4. It’s also very stable and bug free. Props to Blue Point on that one.

Nevermind SotC itself spoiling us on what a real boss fight can be. I maintain they inspired Dragon's Dogma to take the same approach to their larger creatures.

Kingdom Come Deliverance deserves to be on this list.. it is absolutely phenomenal in immersion and innovative branching quest design.. I have played it for over 400 hrs and still overwhelmed by the amount of detail it has.. there is no other developers out there who can replicate what warhorse studios, an AA studio with limited funds, have achieved here.. KCD is as good as rdr2, elden ring, skyrim and Witcher 3 to me... even better sometimes..

I think he underplayed Stardew Valley a bit there. In a single FREE patch years after release, the devs completely reprogrammed the entire game, every single line of code to make the game 100% multiplayer compatible even though it was never originally planned to be multiplayer, and then added 4x more post game content to the game as well as added split screen co-op and directly further bolstered mod support. Even now Dec 2023, almost 8 years after release they are planning on adding 8 player multiplayer, and a bunch of extra festivals, events, minigames, outfits for all characters, new farms and other shit. Oh and they also completely translated the game into 11 other languages. That's next level shit

In regards to Tears of the Kingdom, let us not forget that it also spoils us by taking only 20gb of storage, compared to the 100+ gigabytes of most AAA games.

    • @MrSpartan993
      @MrSpartan993 Před 9 měsíci +2

Yeah wtf is up with that?
We can make humans in cgi that can confuse people’s parents into thinking it’s live action at points and yet we can’t shrink the game size to have more than a handful of new games on an expanded terabyte level of memory.

    • @joshc5309

@@user-bt8ew2hz8nthere’s many games that use cel shaded graphics and still over 60 gbs. Games are getting really huge and to see a game of that size be under 20 gb is insane

Tears of the Kingdom has cartoon graphics that's why it doesn't take up much space. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out

That experience is so common with a "nerdy thing" everyone teases you for only for it to go mainstream and everyone is head over heels for. Divinity Original Sin 2 was such a great discovery for me and shouted it off the rooftops to anyone who would listen. It never picked up the traction it deserved. Then Baldur's Gate 3 comes swinging and people are like, "This is great!" I'm like "duh!" I've been saying it for years.
