Have one. Love it. Only negative is it does not have Amazon Music. Highly recommend. My best Dan. Albuquerque
Thank you Dan! We appreciate you sharing your experience with the RS150. We suspect Amazon has a fee that is above what most smaller companies are willing to pay.
Excellent review Craig
Glad you liked it!
Very impressive!
Thank you!
This is the streamer I was looking for, two years ago. But in 2022 it has a huge glaring deficiency for me to make the leap and purchase (I don't use Roon). With Amazon and Apple Music (and others) now offering high res and Atmos based spatial audio, not having those native apps is huge. And it really needs multi-channel SSP capability with analog outputs also to take advantage of the emerging immersive audio reproduction. It still looks like an amazing piece of kit, and perhaps is the one of the best 2 channel streamers out there for the money, they just need to add this to take to the current SOTA. I'd be all over it if it were.
We think Apple Music is coming soon based on this article time.news/apple-music-officially-runs-on-third-party-devices/ It has an HDMI out which in theory could support multi channel audio but we have not tested that yet, but will. Thanks for watching
@@AudioAdvice That’s great news on Apple Music. Maybe Amazon will play nicely too one day. I think this is a fantastic product and at the right price point given the sound quality of the DAC, components, features and the great user interfaces. I really, really hope they do come out with a version that incorporates an SSP to add the M/C audio capability too. With the killer quality and GUI, it would be a no brainer and, AFAIK, unique in the marketplace 😉.
I’m trying to find and buy a new integrated amp, streamer, dac, but Amazon HD is a must and deal killer. Started our looking at NAD M33, Rotel 6600, and Naim. Have since cast a wider net, but Amazon is a must.
@@henriksenlaw Good luck. No one has a “direct” connection with Amazon from your phone as controller. BluOS is best I’ve found and weak bc Amazon wont open their API to third parties.
@@gjhunter9326Hello Mate, I’m slowly getting into HiFi. What is AFAIK? What is SSP and M/C? I’m thinking of buying RS150 to use with my NAS that has 100Tb of storage running Plex Server. Could the RS150 connect to a NAS and stream HIRES music from my NAS? I heard the RS150 doesn’t have true DLNA??
Hi! I have a question about this unit (RS150), Can i stick a usb into it and play movies / surround sound test tracks in dolby / dts audio formats? Including atmos and dts x? Also, can it support Bluetooth audio?
Good questions, the first is no, the second is yes for BT. Thanks for watching
@@AudioAdvice thank you!!!
I am new to the Rose and so far a few issues such as Tidal incompatibility using the Rose app or Tidal app, what a mess. Spotify can be used directly from the app itself seamless. On the Rose icon panel there isn't even a Spotify app offered?? Also how can I get into the DAC options to change sampling if I want? Again cannot find out how to access it either through the app or on the Rose panel. Thank you.
Sorry you are having issues, if you purchased your unit from Audio Advice, please reach out to our technical support team at www.audioadvice.com
newbie question...
Does this make any sense for me to add to my Sonos home network?
I only stream spotify, siriusxm and other online music services? not sure it improves my system?
You would get more benefit by adding a Sonos sub or the new Sub Mini. Please reach out to our team to discuss which would work best for you, you can chat at www.audioadvice.com. Thank you for watching
Thanks for sharing. Don’t know if I would necessarily call this a “review.” There doesn’t seem to be any cons mentioned, so it comes across more like a marketing ad. I played with one a little and noticed some glitches and it also doesn’t support Tidal Connect. I guess the good news is at least these things are software based and can be fixed/updated via firmware.
They are going to be adding more through software, Apple Music is coming. We have not seen any glitches though. Its a really great product. Thanks for watching
I don't think this works natively with Amazon Music HD to play their HiRes tracks ?
Not at this point.
Nice but VERY EXPENSIVE!!!
Yes, it is but it is one of the best we have seen. Thanks for watching
Why are nobody talk about amp-selections to this rs150???????????
That is a good suggestion. Of course it all depends on your speakers and room size. If you reach out to our team at www.audioadvice.com we would be happy to help. Thanks for watching
Impressive piece of kit. I tried one, seeing one for the first time and could play whatever I wanted within a minute. However, at this price you expect stereo gear to last at least a decade. This hasn't got a decade because it runs a customized, already old Android version. That means it will soon be an unsafe device and a vulnerability in a home network.
We did some digging on this and found out this information. The base operating system is Linux. Android is only used for the touch screen interface.
Also, they have been very responsive about updates, the system has been improved in a number of ways since first introduced:
Much improved internet radio in terms of number of stations, saving favorites, etc. (Rose Radio)
Improved playlists which can now be created across sources, i.e. songs from tidal, Qobuz etc can exist on the same list
More sources i.e. added Apple Music
@@AudioAdvice Thanks for looking in to this. Android is based on Linux, so you're right. Underlying problem is that the RoseOS operating system is Android 7.1, modified. As soon as the modification went in production, HiFi Rose has to develop security updates themselves. That can't last forever because the technical challenge to keep an OS safe increases over time. That's why Microsoft, Apple, Google and Android device manufacturers support their OS versions for a limited time, then expect their users to migrate to the next version. And these are the big guys natively familiar with their products. HiFi Rose is smaller and it's not an IT company by nature, making the challenge for them more difficult. This adds to the effect of components with different lifespans glued together in one product. The hardware will outlive the software, which is a waste with these streamers that have such good hardware especially the DAC implementation. A long-term plan for users could be to eventually use the streamer offline only, but for HiFi gear at this price level I don't like such degradation in functionality. But it's a good thing that HiFi Rose adds these unique products to the market. Many will enjoy them a lot!

@@AudioAdvice non thank you for making good content
Yada yada yada, it’s the perfect streamer ….,,give me a break.
A sales pitch disguised as a review
Thanks for the feedback.
Nice eye candy. Not worth.the price. Probably the worst streaming value out there
where did you hear it?
@@user-ex9zm7bg3x no need to hear it being in this game for about 25 years. All it's doing is sending out ones and zeros. $5,000 for a streamer is absolutely robbery. Sure it looks beautiful. You are paying for the looks and the way over built aspect of it. I have a $30 Chromecast audio that transfer CD quality to my DAC and it's blissful. I laugh at this Uber expensive stuff
@@user-ex9zm7bg3x Plus when you take a streamer, dac, and pre-amplifier and try to jam it into one box you got a lot of digital content going on. Much better off getting separates and isolating things
@@ryanschipp8513 You are blessed. Read about a guy who could tell you whether a painting was good without seeing it.
@@user-ex9zm7bg3x I stream with a $30 Google Chromecast audio. I use the Deezer app and it output CD quality. Sounds sublime. Proof that a $5,000 streamer is like purchasing a $400,000 car. Tons of Overkill. But now we are talking about transferring ones and zeros.
