Hi Charis, I use an inexpensive Panasonic HC V210 camcorder. It autofocuses silently and I've found the sound quality to be quite good from the built in mic. It looks like you're looking for something a bit more towards the premium end of the scale with the vg20 though! One thing I'd look out for is a wide angle lens, which is why I went for the Panasonic. The Sony you're looking at starts at 18mm which I think would be really useful feature for you if you want to capture a lot in the frame. Hope this helps and good luck with your purchase!

Nice work on the trophy! Looks awesome.
For my videos I tend to use my GoPro hero (the £100 version) which I find really good as on a small tripod it's easy to move around and with such a wide lens pretty much guaranteed to get everything in shot. No messing about with focusing but I guess the sound isn't great which could be an issue.I wouldn't mind one of the more expensive versions so I could see on the screen (or my phone) what the shot was going to look like but it's not been an issue in my small workshop so far.
It's also really tough, and seems to be able to handle the sawdust pretty well!
