- Watch the Salvage Sister create her massive forged steel apple with blacksmith skills in the forge from a sheet of steel!
My first ever forged project!
In this video I hammer a sheet of hot steel into submission to create an apple. I use the plasma cutter, power hammer and grinder & show you step by step the techniques I used. The video is filmed on my GoPro Hero 3+ which I carry with me during the fabrication. You will see the things I did wrong, and the things that went right, learn with me!
There’s a short intro filmed in my workshop to put the video into context, I hope you like it!! If you do let me know by liking & subscribing, any thoughts you have please leave in the comment section or find me on social media with the links below.

Awesome video thank you. Beautiful work
I admire your courage in taking on such a project. Your piece is well-formed.
I particularly enjoyed watching you develop and grow through the process.
Your commentaries are also humorous and speak to your growth.
Just think, in prehistory, your hammers were stones, anvils were stones,
no welders, grinders, files, or tongs.
As to your message: "End World Hunger", I applaud your awareness of
the issue. Sadly, the cause is not a "Nature" issue, but a "greed and profit"
one.
Over the 20th and into this century, corporations use quotas to regulate
prices. Produce that exceeds their targets are disposed of to keep the
illusion of scarcity and lack.
I remember back in 1973 when I think it was DelMonte, completely
destroyed their banana plantations in South Africa to increase
the price from 10 cents a pound to one dollar a pound. They still had
their operations in Central and South America, where labor at that time
was cheaper.
That behavior by corporations is robustly practiced to this day.
Sorry for the sermon...but it is really good to see young people like
yourself being aware and drawing attention to the global rot based
on greed and lies.
Excellent work, thanks for sharing.

5th video scrolling down after searching "Blacksmith making steel chest", and it's you and your bloody apple. That thing sat in the FdA room for so long... It's quite nostalgic seeing it again, hope you're doin' well!
That is frickin awesome! I would love to have that in my living room. It’s beautiful.

Blacksmithing - Joey van der Steeg thank you 😉
Absolutely awesome.
Is there a medium you can't work with?
That is Bob on Lass.
nice art work, need more women doing youtube blacksmith projects. Video and music great.
Robert McAlpin thank you, glad you like it 😊
That looks like so much fun. I have never done any metal work but would love to try. How long did the whole thing take about to make? It stinks that the first one got a hole in it. I think it turned out great!
Mixed Up Mrs Mixed Up Mrs you live and learn! Lol. I tried a thicker steel in the end and was more careful. It’s amazing how much quicker you can get at things the more you do them, this one was done over a couple of months as I had to fit around college schedules, so hard to say exactly how long, but it involved a great deal of work! I’m working on some bowls at the moment in an apple shape so I’ll see how much I’ve sped up 😊. Thanks for watching 👀
Really enjoyed that! Well done on the design. Where are you from, sound like a proper landoner...
workingwithiron everyone says that! I’m from Brighton, so not far from London about 1.5 hour drive. But even Brightonions say I sound London-ish! 😂 Thanks for watching, glad you like it
