- This video is about MAKING & CASTING COPPER BEADS FROM SCRATCH, I tried few different methods and learnt a lot on my journey. This video is part of a series that was made as part of my foundation degree coursework - it is in depth for this reason. The brief was to create a subversive piece of jewellery. Well done!! Really nice that you documented the process. My hands are way to shaky to get this done.
Awesome video thank you
For round beads, I would've definitely just balled rods or 12/10 gauge wire letting them drop down into some cold water once they got too heavy. I've been looking to cast spiked beads since I can't find any pure copper spike beads.
Persistence! Well done.
I pondered how I might make them.
Without enough heat in my workshop to melt copper I would have ended up making a die and anvil for my 8 ton hydraulic cable crimping tool and pressing pellets cut from copper rod into balls.
It's all about finding a way with what we have. 👍
Indeed! I love hearing other makers suggestions. My way was quite long winded, especially when it came to cutting them off cleaning them up! But I'm really pleased with how they turned out, so all good!
That's why I like following other makers, always alternative ideas and methods for achieving a thing.
Nice. :) You can also use copper rods and heat them with a torch from underneath. They will ball upwards. Then drill holes in them. Just make sure the torch (With the hand holding it, lol) is not directly underneath, in case the bead falls off.
Artisankat Studios that's a fab idea! Must try that. Thanks for the useful info 😊
Damm that's a big blow torch!
I know, isn't it wonderful! :D
