This is my dream, having my own 3D printer and cast my own designs from my home! This is so badass. I’ve been teaching myself for about three years and doing it all by hand, and thankfully found a jeweler who casts them for me ( and gives me greatly needed tips and criticisms) it’s an expensive hobby but gosh I wish I was better. Really wish there was a class I could take in technique

what a workshop....stunning....so many machines and all so fancy and it goes to show this has come a long way since I was a student doing my fine arts degree where I chose silversmithing as my major. I loved it but wow...my fingers were so sensitive with all the filing we did, it was worth it and my favourite was casting. I know it was complicated with the kiln and hot wax and getting the measurements according to what you were doing. This has brought it all back but with a new eyes now that I see there is great advancement with such machinery and tools ...I loved it and thank you for such an insightful tutorial

I have been watching videos about this for days. Your vid does an excellent job of tying things all together so that it makes sense from start to finish. I am interested in making small brass or bronze parts for some models that currently make use of resin printed parts that are not quite durable enough. I think that this is the direction that I need to go. Not cheap to start from scratch (I already have the printer and associated support equipment) but it seems like the only way to reliably get accurate small metallic castings. Thanks for the nice vid, it was quite helpful! As are the links.

I'm currently debating printing and metal casting prop dagger or if it would be better to just print it in resin and paint it/faux gold leaf it. Pros and cons to both I feel

Hi Gomeow, thanks a ton for making this video. I’m learning how to cast right now and it’s made me realize I can do it. One quick question for the investment process, do you have to mix for the full 4 minutes or get it fully mixed in under 4 minutes?
Same with the vacuum, do you hold the vacuum for 1 minute and then 2 minutes and then release the vacuum after the full minute or two?
    Thanks.

you can also use warm water + salt to get rid of the remaining plaster. fell on this video by accident, and the whole process is alot alike what we do in dental prosthetics.

Hi, love you video, watched it multiple times ❤ what silver is tarnish resistant for casting? Is it possible to use the vegetable glycerin multiple times? It seems a bit wasteful to chuck it each time. Can you put the glycerin in the vacuum chamber to remove some of the bubbles?

GoMeowCreations -- Randy: I'm gob-smacked at the amount of steps and the long list of items needed!! Wow. I want to make a professional looking chess set that I have never seen anywhere before. I think I need to start with the PLA you mentioned. Also, I know DIDDLY about all this! I would probably need a class to start. By any chance are you in Western Canada?! If not, I think I'll have to look up courses and THEN come back and follow your advice. Thanks SO much for the long list of great uploads and the detailed lists. I take LOTS of screenshots on your recommended settings and items.

id recomend you find a maker lab in your area... these are three skill sets: making the wax, casting, finishing the pieces.... i'd recomend you offload the casting process to someone else, it's probably the most expensive skill in terms of equipment needed,
