Thank you very much that’s so kind ☺️
What an excellent video - thank you so much! I would love some guidance on setting the stone once the cast piece is back.
aww you're so welcome, I plan to do a video on how to clean up and polish the ring you get back from casting. In the future, I'll look to stone setting! X
Waiting a stone setting video as well !!! 👉🏼👈🏼❤️❤️
Thankyou for this as I'm just starting out. Already silversmithing so thought I'd like to try wax.
You’re welcome! Good luck and enjoy the process
thankyou for this

^ This is the mask I use when I am in the workshop, anything from polishing to sanding to wax build up.
Could you do a pt 2 video on what to do next? 🙏🏻💜
Yesss 100% I will show you how to clean up the ring / make it all shiny ☺️ setting stones will come later tho xx
Thank you! ☺@@anyotherkingdom
hey i love your work and your videos and everything around it! i was wondering if you send the wax ring off just like that or do you have to attach that little thing for the casting tree that you need to take off again after it has been cast? (sorry i have no idea what the correct words are for this, hope you can follow) would that be the same process for bigger pieces say like a pendant that is as big as your palm for example? hope it's not rude asking so much in one comment
My caster will add on the spru for you for a small extra fee ☺️ you can do either!
how do you remove the stone from the wax? amazing video btw
By gently teasing it out with the scalpel. The blue wax is slightly supple and can gently be manipulated to help get the stone out too ☺️
@@anyotherkingdom ah okay, thanks!
Do you have any recommendations of where to get the wax cast?
Google “metal casting” or “metal foundry” in your local area/state/country :)
So helpful, thank you! When I am melting the wax (soldering iron heats up to around 200 degrees Celsius and is not adjustable) a lot of smoke occurs and it smells really toxic, is that still normal? Do you think a face mask for protection is enough?
Thanks for the comment, I would recommend using a face mask yes! You could try turning the temperature down a bit tho to minimise the smoke. I’ll do some research and get back to you
@@anyotherkingdom thank you so so much!
mine too, bummed!
@@wormholefairy wear a face mask ☺️ I will add one to my pinned post that I recommend
@@anyotherkingdom shit is sTannnKy. I'll get one that you can temp control!
can we later turn this wax into silver? amazing tutorial by the way💕💕💕💕
Yess!! So you send the wax off to a foundry / metal casting company and they will cast it for you. Alternatively you can cast it yourself the process is called lost wax casting and requires a lot of equipment that I dream to one day own ❣️ so glad you loved the video
@@anyotherkingdom thank you so much!!!! :33
also i wonder if you are using the regular soldering iron?
@@aisu5969 yess a cheap one from ebay! But you want one that is temperature controlled
@@anyotherkingdom I can’t thank you enough!! please keep continue to posting these wonderful videos!! I will be waiting for them 🤩 wish you a good day 💖💖💖💖💖
How do you get the ring off of the mandrel? Mine sticks to it and is always hard to get off
I tease it very gently - try masking tape on your mandrel that should help ☺️
hello, do u pull out gemstone prior molding ? how?
very carefully with a scapal - i'm sure i go over it at the end of the video :)
@@anyotherkingdom thanks 💞💞💞
do we need to use mask for protection? is it dangerious for animals to inhale?
Hellooo I have no seen any data into how harmful it is for either human or pets. I make sure I work in a well ventilated area and wear a mask as a precaution. But people have been using these techniques for years in the industry x
This build-up method seems way harder and more time-consuming than carving. What made you decide to do it this way?
I love to experiment and I ended up loving the effect!! I personally find carving very time consuming and I don’t like the thought of all those bits of wax flying around from filing and ending up in my lungs 😷
@@anyotherkingdom It's certainly an interesting technique with a unique look. My grandparents are from Fordyce and Huntly in Aberdeenshire. You don't come across many Scots on this platform.
Is this just a simple soldering tool?
It is indeed! One with a good temperature control 😊
Thank you!
