- "Won't my child be bored in kindergarten if they learn to read too early?" - I get questions like this in my comment section all the time, and it's one of the reasons a lot of folks don't want to teach their little one to read at home. But in my experience as a former kindergarten teacher, being able to read going into kindergarten gives children access to so many more books that interest them and will keep them engaged (not bored!)

Nah. I regret ever having sent my daughter to crèche. She unfortunately picked up bad habits and she was exposed to bullying.
Keep your children at home if you can, mamas. Crèche or preschool isn’t necessary.
My daughter turns 7 next week and I often have to pry 300-page books out of her hands so that she'll go to sleep 😅
On point with this!! Teach your kids or kiddos to read because they will get left behind most the time!!
Thank you for this! Although I have never had my kids know how to read before kindergarten I am looking forward to my 2 youngest reading by kindergarten. I was wondering, how/when would you introduce a new language to a child? Does having the parents speaking 1 different language each to the baby/child (exemple: french for one, english for the other one) is a good way to introduce them to a new language from early on or would it be too overwhelming for the child? What’s your thoughts on that ? :) i think it would be an amazing topic for a video! Thank you for your video, love them 🌻🙏🏾
Bilingual kids have long term advantages, but might seem a little slower at first. Helping them with the code switching by having each adult consistently use one language with the kid, and encourage the kid to answer in that language so you can naturally improve their pronunciation is a pretty good approach, but the important part is having conversations. Young kids are built to acquire languages. Check out some of the studies on bilingualism from Canada.

I’d suggest that you speak the uncommon languages at home. Separating languages at home between kids may cause potential confusion for them. They will learn English in public if given the opportunity. Their teacher may be initially annoyed, but it’s in the best interest of the child. The main objective is to talk to them as if they already understand the language and narrate what they are doing so that they acquire vocabulary in context. For example: “I see that you brought a banana for lunch. I like to eat bananas. Do you like to eat bananas, too? I like that they are yellow. Yellow is my favorite color. What is your favorite color?” They will be confused at first, but gradually begin to point to things and nod their heads in an attempt to respond.
I teach children who don’t speak English. They are 3 and 4. I don’t speak any foreign languages. At first it is overwhelming for the student, but they eventually settle in. About one month in, when they know the class routine, I set a rule that they can no longer nod or gesture to things they need- they are given a script: “(word), please”. The next month, I do not guess what they need or jump in to help. The expectation is that they need to ask me first, and I will help if asked. I will then guide them through the entire sentence word by word until they no longer need it. After they’ve built the initiative skills and confidence to approach me in English, they will take that confidence and initiative to the other children. Then there is a language explosion. After that, they are bilingual and able to learn at the same pace as the native-speaking children.
That’s just my advice, though. You know your own heart and children best! I wish you luck and success ❤

My son gets upset when teachers or myself repeat things to him that he already knows when he doesn't answer. He tells us that he already knows it. And it's true-we know because if we leave him sometimes he blows through it in 30 seconds. So frustrating.

My son knows how to rwad how to do math, can focus, does not disturbe the class and comes home every day mad bc.he was bored. Refuses to go the next day. He is first grade.
How would a child who doesn't know how to read be behind in kindergarten? Wouldn't they be on par with their peers?
When i was in the kindergarten, i was the only one who could read, so the teacher putted the same movie every single day for me, while the other kids could play and interact with the teacher. In this kindergarten, (idk if they still doing this), but girls had to clean the floor every day, when boys could play in the playground....
That's horrible.
