I be catching myself in saying some real cruel things regarding police officers who do stuff like this... 😡 they can be flat out wrong yet their superiors and colleagues will back them up saying, “they did nothing wrong.” why? Why is it that EVERYBODY else is wrong but them? Even when they use bad judgement and somebody end up dead. WHY???
@@yusefkabib2073 It's because they operate like gangsters, like organized criminals. Which they pretty much are, only difference is that they have power and authority granted to them by the bigger powers and authorities in government. They can almost always get away with their crimes because of this. There's always going to be people who say there's only a few bad cops which might be true but it's irrelevant anyway. The good ones let the bad ones keep up the game and even take passive roles. They really don't have any choice if they want to keep their jobs.
It's not against the law to be pissed off, or "have an attitude"
This right here is a PERFECT example of why completely law abiding citizens can still fear the police.

They decide to write him tickets inside the station after he tried to file a complaint? That is asinine and corrupt as hell.
I hope the lawsuit covers those fraudulent fines.
It definitely seems, and most likely is, retaliatory. Good luck proving it, though, since that's a civil matter and not subject to a jury. If someone thinks the fucking judges are looking out for them either, they're mistaken, though it's less of a chance that they'll be irredeemable cunts than pigs will.
@@jeffreygoss8109him being acquitted did away with the fines as he didn’t commit those crimes. The lawsuit covered the officer’s actions in the stop and retaliation in response to him exercising his 1st Amendment right to redress he grievances with the police department. The 2nd lawsuit punished the city because the deletion of comments once again violated 2 elements of the 1st amendment in his freedom of speech and redress grievances to the government. Unfortunately because in most cases cops are not personally punished, they probably didn’t change their ways
That should be illegal. The fact he was written tickets for trying to file a complaint is insane.
@@jilla-dr9hu it’s illegal. That’s why these lawsuits and policy change needs to continue

Unfortunately, the detainee in this video began to apologize. Do not ever apologize to police officers; this implies guilt. I can totally understand why he apologized. He probably wanted to de-escalate the situation as much as possible because this cop was CLEARLY abusing his power from the jump. Secondly, do not let the cop make conversation with you. Once this cop tried to finally de-escalate the situation, realizing he most likely overstepped, the detainee shouldn’t have engaged in the conversation at all. None of this “Oh I understand, sir,” bullshit. Do NOT give the cops an out to cover their asses. There is a way to do this properly while remaining calm, but be assertive in your rights. The detainee should’ve kept quiet until the officer started talking. Once the officer started talking, I’d advise him to engage as little as humanly possible with the cop’s conversation. The main thing he needs to do is find out WHY he was pulled over. Once he figured that out, so long as he was not committing a crime, he should’ve began immediately asserting his rights. I hope this helps whoever sees this. You do have rights, and even if a cop does violate those rights, you can always take it to court.

This cop is literally everything wrong with modern policing
"Modern policing"? I guess the old days before body cams were much better? Police have been abusing their power since forever, Modern or Ancient. I'd argue it'd gotten a bit better recently with all the bad publicity they've been getting.
@@MelvinJ64 you may have missed the point. I wasn't suggesting a comparison between current and former policing and the quantity or quality of abuses that occur in a given time period.
My point was that even in an age with cameras everywhere and FOIA requests making public information readily available not just to individuals but the public at large, police still; by and large, haven't figured out they need to adjust their behavior and attitudes to account for the reality that what one officer does affects policing as a whole. It affects our perception of their role in society, their tendency towards control and domination of citizens rather than service toward them, and ultimately our perception of whether or not police with weapons and legal immunity from civil (and usually criminal) prosecution can be trusted.
This video is a perfect example of what the public perceives as modern policing and despises what they see as abusive and dnagerous.
And to your point about things being better these days, maybe? But neither you or I have any real statistical evidence to measure that "better." But anecdotally, I disagree with it almost entirely.
The reason is with the intense scrutiny and video evidence of bad police interactions the public has access to there is absolutely no doubt that even when a "bad" officer goes rogue the supposed good officers 99% of the time fail to intervene in any meaningful way. And certainly not in the way the public would expect them to intervene considering their role in society and servant protectors.. Which speaks volumes about policing as a whole and leads those of us who watch closely to suspect that a significantly higher number of incidents of abuses of civil liberties and of officer abuse of power is occurring but goes unreported.
Why? I'm sure there is a host of reasons and some more valid than others. But at the base of it all, those "good" cops who would never do what we see the "bad" cops do, but they do and say nothing at all about it at the time and rarely after the incident. They are cowardly scum without a backbone to uphold their own moral code, and to demand it of those they serve with. That's bottom level analysis of the "good" cops. They are cowards for not doing something about it. And NO coward is good in those circumstances. Ever! Not when their cowardice empowers those who abuse those they are sworn to serve and die for if need be. Believe what you want though. Thanks for commenting

Interesting. I was just thinking... if the cop is THIS afraid to patrol solo, he probably shouldn't be a cop in a department that requires him to patrol solo. "Don't be confused."
Holy shit, why didn't he think of that.

I was angry about everything Mercado did, but he just told me “don’t be angry.”

He was confused, that's why he didn't think of that.
Lol that’s how addicts are treated
Mr. Finley bent over backwards to accommodate that officer and was about as aggressive as a newborn pup. Then the cop's boss dumps all over him too! What a shit show that was!
Don’t ever settle until ALL officers are FIRED and you are due one million dollars for every minute detained. The government needs to be held accountable for the crimes committed by these officers.
I can totally relate to this. I was behind a dump truck in traffic in downtown Miami. I couldn't go anywhere, didn't do anything wrong and a very experienced driver. All of a sudden I had a police officer screaming at me and accusing me of doing something wrong. Again I was stuck behind a dump truck. The police officer got extremely verbally abusive and threatening. He was seriously scary. I don't normally get freaked out, but I called my husband immediately and he could hear the violent treating of the police officersupport the police and respect the serious and danger of their job. However, there is a problem with the hiring of cops in this country. Too many of them seem to have a power complex and have no business being police officers. It is quite apparent that there needs to be a better evaluation process for hiring police officers.
Problem not enough qualified applicants, so this is what u get.
But what happened, what's the end of your story?
Isolated him, cornered him, shook him around a little, got his rocks off, and then played the victim like a true hero. then let him go so that maybe he doesnt file a complaint and get himself fired. What a stand up guy

This is just another day as an officer.
My dogs are hungry and need some meat.

I hope Finley does not suffer from the fact he won his court case and the settlement. If a chief and his minions are willing to fabricate charges to cover up for the misconduct of an officer, I see them making retalliatory traffic stops when Finley is driving his personal car.
Maybe they will "find" narcotics in his truck next time... It's hard to know where corruption stops, once a person has compromised their integrity like the Chief here. Lying, intimidation, false charges, does it stop before murder? Just a few murders of people who mostly deserve it? Who can ever trust such a man?
Whisper.. permanent RESTRAINING ORDERS against the cop and chief. And a warning to the remaining officers.
If that Happens then he will receive Millions hope he gets that money he deserves it.
I'm sure Mr. Finley would love it if they tried that, the next lawsuit would be for millions.
This type of situation definitely warrants a couple cameras in the car
Let's remember that each arrest is going to generate some funding for the arresting agency. An arrest that lasts 5 minutes or 5 years. Also there is a maintenance fee per inmate day. It's big business. And crooks control it!! Hugh
