    Thanks Charles for this very helpful video on the 2010 Chrysler/Dodge vans! The front valve cover went very well as it's more accessible. However, the back cover is a bit challenging. I took off the EGR tube which allowed me to use my mirror and headlamp to actually see the back top 2 center bolts which are the worst to deal with. Your advice on the 1/4 drive swivels and a full set of various 1/4" drive extensions was completely necessary for the front and back covers. Another tip I found was the 5/16" socket works as well as the 8MM socket. You need both deep and shallow sockets whichever you use. Also, I found my 12 point 5/16" socket worked better that my 6 point sockets. The 12 point is more "forgiving" on the top two upper bolts which prove to be the worst....anyhow, thanks again Charles!

    Thanks. Saved me a ton of work. The front and rear came out just the way you showed.
    I did pull it off with a 1/4" U-joint on a shalow socket but a wobble would have made it a lot easier for those upper inside bolts.
    Great video.

    Very useful video; I have a 2009 Town & Country. Did the front VCG today and will do the back tomorrow. It was going to be around $400 at my go-to auto shop and I would have paid it had I not seen this.

    I very much appreciate the content I had a conversation with my husband today on what to do about the oil leak thinking it would be something so extensive we were better trading the vehicle in and after some investigation I am pretty sure it is the gasket and having you and other creators go through it and show how to really helps give me the confidence that we should be able to do it rather stress free.

    I cannot believe you didn’t have to remove the intake for the back one. Good video man.

    I was able to get this done today. The back middle two are a pain in the *** but with the swivel wrench and patience I did it.

    I always wondered why in heck was everyone else removing the intake plenum off to do the rear valve cover gasket. I kind of suspected that you did not have to remove it. Watching your video confirmed that I don't have to do all that extra work. I'm sure there is some patience involved by doing it the way you did, but I have no problem with that. Great video and thank you for posting it. I know now that the job is not as bad as it seems.

    This guy is a magician! My blind decrepit short butt has to take the intake manifold to get to the back one. Plz mr sir do some miracle work on mine! Jk. I really do wish i could do it that easy, if i were younger and a lil taller i probably could. Great job though 👍

    Single mom with a 2010 3.8L V6 T&C with only 45,000 miles on the clock. Several issues and this is apparently one of them.
    I don’t have much money and try to repair anything I possibly can on my own.
    This is a very helpful video. I’m wondering if someone might be able to list the tools i need for this repair. I tried to write them down but am not sure what he means by “wobble extensions”. I do have an extension for my socket thing but I don’t know what a wobble is and I hate to start a project without all the proper tools on hand.
    Thanks a million. Subscribing.

      @CharlesAndCars  Před rokem +1

      Wobble extensions have more of a ball end where the socket goes onto the extension. They allow the socket to have some degree of angle compared to only straight with the extension. Here's an example. www.amazon.com/Alltrade-Dr-Wobble-Extension-Set/dp/B004QO9BTM/ref=sr_1_5?crid=207PSSEWFN4GY&keywords=wobble+extension&qid=1667178512&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI1LjA0IiwicXNhIjoiNC41NiIsInFzcCI6IjQuMzEifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=wobble+extension%2Caps%2C134&sr=8-5

      @@CharlesAndCars Thank you so much. I really appreciate your reply. I looked it over yesterday and I don’t see oil coming out the sides of that front valve cover but I think I should do it anyway. The question I have left is that I can only find one. I looked and looked and can’t find a second one in the back. I have a 2010 3.8L V6, but I can’t find a second location for a valve cover gasket. 🤷🏻‍♀️

      @@juliava605 Only reason to do the valve cover gaskets is if they're leaking oil. If not .... leave them as they are. The other valve cover is behind the intake near the firewall.

    • @juliava605
      @juliava605 Před rokem

      @@CharlesAndCars Thank you so very much for taking the time to respond. The reason I am concerned about the valve cover gaskets is that I'm losing oil like crazy. Not sure where it's going. It's not dropping a puddle in my driveway so I'm thinking it's slowly leaking from those valve covers. I can only see the one in the front though. I'll try super hard today to find the one in the back. Yesterday when I replaced the plastic Y piece that blew coolant all over the engine bay, I searched high and low for that second valve cover and decided I don't have one. 😅 I will check again! THANK YOU!

      @@juliava605 I have the same exact problem as you wear I'm leaking oil in the back valve cover towards the firewall. But these vehicles are notorious to leak by the oil filter housing oh, so you may want to check that as well. Good luck
