I'm from one of those 177 restricted countries. It was fishy Sony didn't put the game back into the restricted regions after the claimed to walk back the decision, especially after the first day. So I went to the Sony steam page and checked the ignore option. I plan to sail the high seas on their titles. As a result, I'm in the process of building a 2nd PC just as an emulation station. I refuse to let a plastic box, with some solid sand inside and any company dictate what I can, should play or if I deserve to even enjoy it.
I absolutely dont blame you at all.
I also live in one of the 177 countries, and I will sail the high seas with Jack Sparrow on all Sony games going forward.
If you had already bought it would you be able to play? I ask because I hope those who bought it prior ti sony losing their f'n mind can at least play the game now.

One thing that wasn't mentioned, a majority of PlayStations online games, require you to have an active PS Plus membership to play. Ever since they hiked the price up on PS Plus to $80.oo a yr for the basic, and $140/160.oo for the premium. They have been loosing subscribers constantly. So instead of walking back one bad decission, they've instead turned to the PC market and made more bad decissions.

I somewhat expected Sony to do this with Ghosts, because Sucker Punch said that Ghosts will not be required to link to PSN account if you wanna paly single player only, but only for multiplayer. And yet Sony did the same shit that they did with HD2 by banning all those countries from purchasing and playing the single player part...which to me feels like self sabotage to give them a reason to not port games to PC anymore? Because that sure feels like it.

Blocking GoT in all non-PSN countries just tells me that Sony want even Single Player for that game to eventually require PSN. Ergo: forcing people who have enjoyed playing it to have to give up their personal data and ID to them just to finish or continue playing a game that they'd purchased. Not a risk I want to take, and after the HD2 debacle I'd already decided to wait at least a year or more before getting GoT port. Not going to at all, now, not until we have something hard and fast and legally binding from Sony AND all nations get the option to buy their games.

I'm Moroccan and psn is not available for us as we are listed in those countries, you can bypass that by creating an account and choose a different region, the down side of that is you can only buy digital games by purchasing gift cards, and because we are listed there we don't get physical games on release, if I want to buy a physical game I basically need to wait a long time untill a seller would import it from spain. It's pretty shitty but this is the type of shit we deal with here

I feel like we've been slowly heading towards a video game crash since 2013. I don't know if people remember this but Battlefield 4 which was a launch game on Xbox One/PS4 back in 2013 was completely broken and almost unplayable for like 2 years, they fixed the game and it's remembered as a great BF game now but I feel like people forget how bad that game was for a long time. Now we see broken game releases all the time, they haven't learned a thing.
Both last and the current generation has been full of bad video game decisions, loot boxes, unfinished broken games, closed studios. The Xbox 360/PS3 was the last generation that mostly had great finished games without all the modern flaws of gaming. (I'm specifically talking about the AAA games)
Playstation and Xbox seem to be in a "Who's the Bigger Dumbass" competition.

Nope, the goal is have PC log onto PSN to get you in there ecosystem. They aren't going to give up on that goal, if they do, they would have to pull PS games from PC because they want your info to sell it. Just selling you games isn't enough.

I've said this for nearly 30 years now, Wow/Blizzard ( not Activision) Ruined Gaming, with the Invention of the Subscription Service. not every damn game needs MP. Having said this, games like Helldivers 2, (in my day) Quake, Doom, UT. Those games are specifically designed for MP, so charge a Subscription Fee for them. the rest if you want to make money still just release good DLC. Fun Fact: back in my day MP was FREE....

Add that both EA and Ubisoft are talking again about pushing adds into fully priced games, I' d say the madness is about to kick of on a whole new level. In 2013 the EU Commission started an 2 year official scientific study " "Estimating Displacement rates of copyrighted content in the EU" to answer the question once and for all; if online piracy harmed the E-industry. It was finalized in 2015 and its findings were supposed to be made public, but the EU and the corps didnt liked the outcome so they cherry picked it and burried the study. Which now is public due to an "EU freedom of information request" by a former EU MEP. When it comes to video games, it was scientifically proven that online piracy of video games actually led to an increase of official sales. Though research only was done for the EU, but I bet simular studies twere conducted around the globe that came to the same conclusions. And of course burried cause they didnt liked its findings.
Going to be interesting how they want to claim damages if someone from these countries indeed pirates the game and gets sued…🤔

Game was rebaked garbage, pretending to first all sorts of stuff that was already done, and when peeps had an issue ...and here's the similarity... they basically round about told those peeps, they can F themselves, because they don't need them, and being niche would keep them alive.
Think 5-6 years later the entire thing shut down and plug was pulled, because obviously crapping on customers is never a winning economic strategy, and being niche instead killed them off, in one of the shortest-running MMO lifespans ever.

Sony proving once again they are the most anti consumer company with gaming. Say what you like about ms Xbox, they're the most consumer friendly gaming company. Was nice to see even asmongold say it when he watched that Sarah bond interview, and he isn't even an Xbox fan at all.
Mmm, Valve takes the cake for most consumer friendly company. They're part of the reason Helldivers was a victory for consumers, as they allowed refunds despite their policy, and were sending Sony the bill plus interest. Valve also does a ton to make PC gaming the most accessible way to play games.

Small correction, around 121 countries don't have access to PSN.... So, more than 50 of the countries in the ban do have a PSN account. I've lived in Puerto Rico all my life, which is a territory of the US. My PSN account goes all the way back to PS3, my last console, other than the Switch, that I owned since I've gone full PC. My friends and brother-in-law all have their PS5 connected to PSN. I linked Spiderman to my PSN network when I played it on Steam last year.... Imagine my frustration and disappointment when I logged into Steam today to pre-order Ghost of Tsushima.... I've been excited for this game since it was announced, I was even planning to get a PS5 once they were available for this and all the PS gems I've missed, until they began porting them to PC....
and now this.... Banning a country with access to the PSN network? This is discrimination and I wouldn't be surprised if a lawsuit pops out soon.
I'm confused, where did Sony lied. I hate them for their practices but if their strategy is to have PSN account for players buying their game on PC, isn't it their prerogative to do that? It's up to us consumer if we want to buy their game. They already reversed the account linking for HD2 but did they promised or stated that they will conitnue selling the game to the countries where PSN is not supported? Maybe i've missed that they stated that.
No, they did not. That's why most of the people involved are now realizing this was likely how Sony wanted things to play out.
Because you do not know what a premise is, on a transaction the parties involved between A and B and the fulfilling of the transaction is the goal, you lie from the start by putting not the A to B transaction but some subscription so we have two posible conclusions 1) You lack of the morals and intelligence or 2) You lack of the intelligence.
@@MLPIceberg I hate Sony's practices but there is a difference between bad and moronic sale strategy to outright telling lies which i thought i've missed. What is a blatant lie for example is what they did with Stellar Blade which they advertised as uncensored then censored it with a day 1 patch.
