I have a feeling this is just a temp win over sony. i have a feeling theyre gonna implement something similar to war thunder (gaijin). which is you can play without a gaijin account threw steam but the moment you want to buy there prem currently (golden eagles or something with real money) you have to log in no matter what to gaijin and comfirm your account . even if youre purchasing it threw steam or using the steam wallet . trust me sony is gonna add a features that gonna feel like a must have. and make it so you have to have a sony account to purchase it .

I don't think Sony gave a shit about the review bombing, what really got their attention was the wave of refund requests and approvals to Steam. Only thing those executives understand is money.
Oh absolutely, refunds means less money. Less money means less growth. Less growth affects stock price.
Had it just been review bombed why would they care? They made the money. Losing your fanbase loyalty and trust means nothing as long as the next quarter is up.

Yes and no. The review bombing worked because it accelerated those things. Bad word of mouth DOES do damage to a product. It won't be the primary source of damage but it's still a source.
This community really stood up for the game and should be commended. Hope to see game companies be more attuned to players' needs in the future.
The community stood up yes and they believed in the lies and theatre from the marketing, game is still restricted in over 120 Countries and PSN is still on the table for being required.

Which shows a great impact, as about more or less 60k players since 2 days ago cannot play the game anymore on the same peak hours.
What's weird... We don't have PSN here and some countries that have official Sony stores in them.

Look, I'm a Foxhole player. Sony should have known better than to pick a fight with a community that wages a war driven by their own efforts.
Dude seeing the orbital nuke come down from the helldivers community was both impressive and humbling.
I also am a Foxhole player, I've watched it on a smaller scale when creature people like BadmanLarry royally piss off the community. After the 82 Dumb Kids event happened, I barely slept or ate trying to dismantle that piece of shit (Which uh, mission accomplished, still have the screenshots of us hollowing out his bunker base).
I dont think I went that hard for Sony because ruining a neckbeards month verses taking on a multibillion dollar corporation's profit margin seems like a lot harder comparatively. But yeah ill take all the time out of my day if theres an organized effort to spit in Sony's face.

Foxhole is another great game with a persistent community driven war that struggles with server issues and bugs, the difference is that Siegecamp doesn’t really communicate with anyone before releasing an update that breaks the game balance.

I believe the main reason Sony chose to retract their policy was that
1. They knew PR would not be able to fix this.
2. It's a community of millions, 100s of thousands of active players. That's a good chunk of public uproar.
3. The amount of people that were willing to file with the ECC were a decent chunk, and there also were posts circulating on leaked sony contact data.
All of which spells out "Less profit" to Sony.
And now they're just implementing it stealthily by making it where any region that doesn't have PSN can't buy Ghost of Tsushima or Helldivers. People don't realize we've still lost.

Not sure how one can be greedy with a FREE PSN account to play the Sony owned MP on Sony servers.
But I do look forward to the videos from all these people crying denouncing Microsoft for requiring a FREE XBL account to play Sea of Thieves MP On Microsoft servers.

This is true but the CEO of Arrowhead has confirmed multiple times that they are in the process of fixing this with Sony so that Steam can properly fix its region lock on buying the game. Unless Sony backpeddles I would say there is a good chance that it will change back.

The community only cared about PSN being enforced on them. Regions are still delisted. Steam/Valve has no control over that, the Publisher(Sony) does.
There is no morale, they didn't lifted a single fucking finger and removed any restrictions. Still around 40% of the playerbase that bought the game on Steam can't play it currently.

It will be a sad day when the torch is passed and whoever takes over from Gabe inevitably messes the company up to squeeze as much money as possible from us. I think at that point I will fully move over to games that can't have their access taken away (solo/offline games, emulation, etc.). Assuming the government hasn't made regulations so we can actually own our games again by that point.
We havent won yet, sony still doesnt sell the game in any of the blacklisted areas. Valve actually released a statement that the publisher was still blocking sales.

I love how the gaming news environment is so crazy right now that each of act mans videos recently makes a reference to the newest controversy that he hasn't even had time to cover because of how fast everything is moving. His Tarkov video references this controversy, and this video referenced the tango gameworks shutdown LMAO. Shits crazy rn.

Publishers are pushing for far too much control and the layoffs aren't helping
Negative reviews mean nothing to Sony. Steam allowing refunds is what got them to revert the change. Money is the only language these corporations speak.
Sony saying that linking isn't mandatory got steam to stop issuing refunds. So they won. There's the refund denied screenshot that says the publisher hasn't sent in a request to allow those countries to play the game. On the contrary they delisted more places psn isn't available.
Seems like Sony won to me. Or well, got a pyrrhic victory as they still have to let some people play without psn, who got in before the lockdown.
If money was the reasoning here they wouldn't be delisting 180 regions out of the picture. That's anything but profitable

Never let a customer bully you into thinking they are right in any matter other than their tastes, if you know better for sure and have a means to back yourself up you should always correct that customer and should do so as a general person in day-to-day activities.
People just dont know how the world works, so many people see their TV or Computer as a magic black box that does magic stuff and puts a picture on the screen, how utterly depressing is it that we spent thousands of years to get to this point and most of us can;t even muster up the intellect to comprehend things.

Well damn i didnt expect for my render to appear in an Act Man video of all things. I honestly have no words to express how excited I am at this.
I live in albania, one of the countries which was part of the delisting and for some reason on steam it shows "notice: this game only supports japanese interface/voice for customers in japan". They couldnt even get the unavailability notice right
Steam is also terrible at localisation as well. They use US Pacific time for a lot of languages instead of just using the system's timezone, which they do use in other areas. They are so inconsistent.
I think it shows that for every delisted country.
They have delisted in Serbia even tough it fully supports PSN.

I'm from a country where you cannot register a PSN account. About a month ago I bought Ghost of Tsushima on Steam and the other day our game journalists announce that the game won't be available in our country because of this sony bs. The game was in my steam library until yesterday, opened steam and saw no game but my steam wallet got fatter for that price. Also, you can't purchase Helldivers here, nothing has been reverted.
This. This wasn't a win for gamers as a whole, just for some HD2 players in first world countries who could not be bothered to create a PSN account.
Same from the Philippines here and can't buy Sony games.

I reckon Sony is gonna put the requirements back, make it permanent for games in the future, and this time sacrifice Helldivers to do so. There's no other logical reason why the 180 countries are still out, outside of stupidity.

I’m over here on Xbox, can’t afford a new pc or ps4/5 to play but this community seems to reach even us and I hope they actually undo their fuckups soon even if I’ve lost hope they’ll let us in the reserves fight alongside the helldivers. The community deserves better then this shit and everyone’s efforts show as much.

As an xbox kid it's been pretty sad watching the entire fucking internet gush about this game while xbox is over there shooting itself in the face by firing a bunch of studios.
Prior to this whole thing, I was honestly hopeful Sony would move towards porting it to Xbox. We could use the extra divers, and lord knows they'd sell another several million copies. That's easy money. Especially with Xbox exclusives making their way to PS.
Then they decided to go out and shoot the golden goose.
Ironic that the helldivers where trained to work together on major orders through the game, then they worked together to reviewbomb steam to revert the changes
And then gave up after Sony said they surrender. And right after that sony requests steam to delist more countries. And then there is the steam refund screenshot that says the publisher hasn't asked to relist them.
Seems like helldivers lost to clever tactics.

This is also required for the brand new Ghost of Tsushima PC release on Steam, so Sony has learned nothing. It's sad, both are great games.

Ghosts of Tsushima now requires a PSN account and a number of Sony games on Steam are being delisted or region locked to include Helldivers 2.

To be honest, as a helldiver's player who loves the game. I feel like this whole debacle led to severely reduced player counts. It feels like half as many people are playing, we failed the last community objective and it feels like we're going to fail the next one as well. Additionally a podcaster I listen to(Morning somewhere) said he won't play the game as a community playdate because of this fiasco. It sucks, Sony really screwed up and I feel like even though the review bombs did force Sony to reverse course it left a permanent scar and tanked the hype and momentum of the game.
Most of us are not playing in solidarity for the 177+ countries/regions that cannot play, why would you play when others who own the game cannot? Kinda selfish isn't it?
More over I bet most of us have friends all over the world and know at least one person in an affected country/region.

@@Rexhunterj That's a bunch of BS. It has been on the decline for a while. Mostly just leveling off from the early hype but there were over 100k online on Sunday afternoon at the peak of the review bombing and steam charts show barely a drop since. Can't say what PS analytics are but since this a PC side issue you would think the biggest affect would be on PC side and it has hardly made a difference.
Hey, I like older games. They're beautiful in their own way.
The Sony drama, bugs and crashes, nerfs and devs fighting with players are contributing to the game slowly bleeding players we used to have 100k on either side of the map and then some now we can barely finish a MO or just fail which hurts to see this game die slowly. Hopefully it bounces back soon.
10:25 Valve totally when to Sony and said, "If you go through with this, we will delist this game, and refund those players...but your ass is getting a nice lawsuit after the dust settles" to Sony and that's what really made Sony roll back this head scratcher of a decision.
