If you are here from Europe, you can still buy it for though 3rd party key stores. Since PSN is not required, you can still play it. I dont think countries in other continents are as fortunate, but you arent completely baned from buying it here.

@@Klarud yeah but these tend to be Japanese only games, meaning everything is in Japanese and can’t be changed otherwise, so if you’re living there for work like a soldier for example you have to get a version that you won’t understand without knowing fluent Japanese.
The Yakuza games are an example of this, they don’t even have English subtitles and the UI can’t even be changed to English.
Please use your brain or at the very least use Google. Japan has their own version of Ghost of Tsushima on Steam.

I agree, though to be fair the vast majority of the African continent's population can't afford a console/gaming PC, let alone have a stable enough internet connection for online multiplayer gaming, so Sony's probably not missing much from them.

That only happened because Nintendo forced all licensed 3rd parties to make a limited amount of games per year, forcing devs to make sure each and every game they made was quality enough to sell a lot.
Of course, some devs made sub division companies to bypass Nintendo's strict restrictions (Konami made Ultra Games to double the quantity of NES output).
If you want something done right then don't leave it to a company, the sole purpose of a company is to make money.

If the counties mentioned are blocking buying the game, then we can only vote with our wallets. However, if it is blocking players who already bought the game, then it would be fraudulent on Sony’s part. Meaning that a class action lawsuit could be filed.

I think Sony could run into some legal trouble with this. Some of the countries that can't purchase Helldivers 2 and Ghost of Tsushima for PC are in the EU, and people in some EU countries are in fact allowed to purchase the game. The idea of being able to purchase some things in some EU states but not others is really not something the EU likes, unless it's because of legislation introduced by a given state, which this isn't.
I've always thought it was funny that people complained about the people in RE5. Think of how hard they would be complaining if a game set in Africa was not primarily dark skin color... I guess they want the virus to only target the Dutch.

Well websites like steam db are showing stuff from the background earlier than expected and this is resulting in overreaction and reactionary news which is making it look worse. Ultimately nothing has been set in stone. Cash is still king and the biggest thing will be for Sony to figure out how to get all countries integrated because throwing away revenue from other companies.
If buying it doesn't mean that you actually own it, then pirating it doesn't mean that you actually stole it.

I think probably is more a Steam issue. They were the ones that would be selling non functioning games and probably face the legal ramifications and refunds. My guess is Steam is taking its time checking all their deals with Sony making sure Sony can't screw them again.

Ghost of Tsushima is pretty much a love letter to the most legendary samurai movie director of all time in Japan, so why on gods green earth would they restrict the sale of this game in Japan? That makes no sense... We live in an alternate dimension at this point.

It’s honestly is crazy that these RE5 reviews do not play the game itself, hell, the very first infect encounter cut scene shows exactly what you the player are facing: you’re facing zombies that are very aggressive and violent
