I got banned from my favorite TF2 server back in the day because I popped off with a sniper and was accused of cheating, at the time I was super proud of myself but then kind of stopped playing the game because other servers weren't as good. Glad that getting banned for being good at a game didn't annihilate my Steam account.

Yeah, that guy from the clip should be temporary or permanently banned. That's something you don't even joke about. But the moment you start hardware or IP banning without taking context into consideration, or even basing it on politics, it's not only a few but many steps to far.

We non-native English speakers are at risk, since an innocent accent could be interpreted as having said something "problematic". Epic may enforce such bans, but Steam is not going to conform to them, since it is so incredibly bad for business. There is zero worry there.

Not to defend Valorant because I have some choice words for the company behind it, but I don't think the hardware ban is what you think it is. I can't find any information suggesting that the hardware ban prevents you from playing OTHER games on your platform, just that you can't use your machine to play Valorant, specifically, even if you use other accounts. Now, will it spread to prevent you from playing other games you purchased on your platform cuz you got banned from Valorant? Probably, one of these days, but it's important to stay accurate when criticizing something, lest we overshoot and come across as crying wolf.

The problem will be what counts as wrong. We've seen that in groups, there's wrongthink and double standards as well and we can see that play out here. Female says x to male, it's all fine, male says exactly the same x to female and it's a problem. We've seen that over and over again. That's the only reason that this video (the second half) exists. Without this knowledge we all would welcome this change with open arms.
