Recently completed my English test to graduate and even though I live in Germany all the freaking woke topics got their spot in the spotlight in it.

Now one of my chinese friends getting ready to pass TOEFL exam or something, and she said that part of oral test would be answering question like: man likes to wear a colorful outfits, what do you think about that. And you HAVE to answer in politically corrert manner. I was like what is this?

As a Filipino man, I would be the most miserable person on the planet if I expected or demanded a Filipino character in every single movie, show, or video game I consumed.

The AAA industry was headed towards a cliff the day the major studios went public. Yes, it gave them invested money but it also shackled them to shareholders. They needed the investment to show to banks so they could extend their lines of credit to keep the lights on between games, but that has led to the over monetization of games, and the pressure large shareholders can exert on the company. All most all the major studios started making bad/derivative/substandard games after going public.

I'm autistic, and how many games show autism representation? Watch Dogs 2 has a character with Aspergers. Mass Effect 2 DLC has a character with autism. We're going 7 years without any sort of autistic representation in games, yet the pride flag, gay/trans characters, and gender/race swaps are in practically every production. This isn't representation, this is ownership. This reminds me of Duck Dodgers and Marvin the Martian planting their flags and claiming a planet.

Despite what these people believe, colonization does not specifically mean to settle on physical land, by definition it refers to appropriating a space or domain, then establishing control over the people that were there before you. I don't think it's even a stretch to say that considering the technological age that we're now in, this would absolutely apply to digital spaces and cultural collectives/industries.
Honestly whether or not it technically falls under the definition of colonization is irrelevant, the point is that the mindset, the course of actions, they are identical. IIRC, the number of LGBTQ+ people in the USA is roughly 11%, when you actually look at it from a unbiased source. These organizations are not unbiased. They have every reason to try to sell the idea that 100% of gamers are LGBTQ+ if possible, because they are activists, and if there is no issue, than there is no money for them. If I'm going to be charitable here, at most LGBTQ+ players are going to be roughly in the 20% range in terms of video games. I want people to reflect on that number a bit.
These companies are throwing away 80% of their existing player base to TRY to appease 11% of the population, and hope they play their games, all at the behalf of activist organizations that are sucking money out like parasites, because they are absolutely lying about all their numbers. I don't believe them for a single second.
Edit: Quick google search makes it 7.1% among adults. Seriously, once you look at the structure in all of this, you realize that these pandering organizations are literally just big business scams that are technically legal.

The only solution is to ignore them, create the content (in all media) that you know will resonant with the majority and reject the notion that people need to see themselves in the characters. A hero is universal... it speaks to potential in all of us, it doesn't really matter what it looks like, but it should appeal to the majority. Going out of your way to claw in people from the fringes of your audience by sacrificing mass appeal is guaranteed to end in disaster.

Nah, they've been running into the ground a lot longer than that. It has just becoming more and more mainstream for that long. They were doing this in comics since the early 2000s at least and have been slowly pushing it into children's programing for almost just as long.

Years ago, my friends and I often talked about Pride Month and the LGBT. Ten years later, a friend noticed that our university campus was celebrating its second Pride event, Pride Week, in the middle of the spring semester. Out of curiosity, we looked it up and discovered that there are nearly 100 days dedicated to Pride or significant LGBTQQIP2SA observances throughout the year. It feels like they are black hole, always consuming and never satisfied.
Soon it will be celebrated year around, They already turned easter into a transgender awareness day for what reason? Like seriously it was a perfectly good holiday prior.

People, on average, are so sick of it that companies continue to lose money in all media. The longer it goes, the fewer average people will buy or support it. Personally, I'm now highly selective of all media I purchase.

@darkjelly944 I have to mostly. Movies, newer TV shows, and games are 50/50, but I find I buy way less. I'm just not into the changes and things they implement into my escapism. It's supposed to be fun, fantasy, and enjoyable. It does shock me that despite the loss of sales and revenue, companies persist. It's fine though, it's like any product. Food, cars, PC's, books or anything else. If people don't enjoy the product, they simply stop buying them. I've just never seen so many companies blame a consumer of the product(s) get blamed for not buying what they don't enjoy as if there's something wrong with them and not the less and enjoyable product. It's actually defies logic when you think about it.

These people wish they could make a diverse likable caste of characters like in the Fallout TV show. Maximus isn’t just a token black man he’s actually got a setup, a history, motivations etc. and Lucy isn’t a girl boss, she struggles with adapting to a harsh wasteland she’s unfamiliar with. It makes the show interesting and when you see characters written this well it’s easy to like them. These writers are so creatively bankrupt they can only twist other good things into shitty things. JRR Tolkien said something about evil not being able to create only change & perverse things, and it’s very true, we’re seeing it live in real time.

I'm a female pensioner and have been playing games since the days of the old Commodore 64 text based stuff.
Game companies appear to have forgotten how to write compelling stories and purportedly fail at doing so without bringing in a consultancy company? Well maybe they deserve to go out of business then, given they fail at the basics.
I never really noticed gaming being male dominated. I don't think I even thought about it. Was perfectly happy to play as Enzio Auditore or any other male character in story based games because he and others were well written and developed characters that I could identify with, their hopes and struggles became my hopes and struggles for the duration of the game.
More recently I preferred to play Eivor in Valhalla as a male, because in the historical setting it made more sense to me.

I don't want to see myself, I can look in any mirror to do that - I want to be immersed in a good story with a character who captures my imagination.
Characters like that are sadly lacking these days, designed (badly) to purportedly appeal to everyone they actually appeal to no one.
Every time it goes from representation to vastly over-representation. To a degree I get that people want to be represented in various medias but then it always goes to vastly over-representing. If you're only a very small minority of the population it stands to reason that you're not going to see your representation as much. That obviously doesn't mean there shouldn't be representation but when it gets to the point where every other commercial, movie, and game starts having that representation it becomes an issue that ends up hurting your cause. That's not what the real world looks like. it also becomes an issue because it goes way past representation and into hard-core pandering and identity politics and most people see right through that nonsense. These companies are hurting your cause, not helping.
If you can't do your job without using a consulting company, you shouldn't be doing it in the first place. In other words, your incompetent!

Well the problem is no one person can know everything and unless you are at the top making decisions you don't choose... if you're making an FPS maybe you have to learn all about different types of guns and how people talk and act in the military. If you don't have personal experience hiring a consultant can make sure everything is accurate, and it saves you time (aka money). It could be any random knowledge from almost any field that you don't know about since that person makes games for a living. Plus, it isn't uncommon to have to outsource SOMETHING to get your game out the door on time. So it isn't consulting ITSELF that is the issue IMO.
The issue is with IDEOLOGY being pushed by activists in everything. They could be working at a McDonald's and demand everyone conform to their ideas or else. It's the same thing just taking place in a different industry.
