There's one major rule of conversations and debates that so many people have forgotten as of late:
- Making assumptions of people you don't know automatically nullifies anything you have to say. All it does is that it angers the other party (possibly driving them on an offensive or defensive stance in their replies) and traps YOUR mind to only see things one way, either reaction then eliminates any chance of a proper discussion. Whenever someone does that, I immediately list them in my "Lost Cause" section and ignore them from that point onwards. That list is getting way too long and its getting tiring.
Also, being defensive and lashing out right off the bat likewise immediately nullifies whatever point you're trying to make. If you want to make a point or ask questions, do it respectfully without judgement or bias. A lot of us are getting tired of the "let's have a conversation - by conversation, I mean I'm going to make statements and belittle your point of view" crowd. Discussions aren't supposed to be about who is right or wrong, but sharing points of view that lead to meaningful change.
Plus, most comments on YT vids through context are linked to whatever points are made in said video.

Star Wars was for everyone. In my thoughts, I came up with two reasons for people who claim it wasn't: A) they're lying or B) they're more at fault to not being welcomed into the community than they'll admit.
My parents were lifelong fans of Star Wars and had me surrounded by a galaxy far, far away since I was born. I'm now 34, openly gay, and have never once felt as if anyone was pushing me out.

Fans will fire back and these big companies forget that what makes a movie money is the fans. You insult them with name calling and accusing them of being something just because they want a decades rich story well written without DEI. They will boycott your movies. Back when the Original trilogy was in theaters, diverse crowds of humans stood around the block waiting for tickets, all enjoying each other's company. Nobody was excluded, nobody was told, "This isn't for you!" or "You're too toxic to stand in line with us." Nothing in the movies beat us over the head with politics. This was pure, escapist entertainment, and a LOT of the fans were young men who weren't the alpha coolest bad-asses, and their friends, families and dates. These guys loved being able to escape and feel like greatness was possible. Now? Diversity and Inclusion doesn't include us, not even a little bit.

I think it's worth exploring the point that Disney doesn't care about Star Wars because all it is for them is a vehicle to showcase their progressive bona fides. It's about the ESG. Disney knows that shows and movies aren't as profitable as they once were, but they offer opportunities to hire "diverse" people in a very visible way. If they didn't want this show to be known as a "Queer" show, they could've easily never led with any of the marketing with it or even better in the interview strike down the rumor entirely. Will & Grace is a show that came out in the late 90s early 00s and it wasn't directly queer about its subject matter. Still, as an adult rewatching it you can tell the writers didn't want to put off a large part of the late-night audience while also telling an unconventional story... Lucas Film did not set out to do this.

The issue with modern writing ,TV, film and actually, the vast majority of contemporary ideologue is it lacks all consistency. It self contradicts at almost every turn and requires a convoluted and often illogical device to explain the 'why'. It actually makes sense that one could end up making different sexual choices based on availability, even crossing gender. This is done in prison and has been done by radical feminists in the 80s. This is because everyone has the inherent ability to swing the other way because, contrary to popular belief, whether we do gay or straight things is absolutely a choice because we control our own actions. So, yes, if only women are around, a lot more of them will swing with each other than if there were men there too because if other women are their only option, that would be preferable to them than no one. This reality just isn’t typically espoused because it undercuts the whole “immutability” argument that the alphabet community have been using to beat people over the head into accepting and normalizing their deviance, but Headland basically said the quiet part out loud through her writing, that one way to make more gay people is to limit the availability of opposite sex prospects and, of course, the other way is through grooming, which she’s trying to do through this series.

Star Wars issue goes beyond being woke now, the issue is that it should have ended for good many years ago: The main storyline was completed in 2005, the expanded universe (Legends) provided an interesting story for those that wanted a narrative post Return of the Jedi. And in terms of side stories and in-between all the relevant topics have been covered: Clone Wars, Kotor, etc.
There's nothing left to explore anymore, even the strongest contemporary projects like Fallen Order or Survivor add nothing of substance (in terms of narrative), no series can keep going forever. At some point they hit the peak and you either stay there or keep going down.
Just let the series die instead of being a slopping ground.

I love the line from Sharmeen, "As a story teller..." I AM A PROFESSIONAL STORY TELLER. As a REAL storyteller your primary focus is to craft an entertaining story, not force your opinion on fans. And if this narrative is adding to narratives by other story tellers, you want those existing fans to continue through your story. Charmin will not do this, as a documentary writer she has ZERO creative abilities. Much like Lesley, she imagines that their little group (whether it's LGBTQIA+ or haters of Muslim men) will just flock together to see their creation, which is destroying an existing franchise to cater to non-fans. Insulting and threatening the existing fan base while destroying what they love in favor of a group of non fans who do not show up anyways, is plain hubris and ignorance. This business is brutal. Lashing out at those who hate your work is absolutely classless. No one creates a story that is loved by everyone. If someone hands you a fan base, they (the true fans) should be catered to.
