Exactly, who the heck reads IGN or any other "game media" these days? I dont know anyone that does. Last time i read a game article or review made by any of these game-medias was literally 20 years ago. Steam score, streams and youtube reviews have made them redundant. On top of that they have made themself less and less trustworthy. It seems to me these medias and "journalists" only have any influence at all because the out-of-touch boomers running the triple-A gaming industry (and society in general) think they are still the main source where people get their information from.
They laugh as they take everything yet deep down they are miserable and unsatisfied.

And ESG and DEI isn't going away either, it's evolving into BRIDGE. Ubisoft is the first to implement BRIDGE into it's corporate structure, they said so recently, look it up.

I think that game review websites are generally not long for this world. I grew up buying videogame magazines religiously but the industry has totally changed and the people writing the reviews aren't gamers.
I'd rather listen to CZcamsrs that I trust or keep my ear to the ground on social media.

Watching no commentary gameplay videos give you an unfiltered view of the game before you buy. I also watch both positive and negative reviews.

Is Hellblade 2 woke? Because I didn't think the first one was. And no, having a female protagonist doesn't make something woke. So why would you cheer the failing of that game? At least they aren't race swapping the Norse people in the game. Unless someone can point out something legitimately woke about it I'm going to buy it. I will support non-woke game companies and avoid the woke ones.

Uh, Jason Schrier is hardly any better. He's one of the key figures who kicked off the original GamerGate ten years ago. He has neither apologized for nor been held accountable for his actions back then
The man openly did PR for his friends without disclosure, stole from other journalists that found/dug and researched actual leaks and usually follows it up by twitter crying over how leaks are bad (but only when others do it), kept getting shit-in-face with statements like "OW2 story mode will not be cancelled, rumors of those statements from devs are fake with zero truth to it (on multiple social media sites like yt, twatter and reddit iirc a week or so before blizz confirmed it to be dead officially)" because his PR buddies didnt actually have dev info/wanted to push the last pr spin, etc. Yet like in early days of kotaku and co, is one of the folks with enough backing to make it be forgotten by the general public.
Tho to be accurate, he wasnt among the figures that kicked off GG, he was merely a notable topic because a solid fifth of the intentional lies journos pushed were from him based on the GJP leaks before jumping in to PR shift into protecting his own ass and his crony friends once the leaks happened with a hard push on the "its hate against women, just look at how even these gamer CEOs hate their female employees" (while proceeding to lie about the timeline of events in all cases, iirc one was some puzzle game the other was either Lost Empires, Sins of Solar Empire or one of the Endless games/a 4x game of the time).

Its also why he was never right on any devs only known leaks and e.g. the few months ago claimed Overwatch 2 story mode is progressing and claims that rumor from devs and ex-devs that its essentially dead in the water have zero truth to them... just to within a week be proven wrong, going on deleting spree (i think the YT and reddit comments of it are still up tho) and them just copy pasting others reports with minor wording changes on the topic.

Technically there IS meant to be a Law against Monopolies, but no duh it's not gonna get enforced when dirty money is traded around to persuade law makers and such to ignore it.

Probably the blissfully ignorant crowd that games casually, which is a huge demographic to be certain. People that care enough to follow channels like this won't be tricked, but I feel like the masses will adopt whatever garbage gets spewed at them by journos.

Everyone should be making efforts to preserve historical accuracy and integrity. People who actually try to make revisions to history to suit some kind of race based agenda is just gross.. They want so badly for there to be black samurais, black Egyptians, black Spartans, but it just wasn't that way.

I honestly dont go to any corporate or gaming journos sites for gaming news. Everything I learn is from gaming youtubers that like to talk about what they learn and their honest opinions.
best youtube reviewers are Worthabuy (pc games) and Synthetic Man. Angry Centaur Gaming is ok, but has many run-on sentences which makes him hard to understand. (the quirky humor gets in the way imo)

IGN, the most ignored site there is. Yet it's always pushed at #1 spot when you look for trailers of gameplay or guides.

The solution to all this is simple:
Stop buying. Just stop. Stop going to these sites and completely stop buying anything from these companies.
We have TONS of old games that are still great and fun to play. I see a great revival of games of past years getting popular again. Mass Effect, Fallout, Skyrim, Oblivion, No Man's Sky, etc. There are literally TONS of great games we can still play. Why continue being abused and attacked by these companies? New games are 99% garbage anyway. When the industry stops receiving OUR money, they are doomed, no matter what lies they try to force upon us.
WE HAVE ULTIMATE POWER BECAUSE WE GENERATE ALL THE MONEY. Never forget this.

I honestly had more fun playing Return to Grace which I just finished on Gamepass on series X and a little Kitty big city which I have been playing now and again than that interactive movie that would have been better as an experience on Netflix .
7 years for that nonsense lol. Ninja Theory does have a built in English pub in their building though so you can only imagine where most of the staff spend their time 🙂
I actually really liked the first Hellblade but you can also play it at 60 fps on console and the world has more explorable areas as well. Add in that it was made by a team of just 20 people and to me that game is far more impressive than this glorified tech demo.
The Matrix demo is actually more fun lol. I still think it looked much more technically impressive too. Hellblade 2 doesn’t even have Raytracing of any kind.
I mean, I have gamepass so I don't really care, but 50 dollars for a 5 hour game....oof.

Unpopular take here, but I thought the first hellblade was a bit overrated and only got half as popular as it was due to the whole schizoid sim gimmick.

Glad I've had IGN blocked in my hosts file for several years now.
Knowing how people are in online matches i can say for certainty that when they get bombarded with ads after dying/respawning those games are going to be review bombed so hard and fast. These companies wont even be given the opportunity to recover from their fumble. As for the ign situation they NEED to be taken to court because holding a monopoly over anything is illegal and the whole Microsoft gaming situation only serves to prove my point.

Only thing you're missing is that these companies have lobbyists that basically make our "public servants/politicians" look the other way, add a loophole in those laws, or just flat out don't enforce them. Sad reality but true. Obviously if we finally made noise about it that would change, which i think we are getting to that point, thankfully.
They will NEVER stop pushing DEI and social engineering into games, they will just make it a lot more subtle. They are planting seeds in the naive and innocent developing minds. It will sprout when the current generation ages out of the demographic they can't deceive.
My big issue with Yasuke is Ubisoft describing him as a 'legendary Samurai'...surely a 'legendary Samurai' would have had a fair bit more documentation and recognition? Even if he was an actual Samurai, it still comes across like he was little more than a footnote in history.

I haven't gone to one of these sites for a review, and opinion, or even a walkthrough in so long I can't even remember when the last time was. "Absorb and then Dissolve" is a HIGHLY common tactic used in business mergers and for good reason. It's generally way more efficient for parent companies to consolidate as much of the industry traffic as possible. There are very few examples where keeping traffic separated would be the better move and this is not one of them.

Any chance you could add chapters to future videos when you change topics? It would help when your videos cover more than one topic and I've heard one but not the other and want to navigate without having to watch a full 20min video. Would appreciate it as I'm sure others would as well.
