As a black man I can say that Shapiro is 100% correct about the skills segment. I’m a Quality Control Inspector of Electronics. I went to school and served in the US Navy. I’m from a block called Columbia Road(C-Road). I grew up around nothing but violence and I even sold drugs earlier in my teenage life. My moms stayed on me unlike a lot of the other guys from my hood! Out of 30 of us that hung together only 3 of us are accomplished. The rest dropped out of school in the 7th grade. Wanting more out of life, not blaming the white man, and gaining the skills and education I needed to make it is all I did. They could have done the same! Why didn’t they? That’s the question that should be asked of my people. Why are some of us making it out the misery while others stay and call it the struggle. Let’s talk about it!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm 75 and I wish the question you ask is one that could be asked over and over, until every black person who struggles with no end in sight has had a chance to look at their own life experience and think about that question. I'm not black so please forgive my ignorance on this subject, but I've thought for many it must seem hopeless if they are buckling under the weight of a lack of money/education/job and can't even see how to take the first step. What would be the right response to that? Thank you again.

This meant getting up at the crack of dawn to get me to a sitter and getting to school 2 towns away. She did this whether she was tired, sick, or whatever. Fallacies have no place in real arguments and should only be used to learn how to debate. Those who use fallacies aren't intelligent and only use them as a cheat because they aren't capable of critical thought.
A fallacy is an attempt to catalogue common errors. Think of it like [x + y] = z or [a - b] =/= c where z, c are fallacies. In an argument you need to prove that adding x and y is equal to z. You can't just state "what you said equals z". It is equivalent to writing a math test and not showing your work. It becomes extremely evident you needed a calculator for basic addition but it is also impossible to know whether or not you actually know the answer, or guessed it. If you do that you aren't winning the argument.
      1. An argument with a "fallacy" can still be correct
      2. There's no way of knowing if the person calling out the fallacious argument actually knows what they are talking about
      3. The only response to "that's a fallacy" is "no it's not [restate points]"
I figured this out before learning about it but for anyone who isn't capable of critical thought you can look up the fallacy fallacy.
For example: "that's the authority fallacy" should be "authority figures aren't always right and there is evidence that..."

Scientists and doctors around the world, including countries that are far better educated than America, agree that transgenderism isn't a mental disorder, it's simply how that person's brain patterns are 'wired.' A recent study corroborates previous studies that show that transgendered individuals have similar brain patterns to those who's sex they identify with. Fact of the matter is, this is not something that should be political as there is zero reason for it to be. A person's health, mental or physical, should be between them and their doctor and no one else.
Transgendered individuals are shown to have similar levels of ptsd as African Americans who have grown up in the United States, as well as those who have grown up in the Middle East, while transgendered individuals who grow up in countries such as Denmark, Sweden, and Switzerland are found to have much lower suicide rates and mental health disorders.

You'd have to argue that the vast majority of the scientific community with respect to the topic of sex and gender are activists, then.
Ben is very good at making snappy, memorable points, but the science just doesn't agree with him on this topic.

@@WitchHunter93 science? Sure it does. It makes more sense to feel like something other than a gender. What he basically said is that, if gender and sex aren't tied together at the root, then why use gender to describe someone at all? The concept of gender doesn't even have to exist for someone to behave how they're comfortable behaving.
In my opinion, the bigger issue is anyone identifying themselves by a gender, sex, race, sexuality, etc. Is there nothing else in their lives? A person is defined by their accomplishments. None of those things are accomplishments. They should turn all that attention into developing personal skills that are beneficial to themselves and others.

@@WitchHunter93 everything in our society these days has become political, in one way or another. Knowing that, I can agree with him. Transgenderism wasn't even really a big thing or widely accepted within the medical community until recently and the only reason I believe it did is because those within that community feared backlash. Its nothing unheard of either really, like during the holocaust there were doctors in germany who played into the politics there and said jews were inferior to germans and pushed that agenda.

    • @daemetheus
      @daemetheus Před 2 lety +1

@@juxtaposed4037 Neither was being homosexual (watch 20th century documentaries about "The Homosexual" who is somehow also attracted to young boys). It's still a "given" in certain communities that one can willfully choose what they find attractive.
A particular thought experiment is: What if some magical medical process was used upon you that changed your biology to an opposite gender? 1) Are you still your original gender or the new biological one? 2) You've had X years living the life of the original gender; what does that mean and how does it translate to living your life in this changed body? Are you still internally one gender and externally another?
I argue it's less activism and more about constant progress in psychology and similar fields of science, and how we create a sense of self-identity and what we want to be recognized as due to our social needs. Nobody is taking away someone else's rights, and is instead adding additional rights, and thus needs to have a political component. Where is there a problem with this?

My hat's off to this young man. Although I'm not quite an intellectual & a lot of what he's saying I have to think really fast which is not who I am, but I know that he's smart and I know that he's definitely using his critical thinking skills which many don't do these days, they usually let other people do their thinking for them. Or try to bully people into thinking the way they want them to thank
. He definitely knows how to talk to the people and that's great.

His smile when he lets his guard down 18:44 is adorable 🥰 also, i love that he does these debats and Q&A's with students and young adults who will quite literally be running our country in 20+ years and in the next generations. He is giving them confidence to stand up for what they believe in and have a voice and opinions in politics and our nation and world as a whole. It's beautiful to see. When I was younger it was nowhere near this open for young adults to share opinions on politics especially in such an open way. Ben also is always accepting of the questions and opinions of these kids and debates respectfully rather he agrees or not with you. It's very noble of him and goes to show he gives a shit about this country and the people who inhabit it. More than I can say about most public figures 👍
