Arsenal was clearly in such a state that Arteta had to take us a step back before we went forward. Firstly, he got rid of the deadwood players before adding to the team as he didn't want their attitude rubbing off on players such as saliba. Then there was a long period when we weren't scoring much as Mikel was only focused on getting the defence corrected, which was right to do as our defence was frequently falling apart for many years. Which then lead us to a lack of goals due to the defensive work he had put in. Then last year we lacked depth, which he has only been adding players who can have an impact on our squad. Most fans want change so fast that they look past the day to day improvement. If we had sacked Arteta too early the whole process would of started again. So you should admit you were wrong Lee. Come on mate

Lee thinks if we had someone like Mourino after Emery we would have been challenging with players like Mustifa etc. There was obvious proof of what Areta was doing in changing the whole culture of losing/low standards and getting rid of the deadwood and bad eggs that was strong at his arrival. Fans with a brain understood that a new project was required and Artea was very upfront about this.

To be fair, I agree with Lee that Emery wasn't that bad manager as many people say. In his first season with Arsenal we reached UEL final and remained 1 point away from the 4th place with very average (at best) squad. A season earlier with Wenger we had finished 6th, 12 points behind the 4th place. However, don't agree with him that Ben White has been "shambolic" last season. He was bad at the beginning when the entire team was bad, but became consistently better along the season.
Shame those wernt his views on emery whilst emery was at the club. He was one of the loudest emery out people.
Something that always stuck out to me about Emery is that Arsenal seemed to play better towards the end of halves and matches; it’s almost like they got better the longer they went without instruction from him
