- Very authentic Konkani recipe called "Sushel". This is made with Raw Jack Fruit called Chakko.
In Konkani Recipes we use three different types of "Raw Jack Fruit Family"
Type1 - Chakko/Kadgi or Raw Jack fruit used to make different curries like "Sushel" ( • Kadgi Chakko Sushel | ... ), Chakke Randai ( • Kadgi Teppla Randhay |... )
Type2 - Kate Panas (it will have thorns). This is not jack fruit, but belongs to this family. We make curries out of this fruit. (Kate Panas Randai: • Kadgi Randai | Kate Pa... )
Type3- Jeev Kadgi or Neerpanas (Breadfruit). This is not jack fruit, but belongs to this family. We make "Phodis" or fries from this type. (Kadgi Phodi: • Kadgi Phodi | Neerpana... )

I remember final tempering with charcoal.
Heat the charcoal to red 🔴hot and just push the hot charcoal and just close the lid.
The aroma of the dish is heavenly.

Chakka means JACKFRUIT (Portuguese corrupted Chakka as Jakka fruit and then Jackfruit).

It is a island jackfruit variety.

People from konkani GSB/CSB caste call it Jeevi kadgi
(similar to how the uneducated moslm fish sellers call SALMON fish as Salman fish.
The Tilapia fish as Jilebi fish (first it used to be spelled as tilepi, then Jilepi and then jilebi).
The Pangusus called as Pankaj fish.....🤣🤣🤣🤣 So funny.😉😉😉
