    We are back with one more Jackfruit dish. As you know Jackfruit is mainly available during the peak summer season of Feb-May.
    Raw Jackfruit (Khadgi, ಹಲಸಿನಕಾಯಿ , ಗುಜ್ಜೆ, ಪೆಲಕಾಯಿ ) is used to prepare curries and fritters and Ripe Jackfruits (Ponosu, ಹಲಸಿನ ಹಣ್ಣು) are used to prepare sweets and desserts.Jackfruit is rich in anti oxidants and vitamin A & C. They are a rich source of energy.
    Our Today's special is Khadgi Chakko. Kadgi Chakko is quintessential Konkani GSB Dish It is prepared for Pejje Javan during time of Kodial Theru (Mangalore Car Festival). There are many variants iof this dish in many forms by various Mangalorean communities.
    Ingredients (Serves 10-15)
    Ponosa Kadgi (Raw jackfruit) - 1.5 Kg
    Soyi (Grated Coconut) - 1 full
    Roasted Chilli (Ramnad) - 11 no
    Roasted Chiili (Byadgi) - 8 no
    Chincham (Tamarind) - Lemon size
    Hingu (Asafoetida) - 3-4 g
    Udidu (Urad Dal) - 2 Tbsp
    Kotombari (Coriander Seeds) - 2 Tbsp
    Metti (Meti seeds) - 1/4 Tsp
    Sasama (Musturd Seeds) - Few
    Karbevu (Curry Leaves) - Few
    Salt - As per taste
