    About Me:
    Hey guys! I'm Summer Meyers, homeschool mom to five kiddos, and we talk all things homeschool on this channel. Homeschool community is important to me--talking about homeschool and encouragement to be our best selves for our children is powerful. I love talking home education and really diving into what makes homeschool work. We are an eclectic homeschool, mixing Charlotte Mason, Wildschooling/adventure schooling, and Unit studies. I have kinesthetic learners as well as visual learners who thrive on being outdoors and soaking up God's green earth. I love hearing from other families who are choosing to school at home, so please introduce yourself in the comments! Being at home is hard, and taking on the education of our kids is even harder. Know that you are not alone in this journey and that you can do it!

    As a RightStart user (and we love it!) with a bit of wandering eye for g&tb, I really appreciate the side-by-side comparison! The grass isn’t always greener 😅
    My content creator side also noticed that your storytelling intro and closing (leading to a playlist) in this video were excellent! 👏 I always look forward to your videos and this was another great one. 😊

    Tactile and pretty is exactly what my kids needed. Their eyes glaze over looking at black and white books. I’m glad we have multiple options these days for what each of our kids need/thrive on and we don’t have to pick just one for a whole school of kids and hope it works for most.

    • @SummerMeyers
      @SummerMeyers  Před rokem +3

      Absolutely! When we first started homeschooling, I was disappointed that so many math books were just black and white and didn't feel very engaging. TGTB definitely nails aesthetically pleasing.
      RightStart is black and white, but the student never looks at it, which is what attracted me to it in the first place. But it's like you said, to each their own and we are lucky to have so many options. ❤️

    It is thanks tou you that we are currently using Rightstart A !! I DID print out TGTB k just because I wanted some extra work sheets and.....FOMO.... and guess what? I didn't end up liking it! It advanced so quickly compared to Rightstart! It is impossible to pair one with the other, even if you only want TGTB for their worksheets ( my son loves doing worksheets). So I ended up gifting it to someone else. It is super cute but Righstart just works better for us and I feel so confident that i'm giving my son a strong foundation in math.

    We used TGATB for our first year, and I am so glad it was so good. I love the company, but we did decide to go another direction this year.
    It was because my oldest was so sick of all the cute games 😂😅, and it made her frustrated with the whole process. My 2nd, was going to need to learn multiplication this coming year, and they have flash cards do the vast majority of the work, and I wanted more. Then for my third, it would be his kinder year, and I wanted something with less visual distraction.
    So! The big girls are going to try Math Mammoth (they are excited to work on their own without my help each time), and the little boys (because the 4th will just jump in 😅) are doing Math with Confidence (mostly the price thing kept us from trying Right Start...)

      I have heard great things about Math Mammoth and Math with Confidence. Let me know what you guys think about it!
      TGTB is something I recommend all the time to brand new homeschooling families, because it is so gentle and a great way to figure out how to homeschool. We still use their English for my littles because I love how sweet and gentle it is. I hope I didn't come off to negative about it. ❤️😅

My oldest is doing the Singapore edition of Singapore math and these have high school levels!!! I feel like the word problems helped my older kids so I’m still choosing what we will use with my youngest!!! I’ve bought Math stuff locally so we don’t need to pay extra postage!!! I havent used the new TGATB. Perhaps the old version was more similar to right start- i believe it was less of a tight spiral. We used the old TGATB version and enjoyed it, but we definitely were always digging for game boards & manipulatives, cards, etc, and it got to be a bit much.

      They were never the same company, but originally when TGTB came out, they were just an English program. They promoted RightStart as the math program to pair with. Eventually TGTB came out with their own math and that's why I wanted to compare them to see if anything carried over. They have a great video about it--I've linked it in the description box.
