About Me:
Hey guys! I'm Summer Meyers, homeschool mom to five kiddos, and we talk all things homeschool on this channel. Homeschool community is important to me--talking about homeschool and encouragement to be our best selves for our children is powerful. I love talking home education and really diving into what makes homeschool work. We are an eclectic homeschool, mixing Charlotte Mason, Wildschooling/adventure schooling, and Unit studies. I have kinesthetic learners as well as visual learners who thrive on being outdoors and soaking up God's green earth. I love hearing from other families who are choosing to school at home, so please introduce yourself in the comments! Being at home is hard, and taking on the education of our kids is even harder. Know that you are not alone in this journey and that you can do it!

Wow… this is so helpful!! Thanks so much for the details. What an excellent program! Love, love your explanation.
xoxo
Unrelated, but I LOVE your homeschool organization! It’s amazing! ❤️
🥰🥰 Thank you! We go through a lot of peanut butter at our house. 😆😅
@@SummerMeyersI've watched you for a while now and I can't believe I didn't notice that genius notion until a couple days ago! I try to be thrifty and reuse things whenever I can but somehow that particular idea never occurred to me!
@@katie7748 😆We go through so much peanut butter! 😋
This was really great Summer! So helpful! So funny bc I was actually just looking at this curriculum!
Really?! That's so funny! We love RightStart. Fantastic program! ❤️❤️ Thank you for watching friend! 🥰🥰
I love how complete you are in explaining everything. You gave me some great nuggets of info/education as well as helping me decide if this is for us. Thank you so much. 😊
I'm so glad it was helpful! What other math programs are you looking at? ❤️
We LOVE Right Start Math! Great video. Did level A & B with my 2 oldest. I’ll be teaching 3 levels in 2023. So excited about it!
Thank you! 🥰 That sounds like such a fun year! So are you doing B and C this upcoming 2022 fall, and then A, C, and D the following year? ❤️❤️
This was so helpful ❤️
I'm so glad it was helpful! Love this program! ❤️
Saved this for me to watch later after work ❤️
🥰🥰🥰
Great info!! It’s so nice to get a preview of a product before buying!!
Oh good!! I'm glad it was helpful! Let me know if you try it out, or go for something else! Always interested to hear what others are doing! 💕💕
@@SummerMeyers Well we are in the road right now so we keep the workbooks to a minimum! We are currently using CTC math and loving it!!!
Very cool!!! Road schoolers! Totally get it, and an online program is so handy!
This looks like a great math program! 😍
It really is! I love how it is laid out. ❤️❤️
We are looking into kindergarten math!!! We don’t know what we will use!!! I love the 3 ten 7 method!!! I learnt it and I wished we had done that with our older kids as it helped me.
There's so many options!! 😭😭🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️ I totally get it! And so much sounds really good, and then you watch the next video it's like, well maybe we should do that one instead! Haha! Let me know what you end up going with! 💕💕
I love this review and flip-through, Summer! Your original videos about Right Start Math hooked me, and we actually bought the Level A package. I love all the manipulatives! :D What age do you usually start Level A with your kids?
And you made me laugh when you mentioned how English is basically the only language that handles numbers in a really odd way when it comes to the "teens." SO TRUE!!! I'm guessing Japanese counts similarly to Thai and Chinese (with ten + number) from eleven to nineteen. At first, that was really confusing to me when learning language, but now it makes total sense and I wonder why we don't adopt it....🤔
Thank you! My kids have winter birthdays, so I start them when they are 5 and go slow with them through the year so by the time they turn 6 they are ready for B. Level A though would be great for a mature 3 or 4 if you are really wanting a preschool math program. By the end of A they cover simple addition which is about where you want a kinder to be at the end of their school year. So starting early and taking your time totally makes sense. ❤️❤️
Exactly!!! Asian languages, I think by and large, do that repeating pattern, and here we are doing weird stuff with numbers to make it more confusing. 😅
@@SummerMeyers so helpful! I was so confused about including Level A in our preschool or not because it seemed a little advanced...and if I didn't get to it, would I miss out on the right timing? But what you said makes total sense. Thank you. ❤
Totally fine to wait! Definitely no rush to get to it. ❤️❤️ Trust that mom gut!
We started our 5yo on Singapore dimension this fall. We’re almost done half way. She doesn’t like the workload of workbooks… and is a kinetic learner. Thinking of switching. Unsure how to do that tho. If we switch , how we’ll start with level A? From the beginning or it’s better to switch on her first grade for level B? It seems like it’s good to start with level A since it’s a different solid approach in math. What’s your opinion on this?
Level is A is so much fun to go through! The good news is, even if you don't finish Level A by the end of this school year, all of the concepts are reviewed again in Level B albeit a faster pace. I would just start from the beginning of the book and move as quickly or as slowly as you want. Kindergarten is a great year to explore different ways of thinking and doing short bursts of lessons. Some of the lessons I combined easily because we got through them faster, and some we just did the one and then let it go because she was ready to run and play. ❤
I purchased A and B used after finding your previous review. My oldest will be 2nd grade next year and we have been using math u see since the beginning. I realized mid 1st grade year this year that my oldest wasn’t able to master addition facts and also couldn’t apply concepts outside of the math u see manipulatives.
We have been working through level A with my almost 2nd grader and my nearly kindergartner who is very advanced nearly at the same level as my oldest.) Do you think I should skip level A since my oldest will be second grade next year and just jump into level B? I fear he will be behind 😬
How are you feeling your oldest is doing with Level A so far? Is he grasping it and is bored, or is it easy and smooth? B goes over pretty much everything A does, just at a faster pace. If he knows how to count to 100, go for B! 😊 I'll be reviewing B next week if that helps!
@@SummerMeyers thank you! This is super helpful! I’m excited to see your review on B!
Is there a big difference between first and second editions?
Yes and no. The first edition tends to go through concepts slower, but it does use the same methods as the second edition. I know the price difference can be very alluring, but I would strongly recommend using the second edition because they made some really great changes that makes the lessons shorter and more precise. If you already have access to the first edition, then I wouldn't go out of my way to get the second, but if you haven't bought anything yet, I would definitely get the second edition. Its worth it. ❤
@@SummerMeyers thank you for replying.I was given the whole first edition kit by a friend, I guess I am going to use it and buy second editions for other levels
That's awesome!! Yes, stick with what your friend gave you--nothing beats free! 😁❤️
