Recently I was hired by Alestorm and Napalm Records to direct and animate this music video for their upcoming 7th album! I've never had the opportunity to animate a musical-zombie-pirate-heist, so this proved to be a fun video to produce.

Love how the eye patch was revealed at the end to still have an eye under it and that is accurate it was MOSTLY used to cover an eye for quick night time or dark combat the eye prepped for seeing “ok” in the dark instead of being fully blind like when you just turn off the lights
I like the hint that there’s an eye underneath at 1:24 when he uses the spyglass!

Thsn it would be the best quest in the game
I even got idea how it would look.
You find witch that can make you and your crew look like sceletons and you going on their celebracion/party as some kind of music band. You have to make sure to entertain crowd od they will start suspect something the more crew on stage the more entertained they are. If the crew members a less then they can even losing it and they also could want some specific crewmate to play do he must go or extra lv down. Meanwhile other part of crew can loot there trasures. This all would be challange of time because
-Your illusion spell dont last forever so you must choise how much focus on distracting endless army od sceletons and how much for looting
-While you are playing some other ships can come and take posecion od what you just bring to your ship
-You can exit by just running but then 2-3 high level ship will chase you on open sea... Or drop a big bomb with barrels of gunpowder so they wouldnt know or didnt have strenght to chase you

After the DK 40th anniversary video, I don't think anyone else was more qualified, much less perfect, for the job.
Skeletons are one of my favorite type of Halloween creatures for the pure fact that despite having little to no flesh they're usually the most lively characters. This video captured that perfectly.
Now that there are two pirate captains seeking the Crystal Coconut (referring to the DKC vid) I can't help but imagine what a showdown between the two of them would be like to see who truly would get to keep the treasure!
You can see a couple crocodile skulls with hats on the gold pile when the drummer goes for the crystal. I think we already know how it turned out.

This is CRIMINALLY underrated.
Fun Fact: Most Pirates who wore an eye patch still had both eyes. They would often wear the patches for a different purpose, so when they went lower into the ship, they could swap the eye patch over to the other eye in order to see better, as their other eye would be adjusted to the bright sun and the other to the darker areas of the ship.
This feels like could be a full on TV series and this being it's intro.

Klump is the little brother of captain Scurvy's, on the song of King K.rool Up to the Scale it shows that captain Scurvy, got recruited to Kremling Army that was the why they were on his Ship, because K.rool take it after Donkey Kong Country 64

They’re designed after the band members that sang the song. The guy who played the accordion was designed after the accordion player.

The thing that absolutely blows me out of the water (pun somewhat intended) is that this isn't 2D. It's the best 3D blending I've come across. I don't know how long it wouldn't taken me to figure out if I hadn't seen the bit about 3D models in the credits.

I'm hoping you just become Alestorm's defacto music video guy. The other video you've done for them is so smooth and this is no exception either.
I love Alestorm and it's awesome that they commissioned you to make this! It turned out so well. I love how much detail you put into it even for parts like 1:57 where the shots are there less than a few seconds.

I think the song is pretty good. The animation that you made to go along with it is next-level incredible! I love how many little details you throw in everywhere. I'm impressed how well you were able to bring the mosh-pit of a crowd to life.

This animation is so smooth, you can tell a lot of fun has been had with it. Really admirable.
Absolutely genius. The fluidity, color blending, the consistent style of every object and figure, all are pleasant and easy on the eye. The precision between scenes and sounds is top notch.

This is just amazing. Cinematic-quality animation, in every respect. Smoothness, detail, imagination, all of it, just A+. 110% on the reactor. Warp 10. Crossed-the-freakin'-streams. Marzipan Mascarpone Meringue Madness. Raiding Sian with a rump battalion levels of badassery. Glorious.

Love the animation! I did notice a small inconsistency on like my 5th watch, at 1:24 the pirate Captain held the telescope up to his eyepatched right eye without lifting the eyepatch up. Either way small problem that I just wanted to point out

I dont know how to explain this, but they move exactly how I would expect skeleton rockstar pirates to move. Especially the captain, he has so much swagger to him.
After watching this and the Donki Kong song for like the 100th time, also watching some other animations from you and your crew, I can see reused animations and that the characters are actually 3D animated (could have known when I would have watched the credits).
But dude... top notch stuff 10/10.
