how do u merge?
In object mode, you select both items while holding shift
Then you press Alt and J at the same time

I'm using the reverse method, trying to rig clothing with no armature to my armature, but i need to be able to go back to the original rest pose once it's rigged and i can't find how to do that :( any idea?

when i rotate the arm bone to straighten the sweater armature to a T pose, the shoulder falls in on itself and it looks very silly. can anyone help me!? thanks

Hey me agine but I was making a avatar and every time I uploade it the pov is behind the avatar and I put the pov ball on where I want it and I was wondering if you could help me.
hey, im having a problem with moving the arms up to fit my model. every time i select the arm bone, it moves the chest instead and i can't move the arms at all. any help?
This is because the arm is weight painted with the chest so u go to object mode. then you click on your armature then you hold shift on ur keyboard then u select ur character, and u got in weight paint . after you did this u select the bone of the arm u want and u will see the chest will be colored. u go on the top u will see ( weight - radius - strength ) u bring the weight to 0.00 and color the chest it will remove the chest from the arm weight painting .

i followed every step but instead of a shirt my clothing piece are shorts. the mesh doesnt move with the armature no matter what i do... even if i keep the armature of the shorts it still doesnt work

What keys do you use to merge the clothes to the armature??
im so exhausted, ive spent days watching all the tutorials i can. Your video is amazing, but following it to a t, my problem is still that after i pose the clothes to my model, i choose the clothes first, then my body then hit ctlr+J and it says its all linked, however when i pose my model the clothes dont move, so i did the data set, and applied a modifier for armature as well, and all it dose is make the clothing make a weird pose instead of posing with my body armature.
If your clothing still isn't moving with the body. Keep the clothing as a seperate mesh, select the clothing and shift click the skeleton. Then press ctrl + p and select with automatic weights. Check that weights where painted properly by selecting the skeleton first and then shift click the mesh. Go into weight paint mode and click the bone to see what area it has control over. Make adjustments as needed then go back to object mode and merge the clothing mesh with the model

I wonder though: what would you do if you want to get a long skirt onto a model for example? one that comes with bones? o.o One where just merging and removing the armature wouldn't make sense? ._.
You would just merge the skirts armature with the Body armature and check that the skirts bones are patented correctly for ex. to the hip bone. To make the skirt move naturally is just a matter of weight painting and adjusting the dynamic bone properties in Unity. I have a separate video about those
