WOW! It took me months to figure out the basics of animation and you covered a TON in just a few minutes, wish I'd had a video like this a few yrs ago :D
Me too!! Hopefully this helps many people save that exact time and stress!🤞 thank you for the support
I swear this is the first tutorial that actaully covers this part without getting lost in the weeds
Its funny becouse 2 years ago or so i learned FROM her earlyer videos :p Was nice to be able to recomend phia again when asked about avis. Those old ones where outdated.
Something very important for those of you importing VRoid Models!
You may wanna go into your hierarchy and delete a lot of the phys bones that are provided if you want your avatar to be somewhat optimized. A lot of them are useless, so I recommend going in and seeing which ones you actually can use/want before uploading, otherwise you’ll encounter a lot of clipping and be unoptimized for basically no reason.
Be sure that after deleting from the secondary/body, you right click again and apply to prefab ‘avatarName”. I believe this is only “required” on the secondary, but check your VRChat SDK, as this could be a bug
I’m planning to go over optimization tips in the next vid, so I’ll refresh on VRoid specific stuff like this to make more notes 😆 thank you!
VRoid models just have wacky bone parenting. If you want to properly optimize your PhysBone layout, duplicate the head bone(Hair Root), parent it to the head, and then parent all the hair bones to this new(Hair Root) bone.
Very well explained with great visual guidance. Starting from an FBX instead of an already made Unity package is absolutely the way to go. This video is actually really well done. ❤
after uploading dozens of avatars following your previous tutorials, its super awesome to see you back with tons of new methods!
Surely a much anticipated and refreshing guide. Thanks for the video Phia! This will help a lot of people.
Absolutely amazing, you really just crammed a years worth of knowledge into one video. Love seeing your improvements from where you first started!
This is a fantastic guide! You did a great job on making it easy to follow without missing parts or skipping over things other than the obviously more advanced parts that most players won't even need to worry about. 100% recommend this guide for anybody starting out on their avatar journey.
WOW just in time! I’m working on a 3D vtuber commission atm and was worried about all the video hopping I was gonna have to do. Your tutorial showed up at the second I searched. A DANG MIRACLE 😭 thank you!
Definitely helpful, so much information in one place. I do VRM models myself and use Blender and Unity a lot to make them more spicy than "just" a Vroid, but I always struggled when it was time to move everything to VRChat. Great work Phia like always ^^
OMG TY THIS IS ACTUALLY MY FIRST DAY I GOT UNITY AND I MANAGED TO MAKE AN AVATAR, also you've earned
all my respect and love
This was very approachable, thank you! As a gamedev, and not a technical artist...I find modeling, rigging, and animation very intimidating. This helped make it more approachable and gives me some idea of what to look for in VRChat.
I've been so intimidated by avatar creation for so long, but this explanation was so clear and concise! I have so many ideas for unique and creative avatars, but I'm going to start with a VRoid model to get the basics under my belt. That's going to be so much easier with this tutorial!
I love all your uploads, and I'm looking forward to the tips in the next video, especially VRoid optimization!
Exactly the kind of comment I was hoping to see! 🥲 Best of luck, and hope you’ll share your work in the Discord or join our events to say hi! Thanks for watching!
@@TheVirtualRealityShow I've been to a few events, and I'm hoping to get more involved in this community in the future! You've got a great group of people helping you out, Phia, and you've created one of the most welcoming environments in the whole VR scene!
I was just struggling with my first upload when I got the notification for this video, exactly what I needed! thank u based phia 🙌
Amazing guide 😁haven't touch unity in like ages. What a great refresher. Thanks Phia ❤
Wake up babe🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥 phia has uploaded‼️‼️‼️
Im so glad Phia gave vocabulary for avatar creations. There was some i knew but others i didn't
This is gonna be so helpful for alot of new users who want to upload their new bought avatar! 😮
Right on time. Been looking foward to learn all this things and it will help so much! Thanks for the awesome work!
The physics and motion capture is so incredible
This would have helped a ton when I was trying to make my Avatar. You did literally the best job
thank you for such an amazing guide, this hopefully clears out all the most frequent asked questions about Avatars.
also i love that you are also calling them Blendshapes more often than shapekeys, just like i do :D
I'm gonna be sending this to people as a response to avatar related questions 👏
You did an excellent job on this! 💙
Thank you Ry!!✨
Thank you soooo much! I'm not very experienced with Unity nor all of the VRChat plugins so having a guide like this helped me so much
Great tutorial Phia! You just simplified a ton of info that would otherwise taken many people months to figure out!
Great comprehensive vid! plus its up to date with all the massive changes from the past couple of months
Don't need this for myself as I make my own avatars from near scratch now, but this is an excellent resource for my friends that don't know what they are doing. Thank you.
same but wow she explains it so well
Best video on the topic!
Thanks so so much for this video Phia!
Great tutorial for beginners Phia!
Perfect timing lol, thanks so much!
Love this video! Looking forward to the next one, maybe there's some time saving tricks I can pick up 😁
Omg I was just thinking about starting to make avatars and this will definitely help me!
This is awesome, everything in one place, thanks Phia. Saved this for when i need to do edits.. Keep forgetting since do a lot other things :D
Wish I had this video a year ago I’ve been making my own FBX for a year and even a few things you covered I didn’t know. This video is definitely going to be shared to my friends.
THIS IS SO NICE?? I'm coming back to making Vroids after going on break and this was an amazing refresher! So glad we don't have to put it through Blender anymore
Thank you so much!
I ve been trying to upload my avatar but been having so much trouble!
I tryed to make my own avis a cople of years ago but gave up but now I can try to make it on new again with your help. Thank you so mutch and also I love your content ❤
my mind has been refreshed
thank you, this video is very helpful! during it i also got an idea for an avatar, maybe ill try to learn the skills needed to make one too
this is so nice please, i did not know so many things and this solved so many issues i had with some avis i own but didn't know how to edit.
I FINALLY DID IT THIS IS SOO COOL
Very good explaination on how to do this! thanks
i have been trying for months trying to find how to do such thingss that is so help full thank you
So glad my teacher had me use unity for computer science it makes this easier for me
TYSM U SAVED MY YT CHANNEL CARRER I CANNOT STOP THANKING YOU TYY
hehe thanks for this I never posted hut I been a huge fan for a year ish? I started vr because of your videos! the helps a bunch because a year in on vrchat and i’m still not very good at uploading avatars. thank you so much!
This was so insightful. I think it's time to upgrade my Unity. Please do more videos about FX layers. They look really fun!
That version of the VRM Converter no longer seems to work and I'm having a hard time finding the new version, can someone help me out please!
Great info! Love that I'm still learning stuff to this day, didn't know you could just use online generators to make a normal.
This is so helpful!
Thank you so much for this video!
Ahhhh this was _FIRE!!!_
A few notes:
Poiyomi can be added to VCC.
Toonlit is a good replacement for Poiyomi, but Standard Lite, Bumped Diffuse, and Diffuse are good if you want more realistic lighting.
Thank your video!
I remember having to learn this with several different videos before and it took me so long to upload the dang thing to Vrchat 💀😭
Yes, same! That's why I wanted to make this! ^o^
I am planning on getting my start into VR with the Quest 3 when it releases! I hope you can make a nice simple guide on how to get setup when it comes out :)
that was helpful, thank you.
09:05 WAT?
Been playing with my stream account, didn't' know I had to merge it into a VRChat account so thanks for telling me about it
Awesome. I haven't uploaded anything since they they added the companion and was dreading figuring it out
9:05 That’s some great advice in general.
long live the queen of vrchat
Doing this for a homeschooling course, thank you so much for making it easy to follow ^-^ (I can finally make custom avis for me and my gf >:3)
One thing about the FX layer. Instead of turning WD ON i suggest using a default animation above the other layers to "reset" you expressions (VRC also recommends this). Though I do understand that this tutorial is more aimed at the beginners and this setup would take more time/knowledge.
For the rest its an excellent tutorial for the basics of uploading an avatar. Lets just hope unity 2022 does not put all the effort to waste.
hmm maybe I should finally try to upload my own avatar hmm, these steps make it seem a lot easier then I felt it would.
Thank you❤ 😊
Just in time for me to start thinking about making a new model
Can’t wait to see what you put together!!! :)
thank you for saving me some time by telling me that i need a real account rather than steam.
Thanks :D
omg.TYSM
New model? Looks nice
W PHIA
me skipping to the speed run and only getting that I think I need unity, was so confusing lol I should watch the whole video
You should do one for worlds because there is only a couple of tutorials out there for it
I wish i had this video like 2 years ago.
I'm game have to watch this like 20 times and make my recemended VR chat avatar vids
If it goes the same way it did with ChilloutVR, the migration to Unity 2022 will not be as much of a headache as most people think.
The biggest problem is that some shaders have an issue with only being visible in one eye (which is uncomfortable to look at) but a lot of avatars and worlds didn't even need to be rebuilt.
Fortunately Poi doesn't have this problem.
actually pog. very well done. from video edit with the readable vocab to the Video description.
maybe pin a comment of yours once the other video is out 👍🏾
i never knew u could just make ur own avatars like this
Damn, right after I finished making mine, lol
The next video will still be full of goodies for taking things to the next level 😁
Like-a-roni :)
Another good video idea could be to cover some of the errors in unity and how to solve them
Does anyone know what to do now that the VRM to VRChat converter on Booth no longer works? It just says to download the VCC version instead but I can't find that anywhere :(
I'm wanting to get into VR at some point but I don't know what to start with.. I'll have to save up for a gaming laptop, the VR headset, monitor, and find a cheap yet decent internet service in my local area.
I`m going to need to watch this a few times lol my brain is not retaining it lol
also is there atchuly going to be a video explaining the whole prosses of converting and optimizing vroid models?
This is a well made tutorial! However, due to Unity changing their business model, I have concerns about using Unity. This is probably a long shot, but are there alternate ways to create and upload avatars without touching Unity?
cover the new unity update, will it effect vrchat as a whole to where we cant play anymore? or will they switch softwares and make vrchat better and still playable, will it be still playable?
Very good, I have a question if you can help me. Well, I'm thinking of buying the Valve Index, but I also want to have face tracking. My question is. Do you have any accessories to have eye tracking in Valve Index? if you do not mind.
Walked through the steps of setting up the Creator Companion, downloading unity, installing the recommended packages, only to get hit with 20+ errors on just trying to open unity by itself
I'mma just uninstall everything and pretend it's just magic cause it is
:^)
wow
i miss the old vroid model, maybe we can get a throwback outfit for Phia 2.0?
Actually thought about making a version like this before, would be fun to recreate the fit!
Can you create a tutorial mainly about how to create control on pet ears or tails please?
Phia, can I translate your guide into Russian and reupload it? This guide is amazing! I hope it will help a lot of people!
So for some reason the upload button or anything to do with the editor isn’t even there and I have opened the project through the editor
bruh why is this so complicated
Idk bro I’m just tryna make an avatar for myself💀
I’m a unreal engine game dev so it wasn’t that hard for me😂 (ask if you have questions)
Because we’re not buying an an add on we are physically “adding it on” ourselves
Because Unity hates its devs
@@NumbScxllOWwhat’s your Discord so I can add you for questions
ok so, im making a custom made avatar i made through blender and it says that the armature needs to have shaders, is there a way to fix this?
i have been trying to do whatever it is do upload a vroid avatar (from vroid to blender then to unity) but the fbx file when i put it into unity the textures never show up and it's just a gray model and i'm certain that do embed textures (copy) in blender when i export
I really hope you update this... the tutoral looks amazing, but with the 2022 update, there's no Avatar template anymore...
Update: Found on another video that you just click on the 3D option; however, the VRM converter in the video now no longer works because of SDK3 and tells me to use the vcc community package version instead. Whatever that means...
Umm...what video? Because of how outdated this one is, I can't figure out what to do.
I like liltoon because it's renderable for old pcs but poiyomi is pink
where can i find that vrm converter? it's not in booth
