I need ask amber to show us in depth of the radial puppet now for color change(hair-hueshif), hair length change, object change(props), outfit change, eye change(color or style), dissolve body(gradually goes invisible), dissolve clothes( gradually goes invisble)
There are rather short videos that explain radial puppet animations and toggling in general. They dont contain Amber or her teacherly demeanor, sadly, but they get the job done.

9:27 - I imported a vrm model directly, and I don't see the avatar config (Unity 2018.4.20f1). I select the avatar prefab, I see the visemes but nowhere the Rig component. Where do I need to look? Thanks! This video is awesome!
You'll need an fbx, a VRM model will need to be imported to blender and converted for vrchat :)

The pop up location thing unity gave me isn't working it keeps saying the application doesn't exist, how do I make the thing it needs to work?
I'm so much of a noob that when you talk about fpx and mat caps, idk what those are lol. But I guess it becomes clear.. Thinking of buying a particular avatar, but just gotta learn to upload it and add stuff I can use with desktop only.. (Shy mute curious desktop player so I need some interaction opportunities haha)...

For some reason my audio/song wont play with the emote. I test it in unity and it works fine but when I go into VRchat it only playes the emote. Any idea what I might have done wrong?
I have a project I am doing and the one issue I'm having is having too many polygons and to many materials how do I lower my polygons and how do I combine materials so I don't have so many?
May I ask if I can do all of this just using an iPad or do I need a computer for doing this? Also this is so helpful it deserves not skipping any ads love yah!
You have to have a PC or Mac to use Unity and upload to VRChat.
10:22 CATS in Blender says keeping the upper chest bone currently "breaks Eye Tracking" for the Fix Model Settings > Keep Upper Chest tooltip. Not sure if that's still relevant
also if you add a 0:00 timestamp in the description you'll get chapters in the video ui!
if anyone needs help where its saying in builder that you need a vrc avatar descripter i dont know if she added this in the video but if youre to eager to wait and find out you just need to click on the avatar scroll the the bottom of the inpector and click add component then there you can adust the eye view and more

Marvelous Designer is one that people use for clothing and I believe you can use Blender for making faces and bodies.
Are we still using Unity 2018.4 currently? I got started with the VRC Companion that set me up with 2019.4
been trying to follow along but I am missing all kinds of stuff in my folders, than what you have.. so I get 45 mins in and get lost..
What if the base model didnt come with a head and you have to add one? How would you rig it to mesh onto he avatar
Idk I’d you can answer this but thank you for this in depth tutorial! For some reason the camera position is very off and when I move it the entire model moves instead of the camera!
use the hand tool to move the camera view instead of the move tool if thats what youre useing
When I import the model into unity, the eyebrows are inverted (like the front of the eyebrow in inside the head and the back is outside of the head)
So when I hit build & publish, it loads and finishes, but it doesn't bring me to the upload screen. What am I doing wrong?
I am still having an issue with audio just not working. I have followed the steps multiple times and I just can’t get anything to work for triggering the audio with the animation.

Do you have a VRC account? I don't think it will work if your using a Steam account
It only works for VRC Accounts, Steam,Oculus etc will not work. You can merge your Steam Account with your VRC Account. (If you don't have one, create one)
Any chance you could make a video about atlasing from blender? I try using one atlas and it looks horrible

Amber I would like to find free avatars to start with, they need to be 3.0 right? Or am I wrong? Ive found tons on VRCmods but almost all say 2.0. I know you're just starting out, but you must realize that creating avatars, especially 3.0 avatars takes a lot of time, effort, creativity, and knowledge for a creator to become comfortable with making them. That being said, could you think of asking someone to give away a week or more of hard work and dedication for free? If you value making an avatar that is a 3.0 and you are not ready to learn on your own, it's kind of offensive to ask someone else who already put in the work to give away their creations for free. I recommend buying a 3.0 avatar, the creators price them extremely reasonably and are full of features and goodies to help you see how they did it. Asking for free things is not the way to go when you're talking about modeling and rigging 3D avatars. There are many avatars for sale in my server from many different talented creators, I suggest you check it out, the link is in the description.

my builder tab says "a vrscenedetector or vrchat avatar descriptor is required to build vrchat sdk content" any ideas?
I just had this problem too. Go to the inspector with the avatar selected and scroll down, hit "Add Component." Search avatar descriptor and add it.
That's where I am, but now I'm stuck again because my cursor is freaking out with the blue ring whenever I'm in the avatar inspector. I'll probably figure it out tho

Is the Unity 2020 version not good for avatars on vrchat, quest? that is one I first downloaded until I saw this video, then I downloaded 2018.
2018.4.20f1 is the only compatible version with VRChat. (2017 probably still works but please do not use that lol)
its saying my avatar has no bones even tho I know it does, what can I do to fix this
So this starter pack doesn't come with the avatar but you jump straight to having an avatar. Where do I get an avatar to start working????
there are tons of avatars for sale on Gumroad and in many avatar discord servers. Check out my server for a whole channel of creators selling their work. I also offer a free base in my server that can be added to in Blender to create your own avatar. That takes some practice but I have tutorials for that as well.
my vrm wont import into unity at all on this project, in my other projects theres not a problem with it importing,, i think i might have to put univrm in the project for it to work since im using a vroid model,
EDIT: yes useing univrm to import it did work but the inspect area looks diferent so idk if this tutorial will actually help, ee idk what to do--
You can't import a VRM directly into vrchat, you'll need to bring it into blender with a VRM blender plugin (search for it on GitHub, I don't have the link available at the moment) and then fix the model in Blender using cats, parent all the bones correctly, then export as FBX and then import to unity. That's the only way to get it into VRChat :) Hope that helps!

my avatar didnt have a texture folder that i could find so my avatar is just white ;-;
When ever I click on build and upload it does its future proofing then I get an error saying missing file exception is there any way to fix this?
it shouldn't be future proofing, go into your vrchat control pannel settings tab and uncheck that.
Make sure that you have no empty script components. A good method of approach in finding them is to alt+select the dropdown arrow on your prefab in the hierarchy, then use your down arrow in your keyboard to sift through all the bones or meshes to look for missing scripts. They are typically found in bones that would generally have dynamic bones in them like ears, tails etc etc.
what should i do if the pannel doesnt show on the vrcsdk like its only showing "show utilities"
you may have accidentally added more than one sdk and it fluffed it up.

How can we setup a second emotes menu? I tried various things but nothing worked sadly...
You should theoretically be able to add as many sub menus as you want, or add more items to your original menu and it will create a "more" tab in-game. To add more emotes animations I'd assume you just add more items to the action layer and keep raising the "equals" number up until all of your emotes are used. Then in the menu just correlate the number in the menu. I've never done this but I think it should work...
At 57:14 I don’t see a animation tab at all is there a fix to this ?
the little three-line menu on the right top corner of your assets panel will give you the option to open up the tab

I am a little confused about the animations; are they plug and play with any model or does it have to specifically be the same base? I am using the sims 4 models as a base and they have a different rig, that is essentially the same.
your rig has to be set up for vrchat in blender and weight painted correctly. VRC won't accept anything not set up exactly right. I'd recommend using another base or editing your base with cats plugin in blender.

Poiyomi is a shader and should be compatible with any fbx

What is an FBX? That's the one thing I'm missing and might be what's causing all my problems. I've look it up is multiple source and can't find it
An fbx is the main 3D mesh and bones of your model, usually created and rigged in Blender, and exported as an FBX file. It needs textures to go with it also.
@@AskAmberOfficial The model I got from VRCMods was imported as a Unity project. Will it work the same with that or do I need an fbx. I did end up figuring out that I was using the wrong version of unity so I don't know if that was the cause of all my issues. Better yet if you have a tutorial for it, could you link it to me in this comment.
FYI everyone there's a new unity version recommended by vrchat
