Between this video and asking around in a Discord channel, uploading an avatar doesn't feel anywhere near as daunting as it did the first time I looked into it. Especially when it came to avatars that had a lot of extra stuff needed to work properly and fully. So, yeah, ya gotta like from me and a major thanks for having a clear step-by-step process. do we still use unity 2019.4.31 in (02/04/23)? or has Vrchat updated to a new version like the 2022.3. 6f1 - or does it even matter that much?
Ill always suggest using 2022.3.6 as its the newest!
It comes with some useful features as well
What if you don't have a unity thing for the avatar you want to make, a good example (and also my case): it's a avatar you made from vroid. Would you need the vrm instead or is there a way to get it straight from the unity hub?
There are a few videos for Vroid to VRChat out there, I would try those
This tutorial is more for avatars made for VRChat out of the box
@@PxINKY Ok, I was just going through this video before I went through the video where you talked about making the avatar quest compatible so that's why I was asking.
I can’t get Creator Companion to install Unity. Even I already installed Unity Hub. And it installed Unity 2022.3.22f1.
But it stays on “Installing for over 2+ hours!!!!

with every avatar I try to upload I always run into problems, I followed this video step by step and I didn't get the unity icon in cc. Is it just free avatars are terrible to upload or something?
Depending on the model it could be many things, make sure that if you are importing the model, that you deselect anything you already imported
Some creators export poiyomi with their model (which is extremely bad etiquette), and this can cause such errors

The turtirial was helpful but im having a issue when I click the Build & Publish it greys out and it says building avatar, Im not sure how long it usually takes but it seems to get awfully longer than usual.

I followed all of these steps and i have uploaded an avi before but when i go to builder it says i need an vrc avatar descriptor but when i go to add the component it isnt there
Try out my newer tutorial, As for that I could suggest you either selected the FBX or prefab that wasn't set up properly instead of the scene

4:34 the "control panel" option just isn't present. I have the utilities dropdown, but nothing else is there
They may have moved it around since the last few updates, just check around that top tabs general area
How do I properly install the SDK?
Everytime I upload an avatar to VRchat is says it’s pc only, yet I do use the quest pack, it there any way to fix that?
you must make sure your pipeline is set to quest. a "quest" version only means it ready for it, you have to actually upload it to the quest side
Picture it like 2 completely different games, you must upload the quest one and pc one separately

I uploaded my second avatar without textures and was wondering how to take it out of my VRchat upload list.
You can use VRChat.com -> Avatars -> [select avatar you want removed] -> "Delete Avatar"
Alternatively you can go to VRCSDK in unity, select your uploaded tab, and hit "delete avatar"
it keeps saying "unity editor not found"

well first process would be to make sure that you got it legitly
dont use paid models if you didnt pay for them
After that read the instructions that came with the model you paid for

i need help with every time i open creator companion and create a project if give me a error saying {"isValid":false,"sanitizedName":null,"sanitizedPath":null,"error":"Project is in the same folder as the Creator Companion. Please pick a different folder."} and aother thing when i try to change my project location it keep saying no vaild path selected i hope you can help me with this
if you read the error, it tells you that you are trying to make your project in the creator companion folder (which is a big no-no)
Choose a file location to save your unity projects to like "Documents" or "desktop/unity"
@@PxINKY the thing is when i try to pick a new folder it just pop up "no valid path selected even though i picked one" that what's throwing me off because nothing happen
Go into your VCC and edit your default path for projects under "Project Location" when you hit "Create New Project"

There is but itll require more work to set up. Refer to the vrchat docs

You can convert them into unity, but it requires a little more work. There are some good videos on how to do it! search "VRM to VRChat unity"
Im really nice to all this like i have no history in this sort of thing so im not trying to sound dumb but how do packages get fixed when there's an error on them please help! :((
"most" errors will explain in the debug text whats wrong
if it looks like "blah/blah/atblah/blah" it could be an error with that exact script or object (reading the error will show what exactly is having issues)
If its generic / doesnt state any name / object / position, it could be an error from broken scripts or outdated SDK / Unity (fixed via VCC)
A lot of bug / error fixing is trial and error, feel free to back the project up and try stuff until it works! Also helps with learning in the process!

This is most likely due to an error within your avatar, make sure you followed any provided instructions by the creator
if there are none, check your console for errors

Disable: click the square to hide / disable it
Delete: I select the object and hit "DEL" key on the keyboard

Vrm is completely different from vrchat, vrm is for vtubing. Not for vrchat
execution.bat command prompt? That's a pretty malicious thing to give anything access to, if it is not trusted. Is there a version in the Unity Download Archives that doesn't require giving something like that access to?
I would suggest informing yourself on what a batch file is
Execution.bat just runs an exe file within cmd. Its also written in whitetext, so you can literally open it with notepad and read the code...
You need to run exe files to download stuff

you need to become "new user" rank in VRChat!
To do this either:

> Pay 10$ for VRChat plus for 1 month
Well I'm installing rn but idk if this is for avatars you can just download from the internet, like I didn't make them I just downloaded their files for free ig i'll see

If its just an FBX, youll need to put in a lot more work!

Search that in windows search and then go to the .unitypackage type and change it to unity!
ahh that didnt work but i fixed it by deleting the option to open the thingy thing it kept opening and put in the correct path

What is poyimi? Do we need poyomi do download the avatar we want?
Poiyomi is a shader, its one of the most commonly used / supported shader for PC
Its completely free, with a paid tier for some other misc stuff
Overall its widely used by the avatar creation community, and though not necessary, it'll help your avatar look more colorful

if it wants you to get visual studio then do, its a dependancy for VCC/Unity

Depending on how its setup, you could drag the whole exported / unzipped file into your project

It was a commission for a user named "pika" i blurred it as i want to keep my content as user friendly as possible.

Alternitively gumroad also has some free models! you just need to adjust your filters

so when i uploaded the avatar in unity i could not find it the model

Try reading the errors! They will tell you whats wrong
Also im 99% sure that as long as you read the instructions you will have no issues uploading the avatar you purchased
Next time just put the volume decently loud as possible, because us as a viewer we can always turn in down, plz n ty, your volume is so low sadly.

my avatar when i import it into the project just goes purple
That means you have a shader error, you need to change the shader from "shadererror" to "poiyomi version.x"
