0:50 because tris are better for performance than quads; in fact, if you actually care about performance and are not just interested in the minimum requirements for a VRC performance rating, you should ALWAYS apply the triangulate modifier. Then again, Unity _does_ turn all faces into tris automatically upon import exactly for this reason.

in 2024, if you are getting an error when trying to add the cats plugin, go into the zip file and copy _init_.py to your desktop or somewhere, open the file using any text editor (for windows users, notepad works fine), and o to line 319 (close to the bottom. You can also ctrl+f and search for bpy.context.window_manager.addon_support and it will take you to this line). At this line of code, remove ,'TESTING' (make sure to remove the comma and leave the brackets). After this, save the file and drag it back into the zip file in the same location. Bada-bing bada-boom, reinstall the addon and you're good to go.

it won't let me add on the cats master plugin like at all so I'm very stuck im not sure where to take it from here, it just says error.

The beginning is great to the part where we load the model but lost me once you added your own made up avatar. We did not get to see how to take the base that we uploaded which had no clothes to the one you loaded which was fully clothed hair and all. Lost me because we did not see how to do that.

Hey, my CATs install did not come with the Material Combiner (aka the atlas generator). There is a link in CATs to download it but it leads nowhere. I have something like 13 different materials. Is there a tool in Blender that will let me make the atlas manually?
