Seeing the avatar then hearing his voice lol
Not what you were expecting? I like to surprise.
Lookin kinda cu-
OH SHII
OH SHungite
After years of internet train it was what I was expecting
this must be your first, yeah thats vr chat for you any thing that looks slut is usally a guy not a women
This is how vrchat be, pretty girl avatars behind deep man voices lol
You either pick a mass produced Eboy avatar or live long enough to see yourself become an Egirl
@@Aggrotard you merely adopted the Egirl. I was born in it; molded by it
A very boring monotone mans voice
@@Aggrotard Hey, I'd like to make an Earth Model. Where I use planet Earth itself as my vrmodel, but it has a face, can you please help, I do not have the skills to do all this 3d modeling stuff, and I already tried with vroid.
I mean you know what Girl means right ? Guy in real life
All the comments about people shocked of a dudes voice coming from a female avatar clearly have not played VRChat.
Thanks for the awesome tutorial man, this is perfect!
i have played vrcha before
@CelpoToons afterall that is peak male performance
Absolutely true
Have they even played an MMO?
I wasn’t surprised at the masc voice but I was surprised with how deep it was. Like babe, need a cough drop?

now they think im gay

To be honest, Its just kinda funny listening to a guy talking with a female demon avatar on.

That is the entire experience of vrchat lol
First time
Seeing this when it's my first time using blender makes my brain hurt.
same here
saaaaame. trying to adapt from pmx editor..
@lemon demon I actually have a phase 3 avatar friend me my user is Kade's Skin
Same here dude! XD
I already used blender to make some stuff so i'm very familiar with it, i'm actually having an easy time
Man when i see things like this i get so overwhelmed but learning how easy it is once you stop overthinking about all the extra stuff you dont need its a weight off your chest

Aggrotard, I have to say out of all the videos I've seen on building then uploading avatars to VRChat, your two (Lesson #1 & #2) are by far the best! You are so thorough and explain things so well that even an oldie like me (61) can follow. Thank you and well done!
Thank you for the comment, it really made my day. When I started making avatars I had to watch multiple different videos just to get through so I wanted to make one that was as thorough as possible
Glad to see some older folks getting into vr, it's great that we can all enjoy this amazing technology
And here I am following exact instructions but stuck staring at a thing that looks nothing like what he's working on, with zero instructions. He mentions to do the bone snapping while saying it works the same as clothes. Ok great, let me find some hair because the avatar he told us to get is missing the back of its head. Now there are 20 more bones and I don't even know how to make it line up. Come again about his thoroughness? Oh right, he forgot to mention this isn't for people who have never used blender before. Got ya. Lemme go find something that is actually thorough. Like the girl who spoke clearly and gave multiple examples on how to build a home in vrchat.
@@XiaolinDraconis Salt
@Official Siren been a while but iirc there were some things that were helpful in this, it just wasn't a tutorial a all. He skipped steps a lot, gave unclear instructions with missing steps. Not a tutorial at all, more of a demonstration.

You can select the whole mesh that is connected with it.
You can combo that with hiding parts of the mesh so it makes it easier to select specific parts of your mesh.
I've been in the model-making community for a couple years now and these are the most helpful tutorials I've ever seen.
I met someone in vrchat with a really cool avatar and he recommended your tutorial series to me. I'm really enjoying it and learning a lot :)
Same
I just recently discovered your channel after wanting to create avatars on my own. Thank you for a straightforward, explanative tutorial! It's SUPER helpful! :D
Things that sound weird when you say them normally, but sound normal if you are a 3D modeler. : The bones that come with your hair.
lmao
You don't have hair bones?
I cant with this comment

Excuse me what is a *hair bone*

I want to be immersed in this culture for some reason. I feel drawn to it. I’ve only played VRChat for a total of about an hour now, but I feel a special connection to it.
Yeah it's very fun, and fun to make avatars
Howd it go?
Me too, like it can take self expression to a whole other level, it's so cool.
watching this makes me feel like i missed a week at school and am coming in with no prep like what does tda mean
You have been such a great help, one of the few people out the who is good at explaining! Thank you so much for the great help
Everyone's comments: was not expecting that voice with that avatar xD
Me: where tf do i get clothes to import
Right? That's my question
check on www.deviantart.com/ assuming you are looking for clothing for a vrchat model just search vrchat clothing you should find something to work with
there is more you can find im sure but this is the best i can do
Same EXCEPT im looking for a decent base with hair
@@veezbeez4015 deviantart is your friend in this case, look up "mmd base dl" on there
This dude is awesome, replying to the comments about the avatar vs the voice. Beautiful sense of humor.
Thank you for the simplified and awesome information.
Fantastic tutorial. Step by step and you made it simple for a blender noob like me
If I ever tried to make a model myself in the end it would just be a cube with a smile on it. If I could even figure out how to do that much
Try Vroid studio a go. You can export the model and find a video on how to export it into vrchat! The model will be very time consuming if you try make it perfect or exact but trust me it’ll be a bit easier
Bless you for taking the time and effort for these videos!
Omg u save my life like I was don’t know how to make a avatar but tysm
Im having trouble getting/making clothing
You can go to deviant art and search tda clothing, mmd clothing, or just vrchat clothing
Thanks for the great & easy to follow tutorial! Got the hang of it.
aghhh the hoodie part was so satisfying lol
Your avatar looks so cute and adorable
I don't have vrchat but I really wanna get it just to create these characters, it looks so much fun.
thank you so much! i was reall ystruggling to find a good tutorial i messed up a few parts allong the way but youre discord was a great help!
I was watching so i have some idea of what to do whenever i get my pc and i must say thank you for making it so easy to follow!
*sees the name of the video* eyyy a video finally recommended for me that I wanna actually watch
mans speaking in lowercase

I wanted to go on VR Chat, but then your avatar reminded me what it's like on there.
currently making my avatar thank you so much for helping me out :))
best tutorial imho
Holy shit finally a good tutorial
This is a good tutorial man most ones I look up are speaking way and I mean way to fast and you kept it super simple to follow
you are the most helpfull person ive came across today, thank you!!
I have another question. So when I go to sculpt anything especially the boots it likes undead itself and I can't do any work. How do I fix this?
When I'm adding clothes it adds it to the scene collections instead of just the collection where the checkmark is and when I fix the model it makes it into a new armature. What should I do. (I'm a newbie :3)
It should turn into a new Armeture, then you either merge the two Armatures or delete the armature of the clothes and merge the remaining mesh with the mesh of the Body like i did in the video
i completely was not expecting such a deep voice from this video
Fantastic video! I learned a lot.
Can you do a video on how you made your avatar look like that? Like changing skin color and adding things like horns and tail?
Yeah I will do a tips and tricks sort of video where I'll show how to edit textures and simple stuff like that
@@Aggrotard where the vid at :(
Yesss! I need that too!
Idk why I expected a girl doing this tutorial but like once I heard that fabulous deep voice I kind of jumped XD

thankyou really, i've been trying to make my own character but idk xd. Thx !!

Hey! Ive been trying to do the steps for grouping the mesh(so far i havent been following your steps because they arent the most helpful for the newer versions) and i havent been able to and spent 2 hours working on grouping it. Could you make a tutorial for the newest version of blender? Thanks.
Your voice is really amazing, I'm glad that's your real voice
wow I love the avatar looks like I have a lot of work ahead of me to begin my blender fun!

BEST TUTORIAL EVER THANK YOOOUUUUUUU
thanks for making the tutorial, one day I'll have my own avatar
Hello Aggrotard, I have a question for you. I am struggling with the weight painting process. When I click "fix model" I get a long error and when I try to pose the avatar, the bones move but the rest of it doesn't. Any ideas as to what I could be doing wrong?
how tf did you manage to import a model into blender?
Oh my thank you so much im making a dark laytex and a light laytex furry from the steam game changed thank you so much now I can fill my dream thank you
this really helped me understand thank you
Ur the best, ty for this tutorial!
Thank you for the video: 2 questions! I'm having trouble with 13:42, do you select the armature already attached to the clothes and delete? When I separate materials, I don't have an option to select body as a source object for the clothes, is there an extra step I am missing? Thank you again!
Yes, if the hoodie or whatever you're merging lines up with the rest of the body you can delete it's armature and just merge the meshes together. After separating your "Body" mesh might be named something else too, this is model specific. You can go to Edit mode and click on the body and go to Materials (the red ball icon) and it should show you what the material is called.
I do not know wuts up with each tda file thing it just does not wanna go in all it says is the error and I have no clue wut to do?
Thank you for this! I couldn't export the blendshapes with the model for some reason. Your video helped me fix it!
I like how you talk, 'cause i'm french and it's better for me to understand when you speak slowly 😊
Good'ay Aggrotard. Im actually having trouble with getting my cats plug-in to register in blender to start install. Great videos btw! Ive been going through them all.
Download the Cats ZIP file, in Blender go to Edit-->Preferences then Addons and click the Install button on the top of the window and find the zip file. After install search for Cats in the same window and make sure it's checked
Hey i cant figure out what unity editor im on its not showing what yours does
This is a Blender tutorial, for VRChat you need Unity version 2018.4.20f1, i'll make a tutorial about that soon
thanks dude I made my second avatar that’s pretty fire 🔥 🔥
I think the experience of seeing the avatar and hearing the voice that came out of it was enough of a sharp turn to snap my neck
If you are having issues (like me at first):
Check if Cats supports your blender version (aat the moment of writing this 21.03.2022, the newest blender version (3.1) is not supported by Cats)
Blender 2.93 works without problems!
thanks! This is exactly what happened to me and wondered why nothing imported. saved me a headache
How do I switch to 2.93?
Idk why, but i find it hilarious that im creating an alien from a video game with little human resemblance, but im watching a tutorial on how to prep a demon anime waifu for Unity
I approve of your model :D
Omfg i cant get to the end of the video!!
His voice is so chill and relaxig that makes me sleepy jajajaj
in atlas it tells me to “install pillow” after i click that it says “installation complete please restart blender” then when i restart blender it shows “install pillow” under atlas still.. any suggestions?
Did you figure this out? I'm having the same problem!! Apparently, it might have something to do with the fact I'm using a Mac but I don't know what to do!
I am too but I'm using windows
Yo guys, when i go to import a base it gives me an error stating that there is no "mmd_type" on the object. So does that mean it is purely searching for mmd type ones and I cant use the one on the video or is there a way to just make it grab anything ?
Having the same issue
@@Magic-pq5td Yo, try putting an older version. close the program. and then come back to the newest version. idk why but that's what I did and it worked.

I was trying to import the model and it keeps saying the model isn’t in the file in an error code. It is very much there, but it’s in a zip file

Good to know
I just make a model with hair and clothes. I am doing exactly what you say to merge the meshes but its not working. They are turning blue but they won't merge, PLEASE HELP! ANYONE!!
and my hair bones aren't connected to the head bone EVEN THO IT SAYS IT IS. this is hard 🥱
idk if its just me, but when i load in a model and click "fix model" it adds unneccasary bones and then the bones dont move with the mesh anymore. do you know why this is happening to me?
I really appreciate what you are doing here teaching people for but I want to scream. 19:01 please I beg of you just click the L button on the shoes. 17:14 the rig isn't at an extreme yet it's messed up, you will want to click the weight painting button and subtract the torso from the weight paint so it doesn't do that in-game. You should also remove the extra topology that isn't seen like the torso so you can optimize it so that it runs better. I stopped watching at 19:01 but just know what you are doing is awesome and would love to see more advanced tutorials in the future
this video is a fever dream
Yeah... gonna subscribe.
every time I try to merge two bones with shift + ctrl j it does nothing
Click on your Body armature, Shift+Click on your Hoodie armature, move your mouse over your model and hit Ctrl+J and finally Fix Model. After this if your hoodie doesn't move with the body but is still merged, move on to the Data Transfer part at 15:02
@@Aggrotard i selected both armatures but ctrl + j does nothing, any ideas?
yeah I'm having the same problem. I tried ctrl + left click and then ctrl + j too but still not working. I have to open the Armature menu and add the main armature to the parent section of shirt. But when I do it this way it is not moving with the arm and body
@@hyle315 Alright try this, select your Body armature, SHIFT + click on the other armature to select both, move your mouse over your model and hit Ctrl+J and finally Fix. Also make sure you're in Object mode when merging
One of the tools that seemed to help a lot is the Elastic Deform, it helps for grabbing large parts
*_I was expecting the normal e-girl voice to be all "helloooo everyooooone!", then I hear a deep "Hello there" and I did a spittake with my bottle of water...at w o r k._*

man I'm running into many issues lmao, idk really want to get into this but constantly do something wrong. I've tried like 20 times and still something doesn't seem right ^^
Keep at it and you'll figure it out eventually, it took me at least a few months
@@Aggrotard the problem i currently have, is that blender tells me when i want to click fix model after I'm done adding all clothes and stuff that multiple bones are missing that were there before
@@acyrosriven if you click the wrench icon next to Fix Model you can uncheck Delete non weight bones or something like that, what i usually do is manually delete any bones that the clothes have before working on them, this way you don't have to worry about the bones getting messed up when merging
