I’m with Dave Wyman in that I REALLY want Michael Conforto. I know Seattle missed out on signing him as a free agent (they didn’t even bid on the damn gem), but 2 year deal for 36 mil with Frisco right now is not horrible, You’re essentially replacing “one ball Haniger” with an absolute Howitzer arm, great barrel rate, and pretty dang good Joey Votto slash line. Plus, he can’t possibly look more awkward in right field than one ball Haniger doing bad ballerina impressions. What say y’all?
This guy would be something of a buy high, and he comes from a hitter's ballpark, but what about Ryan McMahon? I note he's actually hitting better outside of CO....
I don’t think the performance of our offense is motivating Dipoto or Hollander to sell the farm to get 1 guy. one guy isn’t enough to turn the offense around.
If we keep this up, look for them to thread the needle again.
And how can you argue it?
Look at what Julio, garver and polanco are doing…
The rest of the offense needs to step up before Dipoto well spend big on a guy, I think anyways.
I agree. The only thing that can change that, is if suddenly, the Mitches, Polanco, and especially Julio, all start hitting like they're capable of.
As it is though, we need a first baseman, a corner outfielder and a second baseman just to stay above .500
Love tucker, would buy his jersey if we traded for him. Similar to last year, I think we’ll hope our guys get better than replace them. Ty France is slugging better than Polanco, Crawford, JULIO, and both Mitches.
Do we need to trade for bats? Or just hope those 5 guys can OPS over .700?
i know you talked abt Jazz in your other episode, but honestly since the marlins selling house if we could get jazz and Josh Bell that be a package id like to see!
Isn't jazz notoriously a clubhouse cancer that nobody really wants to touch with a 10 ft pole
Just not sure those guys are “sure fire” impact guys
Great show guys, 2 things 1st if we gave the huge hall for Luis Robert's I would want prelander Beroa back too. 2nd I think we should keep an eye on Randy Arozarena, I know hw hasn't been killing it but he may just be unhappy with the Rays
Thanks so much for watching! Randy is a good call! And truthfully all three of those Rays guys could be options (Randy, Yandy Diaz and Isaac Paredes)
Can you guys do a “thread the needle” potential trades video?
Sure!
These guys sure know how to fantasize !
good luck getting a good bat.......very doubtful......but fun to dream on......I guess
I mean I’ve never seen a Jerry Dipoto lead Mariners make a trade for an sure fire bat so I’m gonna refrain from getting my hopes up. I could see a Tommy Pham move but I think moves like these make Jerry’s brain short circuit, he’ll never risk it for the biscuit, 54% baby lol
Yes to Brent Rooker. Should have gotten him last year with Trevor May as well.
We can definitely buy into the idea of Rooker!
Great stuff as usual guys. I'm also hesitant about everyone but Alonso and Walker (and Tucker of course, just can't see that happening in a million years). I think Alonso will hit you more dingers but Walker brings more overall value. Hoping the Diamondbacks keep losing!
Thanks so much for following along! Yeah the rental pieces make a lot of sense, it’s just a question of if the Mariners would agree to trade for a rental bat or not
(And we can all dream about Tucker 🫡)
I would guess a trade for sewald/christian walker sending back france and a prospect or 2 would be a move they could make. Salaries would have to offset of course because 💰💰💰💰💰
The Mariners inquiring about a Sewald/Walker package would make a lot of sense! Would definitely say that’s possible
Power hitters don’t adapt well to T-Mobile Park. Vladdy, Alonzo would have their power sapped as soon as they stepped foot in the batter’s box
Wouldn’t be totally sure about all that. But yeah, there are some hesitations
@@MarineLayerPodThe mariners are a ringless franchise.
Haven't watched yet, but NOT LUIS ROBERT JR
Scott needs to start trusting spier again I know he’s been poor but if he doesn’t have confidence in a player why would they maintain confidence in himself.
if we’re looking at Oakland, i’d look at Toro as much as Rooker
Toro is having a good go around the ballpark. I wonder if his current play would follow him back to Seattle. Too many guys just struggle in Seattle.
Rooker has never played for Seattle. So, I’d be more interested to see what he can do
Toro is awful. We’ve already seen that. But he’s just the kind of non-impact bat the Mariners would trade for.
TJ is right on board with you!! 😂
Houston is only 4.5 back of the Mariners. Houston would welcome it and Seattle would get boned. Houston fleeces the Mariners and will be get great again very quickly and Tucker would sign with LA or NY after next season.
Again if the Mariners were to actually make a trade for him, it probably means they think they can extend him. If they don’t think they could extend him, they probably don’t ever make that trade
@@MarineLayerPodRemember getting swept in the ALDS?
@@anthonymartinez0865 remember cheating? Y'all garbage
Yall are sleeping on Troy Taylor
Oh we like Troy Taylor!! Maybe we need to talk about him more but we think he has a chance to get up to the big leagues this year
@@MarineLayerPodThe mariners are a poverty franchise with zero rings.
The Mariners will trade for no one, lol. You’re not new to being Mariners fans, don’t be naive.
Who would you LIKE to see them trade for if it was up to you?
@@MarineLayerPod Seeing how the Mariners ruin every single hitter they touch, I don’t think it matters much. But if it were up to me and I knew the Mariners weren’t going to ruin the player, I’d go with: Luis Robert Jr, Bo Bichette (we need an upgrade at short), Vlad, Burger or Kepler. Another guy I think who would fit well here is Jaren Duran. We need more athleticism/speed on this team and I like his relatively low/average K rate. Before we he was traded, the perfect guy would have been Arraez. He’s precisely what this lineup needs.
