Easy to do with Tesla I've been driving race cars along time and cutting good lights.
But if the car's doing it for me what's the challenge. Let me see you do that behind a car with power with no electronics Helping.
Is it possible to put 4 nitos on and then wet all 4 tires and do a awd burn out? Or does the car not like that? That would be ideal. Wonder if any software exists for this if it can’t? But you’re a smart guy I’m sure if it could be done you would be doing it right. The reason I ask is because I don’t own a plaid but certainly interesting to see how these work and what they do/ don’t like, along with limitations/strengths so when I ask a question or give a suggestion it’s not to be a know it all or to cast shadow or to be sarcastic mainly to help and learn nothing more.
@@joshreynolds729 The only way to spin the Plaids tires is in Drift Mode, which requires that the steering wheel be cocked at a sharp angle. Pointing our car toward the Jersey Wall in the burnout box would be foolhardy.
The front tires are fine as they are, only 340HP on front axle. Rear has 680, that’s why we make the trade off with those heavier Nittos. No reason to put heavier tires up front 👍
@TeslaPlaidChannel Let me see put it in launch Mo press on the break. Hold the gas down let it rip.. Let me see a car power breaking catch a good light reaction time. Good yeah. You're not talking to. A dummy. No electronics I was racing cars when you were in diapers.. Green Valley raceway looked that up. Did you just start racing when you got a Tesla? have Have drove a car with real power.
@@392scatpack3 You think the Tesla’s “electronics” have any bearing on Reaction Times? Dang, that’s a new one 🤣🤣🤣 Most gas cars we race have TRANS BRAKES and ELECTRONIC DELAY BOXES for a better Reaction Time. The Plaid has nothing of the kind. We are 100% foot braked, which requires MORE SKILL of course. (Anyone familiar with drag racing knows these things, which explains why you don’t 🤔)
I am ADDICTED to these videos! Great work Andrew!!!!!
Tearing it up at second 6 I see. Epic!
👍 Great runs that night Greg! And your recent run against the Lucid Sapphire was EPIC 🤩 (coming in my next video)
Greg you got that COPO dialed in!
Hey Greg, long time work buddy of Andrew. You really add to the show and its great to see you guys chat about the runs.
Greg. keep rocking these amazing runs!
Great job Andrew. Enjoyed those races. Love seeing a daily driver going up against these home built and even trailered beasts. Keep the vids coming my friend.
Thanks for showing us your runs along with all the amazing vehicles out there with you! I don't have a drag strip nearby, so this as close as it gets to the real thing for me. Love the videos!
👍Right on! At the end of the day, it’s actually more about the OTHER cars 😃
That COPO is smoking !!!
Gregs COPO is just so powerful hahahah its absoloutely insane!
Greg's got that car dialed in now!! I admire all cars. American muscle and the Telsa. Just insane how fast that thing can go straight off the street.
632ci! Great to see so many blokes passionate about getting older metal down the track. Thanks for a another great show Andrew.
OK Greg, now you gotta tell us what you are running! We want a full tour of the engine bay...
Hard to believe but that COPO is 100% stock with only new ignition coils and plug wires. It’s a factory-built race car from Chevrolet, including the parachute and wheelie bars! 😃
Good runs! That fire looked scary! Interesting comments from Don and Steve. There is a lot more involved in building, prepping, and tuning those racers to get the most out of them.
I love this stuff. So cool, just the sound of those engines make my heart beat faster. just so darn cool!!!
Nice work Greg!
Love that 60's Chevy muscle. Great action Andrew.
The Nitrous Nova Vs COPO would be wesoem to see
Awesome, I used to read comic books about this drag racing back in the 60;s loved it
How fun, what a great run Greg, Thanks for the videos Tesla
Love how the best view of the Nova was from the rear camera :)
I am so glad bro driving the Mustang is ok. It looked really bad watching your footage, but thankfully it happened at the end of the race when he was braking giving him time to stop and ditch. He also did a amazing job avoiding the wall and other driver's car. I think I would have panicked in his situation. So the only racing I will be doing is in video games. I leave the real thing to you guys lol. Be safe.
Always good seeing Don on this channel.
Greg’s copo is bad ass!
Love watching all these fast cars!!! I still love my 24 K5 GT though its kinda fast lol
Crazy how it takes a non street legal mega hot rod to beat a Plaid.
Plenty of street cars, drag/drive cars that can beat the plaid.
Yes the are not stock,
But check out sick week,
Over 200 mph street driven cars.
In 1/4 mile.

Ah, like the DONKS? Yeah, they are amazingly fast
@@Psalm-yg6yino not just donks actual drag cars big and small tire to. Ranges from jdm cars to old classic muscle cars to really what ever you want to build then they compete over days driving to tracks if I’m not mistaken for each day. Steve Morris Tom Bailey and many others have done it it’s even been featured on 1320 video many times along with trc.
That Nova is street legal. He just has to change the tires…
Great work Tesla Plaid!
Greg has a newfound confidence after beating the Tesla Plaid. That is why his second run was so fast. You boosted his confidence.
Love watching Greg's COPO as well although I'd more enjoy seeing him destroying Hellcats and Demons.
They are unfortunately not remotely close to his times. The fastest ones we’ve seen in Florida are very highly modified, and run high 8s in the 1/4 (about 5 car lengths slower!)
I'm surprised your times weren't even faster after that detail job. Looks great!
I know, right? 🤣
Hope to see ya tomorrow Roger!
Great video Andrew!
Great racing!!
You will not believe it, but you have fans from entire globe. Greetings from Bulgaria. Didn't missed a video for last 2 years. Keep up the good work. ;)
👍 Wow, thank you! Hello from Tampa Florida! Great to hear that you are enjoying the coverage from our local dragstrips! 😃
Great video, these episodes are extraordinarily entertaining and informative. I've never been a drag race enthusiast, but love the Tesla Plaid so I follow this channel. Here's the interesting thing, I was at a function the other week and got taking to a chap who's a real enthusiast, and I found I was able to have a really great conversation with him. It seems I've learned an awful lot about drag racing without even knowing it!!
Can't wait for the next installment!
Keep 'em coming!
👍Thanks for the kind words. We seek to entertain as well as educate. It’s “Edutainment” 😉
Even the people who work there and see runs all day really enjoy a good run. (see 8:00) 🙂
I loved that part! 😃
Great video!
Jesus bless you homie mannarino. Good stuff
Would be nice for these tracks to get 50kw chargers. I would pay the premium to just top up instead of going back to a supercharger
Man, at 2:39 I had to go back and review it. I didn’t know you cut a few seconds out. I was thinking, damn what a short shutdown 😂
👍 Indeed! We try to cut out the moments without dialog or action to keep the videos shorter 😃
Buenas las historias.. gracias. Y para competir con esos vas a tener q pedir a Elon q saque el roaster! Jeje😂😂😂
The Roadster looks awesome! Muy Bueno!
More cool cars. Love how the COPO is working for Greg. Nasty fire, glad it worked out ok for the driver. Dons Nova was looking like a handful. Is it usually that rowdy?
Hey BB! Indeed, Don’s Nova is rowdy with the NOS, which he doesn’t always run. He’s been racing brackets without it for consistency. But he wanted to win on this night, so after making a few “demonstration” passes without it, he decided to put it back on right before our run 👍
Man oh man! That COPO is getting its groove on! I have a question Andrew. Do you plan on getting the Roadster or do you have a reservation for it? It would be really fun to see that against the COPO or the Sapphire!
It will be strongly considered, but a reservation in Dec 2017 was a losing bet. That same $50K invested in $TSLA stock instead? It’s worth over $250K today, enough to buy the whole car! 👍
Indeed! Tesla stock has skyrocketed since then!
Nice❤
Funny as you get older your views change, I was always bowtie and Mopar for the longest time and to think nowadays after Tesla came on the scene over a decade ago when I hear the revs I only think slow and obnoxious unless at the track, then it brings back fond memories. It's just being older I'd rather be safe going down the track in a reliable grocery getter than constantly spending piles of cash to risk my life in a sketchy combustion vehicle for the short time you take it off the trailer.
P.S. After Tesla came on the scene I only can see ice strictly for track entertainment purposes only unless you can constantly spend enough to keep it on the streets as a daily driver but why do that? Unless it's for car shows which being from the motor city I can still appreciate.
You make some very good (and realistic) points! As we get older and find nicer homes, the neighbors don’t seem to appreciate those loud noises when we get home from the dragstrip late at night 😳
and for those who arent going to get cancer from the emf poisoning? 😂
@@effigy42 do you mean running the exhaust into the car to keep warm? Well according to the media it's completely safe since ice cars run on pixie dust, unicorn farts, and sweet dreams.
@@effigy42 🤣🤣🤣 “But almost all cars, including gas powered vehicles, contain EMF-emitting components. Many cars are now equipped with Bluetooth connections for phones, radars for crash prevention, back up cameras, and provide WiFi hot spots, to name just a few examples. All of these components emit EMF. In fact, some informal testing of EMF levels from cars found that *gas-powered cars registered EMF readings just as high as electric* cars. Consumer Reports also did some testing back in 2010 and found that the Chevy Cobalt, a gas-powered car, emitted far more EMF radiation than the Toyota Prius, a hybrid. Given that nearly all cars are sources of EMF radiation, it is important to look at cars individually, rather than by category, in weighing the risks.”
Don nova my favorite car in the channel
👍 We’ve had many great races over these last 3 years. Maybe two dozen? We also love that car! 😃
Nova is Siiiick!
👍For sure! And his upcoming new 1250HP 440ci motor!?! Gonna be nuts, he can barely keep the front end down as it is now 😃
Great vids by the way. thank you@@TeslaPlaidChannel
Tom!
👍 He’s always helpful for traction ideas! 😃
How slow was there reaction time to get EMS down the track? 😂
They need faster vehicles 👍. May I suggest a Model X Plaid ambulance?
Have you had a race car before? Or bought a Tesla and went racing? Just curious if you built a race engine and transmission before. The excitement of running something that you put together. The Tesla is a perfect street car on no prep. I have the machine work done on engine and that's it. I put it all together even the transmission. Has to be worry some just to deal with battery charge! Lol. 👍 Thanks for sharing
Took auto shop class at 14 in 1982. Worked at 15 and bought first Camaro (‘74 350ci) before getting my drivers license. Bought second one (‘69 Rally Sport 327) the next year. Installed race camshafts in the driveway, intake manifolds, carbs, etc. Installed a B&M “shift kit” in a rebuilt TH350 that same year. Installed NOS later. Wrecked the ‘69 racing, almost died, then bought a ‘78 Z28 with no drivetrain and moved the 327/TH350 into it. First car bought new was in ‘89, a 5.0L 5-speed LX foxbody. Put a 175HP fogger on it and M&H Racemasters. Was enough to dominate on the street in 1989. That was 25 years ago…
Everyone should get to feel the satisfaction of tuning an engine themselves. Understanding timing advance and fuel selection. Troubleshooting failures (as we still do with our track buddies, including Greg). Very satisfying to solve such issues.
Ps: The Deist harnesses saved my life when I wrecked my Rally Sport at 19. Thankfully I took safety seriously even as a teenager. Noobs watch these videos and regularly ask: “why is he wearing gloves??? He’s not even turning!” Dopes. 🔥
@TeslaPlaidChannel I totally agree on safety. I watch these guys riding motorcycle doing crazy stuff and they are wearing just a T-shirt. I know what your coming from wrecking. I losted a 540 big block cuda and spent 6 weeks in the hospital. I'm in my 40's and I'm still paying for that wreck one way or another. Be brother and keep posting 👍
Dave , how much power did you make with your 289 engine in the 60s and 70s ?
“Dave’s not here man” 🚬
czcams.com/video/ACfNSqsi_mE/video.html
Beadlock rims with slicks Andrew 🤔
Believe it or not, our buddy proved that full slicks are slower than these Nittos on this car. He set a Plaid world record when we loaned him *this set of wheels and tires* .
And then in ideal conditions, we’ve found the Pirellis to be faster on our car 👍.
In lower temps, we need a burnout, but not safely feasible in a Plaid.
Oh Andrew, just when I was about to congratulate you on your pro tree form.🤣
You mean 21:55 ?
Whoops! 😬
That’s what you deserve LS swapping a mustang!!!
Hey Ted, in our NEXT video (next Sat), you will see a fast white 75mm turbo Mustang Cobra that says 6.0L on the fender but that one is actually a 363ci small block Ford. He says everyone assumes it’s an LS, like the Fox in this video…
Every time I’ve seen one at a street race, it got smoked
Sorry but a 632 is not a “mountain motor”. Mountain motors are at least 5” bore spacing meaning they are at least 700 ci. As slow as that Nova was for a 632 in a small Nova I’m guessing it’s a nitrous car and ran NA? (Posted this before your interview with him). I think that guy needs to spend more time on his chassis and suspension set up. It sounds like he has too much power for his chassis.
As for the other points, the Nova driver (Steve) explains it all at 23:45 and yes, it’s a Nitrous motor that’s never been squirted (on the west coast, they say “squeezed” 😉). Yet it ran 6.04 (as fast as the green NOS Nova in the 3rd race) and supposedly was dyno’d at 1100HP on motor only with 1000 lb-ft of torque. TH400, 5500 stall, 4.30 gears, 1250cfm. Indeed, suspension tuning is always the secret sauce to getting down a track 👍
We enjoy comments where guys say things like “It’s not called ‘giving the hit’, it’s called ‘giving the move’!”
Or how about: “It’s not called ‘soda’ everyone knows it’s called ‘pop’!”
Many guys disagree on terms...
Like one builder site that says: “any engine with more than 500 cubic inches of displacement was labeled a “Mountain Motor.”
And: “454-cubic-inch engine was considered a big motor, and anything over 500 inches was referred to in awe as a “Mountain Motor”
Call your Pepsi a “Soda” or “Pop” or “Cola” or whatever you like. People are gonna continue to call a 632ci STREET CAR a Mountain Motor. (That Nova is a door-slammer, not a pro mod…although maybe you’ll propose why this Nova is actually something else 😉)
"You didnt have a chance" hahaha copo destroyed that toy car
🤣🤣🤣 ”Toy Car”? YES, Greg self-describes his COPO as a TOY since it can’t be driven on the street. It must be TOWED. It’s never been used in any of the ways a REAL car is used: Travel, commuting, grocery store, errands, etc. Nope. Not a real car. Can only be used for track fun, nothing else. Now doesn’t your comment look particularly dumb? 🤣🤣🤣
Hilarious how no one asks him about the plaid because there’s really nothing to talk about. Zzzz 😂
Welcome to the Channel. First time? Over these last ~2000 timeslips we’ve had plenty of guys asking how much battery it uses, what can be done to modify, tires and such. We don’t usually include it in the edit, but sometimes. Also note that gearheads don’t usually stop and stare at the stock Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers, etc. We’ve all seen ‘em, nothing to talk about. We are there to talk about the interesting builds! 👍
Yeah those consistent low low 6 sec factory cars are so SO boring from an arm chair racers point of view .. ...lol....🤣
It takes no skill to drive a plaid, computer does it for you. In case most people don't know this old cars are moded cause they were not built for speed back then.
Yet it takes skill to hit a perfect 0.000 Reaction Time. (No computer does that for anybody.) Here’s one of ours: czcams.com/video/rNBlgvR1R8o/video.html
Just proves the point a Tesla. is not a race car. It's a giant battery that takes no skill to drive.
Says some guy that likely never once hit a perfect 0.000 Reaction Time. (We already checked your “Channel”.) Here’s one of ours: czcams.com/video/rNBlgvR1R8o/video.html
@@TeslaPlaidChannelwtf do you mean they dont even have gears 😂
@@effigy42 You don’t have any 0.000 Reactions either, we checked, so that makes two inexperienced racers talking out of their …
News flash: The VAST majority of Hellcats (and 392 Scat Packs!) are AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. The driver just points it straight and presses one pedal. Takes less skill than an EV 🤣🤣🤣
You can literally say the same thing about any other automatic car. 😐 And hey, guess what? Literally every car on the road today has a battery in it 😂 you seem to be mad that the Plaid can smoke almost everything out there, but it’s okay. Tesla will only make faster cars than this. 😉
@toxicgamer1119 They have a battery in it but I don't have to recharge that b**** do it. Some clouds are never been on the light in their life. It doesn't take much skill to drive a Tesla. Put it in launch mode Press the brakedown Stop press the pedal to the floor let it rip. How much skill Did that take. And I don't just drive a scared pack. Have A? Fox body 75 mm Turbo 347 stroker 356 gear 400 transmission would a 150 Shott upon NoS.
You are just making up excuses for losing. LOL
Explaining the changing track conditions to viewers is now “excuses”? That comment is the real LOL 🤣🤣🤣
