I like the tinkering almost as much as the flying.....so a bit more assembly/reengineering suits me fine! Saving a few bucks is a bonus!
I used to enjoy that more back when I was first in the hobby and buying lots of Hobbykind stuff. It was super pretty but way heavier, and always left me wanting for better performance....well not always, but often times.
You guys are fun, keep up the good work. Someday I will have a beautiful camera crew too, Lord willing, if the creek don't rise, but, if it does, I already built our ark! I currently have two planes and have had at least ten quadcopters. Your channel has been very informational in helping me decide my second plane, the UMX 30mm A-10 Thunderbolt "WartHog". I have owned my plane for almost a week now, however, I haven't had the perfect opportunity to make my maiden. I had a friend of mine give me a mini Convergence VTOL, so, I bought a Spectrum DXse radio and have a blast flying this great craft through the Tucson, Arizona desert skis as often as I can charge my one Eflite 11.1 800mah battery. Thank you again for producing your fun, witty, and painfully truthful videos😘. Don't ever change, always be truthful, keep the faith and may God Bless You and Yours, Now and Forever.
Thanks Mike! We appreciate your kind words, and hope you can find your own camera crew too ;)
P.S. you're comment was duplicated, so I deleted the duplicate - this happens sometimes..
Love the looks of this plane....My first Dynam was a DHC-2 Beaver w/floats and wheels. Was a simple build..and still flies fantastic..Bitco Hobby is a great provider. Kudos to the cam crew!
AWESOME! Glad to hear! Wish the retracts worked on this otherwise awesome plane!
I have learned how to beef up and manipulate Dynam retracts. I beef all of them up before I fly, a little 5 minute epoxy and seating circuit board and they will actually work, I Eli even the guy on assembly line takes a lot of smoke breaks. They are not fully assembled correctly
LOL!
I hope these companies appreciate just how influential you are to someone's purchase. I'll use myself as an example. I am planning to buy an srtf from Bitgo. I was really undecided and this was on my short list. The fact that you made such an immersive video has made the choice for me. Your videos are an awesome reference to have when building or flying a new model. Honestly if a plane has one of your reviews I'm more likely to buy it because I know there is a vast amount of information. There's no guessing about set up and cg etc which I've had to do on some nice models but with very little CZcams presence.
Thank you for the kind words, and hope that others see things this way too ;) We love doing this process, and so glad we cane help you make this sometimes difficult decisions between two amazing planes!
I found a quick easy fix for keeping the landing gear from bending so much Brian...Place a Fat Dollop of Hot Glue on the back side of the gear stem where it meets with the servo it will still fit down into the pocket and function as normally does
Bian Phillips we were skeptical of the ol Cessna 550 having gear trouble belw 55 degrees this just validates a lot of confidence my husband has when he checks your flights and planes out BEFORE BUYING
Nice, and thanks! Dynam has had all sorts of issues with retracts, but seems they've worked out the 50-60 degrees F issue of the past ;)
Easy Dynam build of the plane:
Now the trade off: Terrible retracts.🤔😖😳
YEP................. Too bad, right!?!! Sooooooo close to 100%
OK BRIAN, after a full nights sleep, I woke up still thinking about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre to the retract housing. I definitely would have went a different way with fixing a new plane. "That being said", the amount of planes you receive in the mail seems to make u numb to it. That looks horrific! In 10 minutes you could have removed the strut and bent it correctly...Like u said, "more than 1 way to skin a cat"....OUCH! I definitely would have gone another direction. Great Flight tho!....thx..
I tried that too - they didn't clear. The hacking was necessary, but still ineffective. Yeah, I hated to do it too. What needs to be done is have a METAL retract with more strength...then probably a thicker landing gear bogey ;(
As for the hack job looking terrible - I agree. I could get it looking good, but it would take some time. I won't waste any more time on it if I can't get it to function well. When you get yours let me know what you think - it is an otherwise VERY good plane. One of the best Dynam's we've reviewed, less the gear issues.
@@BrianPhillipsRC I will do. Definately going to get one. I might just plan on better retracts from the start. It does seem to fly fantastic in all the videos I reviewed..Its going to be 58 wed and 63 thurs here in western MA!..3 planes to maiden!..Keep em coming!..
That oscillation was something else. Just love all of your reviews and learn so much in building and repairs. Thanks so much. That prop sure is not going to fall off.
LOL!!! I had one about fall off on the P-51D 1.5m....but a lot better design,so we heard it, and fixed it when we came it.
Are the wheels suppose to toe out or toe in or just straight ahead? Thanks for your help.
ordered an ec 1500 can't wait to fly it
AWESOME!!!! you'll love it!
Your plane is very beautiful
Thanks!
The Dynam retract housings are essentially 4 nylon sticks on a flat plate so the sticks are not restrained very well by the epo due to lack of glue and waggle and bend and the top plate ( viewed from top of wing )comes loose . On the T28 I reset the whole lot in gorilla glue to restrain the whole thing, sticks, plate etc then adjust the rise and fall/angle to drop with washers under the black servo plate. In an ideal world buy a proper back box and start again and buy a better retract unit, at least you wont have to cut out the wheel wells.
When I built the Dynam ME262 I was aware of the Dynam retract mounting problems so installed proper back boxes and better retract units from the start, so for those buying this plane it is probably worth doing this BEFORE you fly
The T-28 had AMAZING gear compared to this one ;)
nice
typical Dynams,,, POS
Beautiful warbird Nice flying as always Brian and as always thanks to Camera Crew we get a great view of it all I just really hate the retracts wasn't up to par far as not wanting to get in and out of the hole on demand That's what she said hehe Other than that Dynam surprised me with the fairly easy build design They are normally pretty good with durability and scale looks but the build process is lacking to say the least I'm really thinking about getting a Warbird but I don't think Dynam will be my first option lol for obvious reason's I'd love to see more second thought flights of all the planes reviewed in the last month or so hint hint hehe I think I speak for many other viewers also lol I know the weather hasn't been working in yalls favor so its perfectly understandable but pls do when weather permitted God bless y'all hope Camera Crew is feeling much better
I agree - That IS what she said ;)
As for keeping, keeping on - We will - Challenge accepted. I filmed in SHORTS and FLIP-FLOPS last night - OH YEAH!!!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Cool can't wait to check it out edit I should add I'm not talking about checking out your shorts and flip-flops lol Although I am glad for y'all not having to freeze y'alls balls and tits off to bring us some awesome vids lol I had to come back and check out the full build I didn't have time the other day to watch the full video I absolutely love the warbirds They are my favorite by far Thanks for the awesome vids guys and God bless
Man I watched this the day you released it, but have watched it over 5x here in the last 2 weeks. I just picked this gorgeous aircraft up from Banggood for just over $200 (PNP) tho it sucks about the gear... I'm super excited. It'll be my first real warbird. I have the 800mm fms t-28. Which is such an amazing aircraft, but I feel it's still not a full warbird. Lol but thank you for this video, Brian!
Good luck. If you decide the retracts are not worth screwing with, you may want to leave them DOWN.
@@BrianPhillipsRC I think that's exactly what I'll do. Then maybe upgrade them to a more reliable gear set later on. Again, thanks!
3200 to 3300mah batteries all the way forward in the battery bay will get you the best flight performance penetraits the wind much better as well.
I see - some of these planes just need a little nose weight to be happy
@@BrianPhillipsRC especially Dynam Planes cause they are notoriously light to begin with
Brian if it can be done the hole unit needed to turn out about 1/16 of a mm.
I believe this would saved cutting out the foam.
The problem with these gear is that the next landing it'll be mis-aligned ;( Too bad too, since this plane flies GREAT!
Brian, another good review. To be fair, the gear design on the FW-190 (full size/real) was precarious from the get-go. It was really the only real weak point of the plane in WW2. Now, throw that in with Dynam's reputation with retracts and you have a recipe for a 98% chance of a frustrating experience with a great flying plane. Dynam may have issues with quality control, retracts, etc., but almost every plane they put out has the aerodynamics and flying characteristics nailed. As you have said in many of your Dynam reviews, they are "project" planes. If you are an RC modeler, Dynam's are great. If you are an RC "assembler" either avoid Dynam or be prepared to become a "modeler".
Another way to cure the Dynam retract curse is to only buy their planes that haven't got retracts. One example of that would be their Waco (by the way Brian, I'm waiting for you to do that one).
A comment for Megan: Your knowledge of each plane's build and systems is excellent. Without you by Brian's side, builds and maidens would not run as smoothly as they "normally" appear. As for your camera work, I don't know what your vocation is/was but you clearly have talent as a videographer. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing your (and Brian's) next production.
Thanks for the kind words, and agreed about the "project planes". As you can imagine, I don't like to "muddy" the waters if the stock plane will perform well, but so many in the RC community will make upgrades to brand new planes...something I didn't even do BEFORE I was reviewing them for MFG's... I basically want to show the real deal, and this was very regrettable on this plane, since it's a GREAT PLANE, otherwise. With
@@BrianPhillipsRC Keep doing what you are doing the way your doing it. Honest reviews can only improve the RC industry and community. Thanks for being there.
Hi! Really interesting review... Looks like a good plane but was thinking about buying the better looking Dynam BF-109 instead- Is there any chance you could do a build and review soon as I'd be lost in the build without it and would like to get one for easter :) Thank you and keep up the good work!!!
Good luck with your BF-109 ;) We don't really do Dynam's anymore. We have a contact that can get them for us, but we just can't handle the frustration to enjoyment ratio. I think the filming of our RC experiences greatly exacerbates this effect, while an average joe would be totally fine working through the pitfalls of the Dynam experience. At least that's my 2 cents ;)
What do u use for auto leveling on these or do Dynam now come with?😊
That's built into the Rx! Nice tech for a very good price!
Great looking plane but my main field is grass :( If they do a version upgrade with better gear, I might give one of these a go. Another great video. Thanks Brian and Camera Crew!
I can't disagree. The retracts and bogeys need to be beefed up, then it's a great plane.
Crush it with the Tractor
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.... it's not THAT bad... I'd use fireworks anyway when I'm ready to retire it ;)
Mr Brian cool as a cucumber and camera crew holding her breath .lol good job.
Thanks!
Those landing gear servos seem weak. Maybe that contributed to the problem. Another excellent video.
They are, and the bogeys are too weak, but the plane is otherwise one of the best Dynam's we've reviewed ;)
Two washers in the back of the leg solves the problem, no cutting needed!!!
Under the retract bodies??? - Where???
If you mean at the base of the bogey, that would force them INTO the well worse...
@@BrianPhillipsRC The wheels are to far back, so I placed some washers under the rear two of the four screws, which hold the Retracts in place. This saves the Prop on landings, less nosediving. The retracts close and open easier, so I don´t have to cut out the foam. It works for me the last four Years :-)) Greetings from Germany!
Nice plane, I am getting really good with the eflite extra 3D and I am hovering and having lots of fun!!!
AWESOME! Me too - last night did it myself :)
Brian nice job flying this touchy beast! 😄
Thanks! She flies great, but retracts....ummmm, not so good
Beautiful plane. Ashame about the gear. BTW, the Conscendo Evolution one of my favorite planes! Take that guy off your Christmas card list!
LOL - Will do!!! Thanks :)
I am lucky to have gotten my hands on a Top RC FW 190. Have you seen this model. The retracts and retract doors are awesome. Just a shame they're not scale but the planes look identical.
AWESOME! That's a big one!!! Very cool ;) I bet you've got thousands of dollars tied up in that beauty???
@@BrianPhillipsRC actually no it's an older 1200mm foam. I wish I had the other one and was a good enough pilot to fly it. I actually just went out today got Spectrum NX6, (3) 3c2200 Smart Batteries and the Smart Charger. Just getting back into hobby after bad car accident (drunken driver but I'm alive😁) 5 back surgeries. It's been 7 years since I've flown. Now if my wife doesn't kill me for the $$ spent I'll be in great shape. Thanks for your channel and help.
Thanks brian, on all the tips and how to's on setting up my NX10 & AR637T in a Arrows Bigfoot. Too bad on the Dynam retracts. T28 will be assembled next.
Awesome! Good luck ;)
We have the NX8 sitting taunting me in the box right now!!!
Hey man I new to rc planes and your videos have been grate help. I’m from pa so we have good space to fly but when I’m ready to get my first jet I don’t know if I have space. Others say jets are for airfields. Next to me I have a baseball Field with about 400ft. Is that good Enough? How do I find local airfields.
Depends on the plane. Sometimes you can get away with it. I flew from a 375 foot paved parking lot for years, with a simple handshake agreement with the building manager, and we never had issues. The 375 was CURB TO CURB...and if you didn't have a good takeoff, you'd be in the building or in a tree... I never really had an issue, but if the wind was cross...we had about 1/3 that distance!!!
The Habu would be totally fine in your environment, and it's a great beginner plane!
Here's a link for your consideration -
Habu STS 70mm RTF - bit.ly/3fRaLj7 - czcams.com/play/PLXTH0DstRDc5fYbIobNAtMUz2EoT7FGLl.html
Still new to the hobby so I have to ask. Can you fly a dynam on a spectrum nx6?
Yes, if you use a DSMX or DSM2 reciever...aka a Spektrum Reciever. You can buy these planes as a Plug and Play (you put in your own receiver) OR you can buy them as a Bind and Play - then you need to use Dynam Transmitter, OR a Smart Ready to Fly - you will get the radio system...transmitter and receiver both included with the plane.
The ONLY reason I review these planes with Dynam transmitters and receivers, is to show that they can work. If I were buying it myself, I'd buy PNP (Plug and Play AKA PNF Plug and Fly) and use DSMX receivers.
Hey Brian :) Thank you for sharing nice video. Sometimes, It makes me think that how many people have private RC runway just like you? And, If I keep buying RC planes like you, my wife will froze my card. (You are blessed to have such an understanding wife. ;)
Yes, I am. If she froze your card, maybe you could get another one ;) LOL!!!
Brian could you do a video on the Draco 2.0 from e flite? Very curious about it. 4 prop .the bird very detail looks like a great looking bush plane. I was thinking of the carbon z cub until I saw this one. Characteristics are very much like the cub. Want to know your feelings about it. Thanks PS: I know it does not have to do with this video but wanted to get an answer from you . Thanks again.
We are doing it. I have one sitting here ready to do, but we CAN'T do it now...super bummed. We have to wait for a few more weeks, and I can't even explain why :(.... Sorry, and if you want to see what we thing of it, hang tight, but if the Carbon Z Cub 2.1m is your think, it is AWESOME - we HAVE reviewed it and you will LOVE IT!
@@BrianPhillipsRC ya I will wait I am realy curious about it . It looks so cool in other videos on utube but your the guy I listen too. You disect it better from build to setup to flying it. And in my book you complete it! So hurry up ! Lol stay safe and thanks for your videos. I'm big time subscriber. You the man!! PS: And your camera crew does a great job making you look good.
Thanks topgun 53 ;) Believe me, we would do it yesterday, if we were allowed. It's a bummer for us, since we're really excited to bring it to our channel.
@@BrianPhillipsRC no problem il wait. thanks!
Dr. Brian Phillips paging Dr. Brian Phillips 🚑
LOL - very nice!
I noticed Detrum radio reciever gains are set too high on the roll axis about 20% I always pull it down 15 and 15 and also set expo 5%
That sucks about the gear sometimes they work perfectly 😆
I agree ;)
Brian is there any chance you could get a camera on your remote so us learners can see 👀
hey they recntly made a v3 version and i just purchased one, i’ll let you know how it flies
hopefully the gear problem is fixed and the minor imperfections that you mentioned
I love ❤️ your videos no bull shit nonsense just a bear facts.
Glad you see this! Thanks RC Nutball.
P.S. Dynam makes it so hard for us to give a glowing review ;( I want SOOOOO badly to have a 100% that I can just smother with praises...but I always seem to have one of the issues..
1) frustrating build to extremely frustrating build
2) servos too small (not bad quality...just undersized)
3) linkages not free (bent inside or glued a bit)
4) pinch hinges too thin...not enough material to depend on the foam...needs reinforcement
5) retract issues, something I thought we had stricken from the list from Yester-Year, but I guess not
The GOOD NEWS is that we will be reviewing a NEWER Dynam soon, and we'll see if they've fixed some of these concerns!
Listen to the 'camera crew' 🤔😉🤔😉😂😂😂
LOL - exactly!!
have you tried this on 3s i really want to see it fly on 3s
No, but it would be pretty doggy, if you ask me. The 4S was a great pairing. If you don't have a 4S, you will want to pick one up, or you'll be real slow...BUT she will probably fly okay.
Dynam, tisk, tisk, tisk. Maybe Dynam landing gear should be like that pesky elevator Asian thing. lol Now for FLAPS and after market landing gear. 😛
I don't want to waste any more time on it. The hack job I did on the mains was a proof of concept, but that failed ;(
The eflite wulf would be 3 times the price..? is it three times the plane?
Yes, If I could send you a picture, you'd see what I'm talking about. It's about 3 times as big. Also it's more detailed, and retracts are phenomenal!!!
THAT BEING SAID, this plane flies great, but the stinking retracts kinda ruin the plane ;( If you don't mind spending $50 on some better retracts with metal gear and housings, you'd probably get away with the relatively weak bogeys.
@@BrianPhillipsRC cool thanks man 😉
Does ic5 work with xt90
I just tested it with my adapter...YES. The IC5 Lipo WILL fit into an XT90. If the pins are at all LOOSE, just stick a Phillips Head into the pins to make the "leaves" expand a bit, and you're golden!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC i cant belive that i thought it was a fluke for the ic3 to to work with the xt60
Hi Brian
Hi Robert!
Where are the description timestamps
Not there.
If you want to make the time Stamps, I'll "Heart" your comment to bring it to the top ;)
Great plane except for the Focke-ing gear. Wulf is up with that?
LOL - EX-ACT-LY
You really dig into these Dynam planes but seriously is it worth it? They all appear to have problems.
I know, but YES... I will keep mining the internet for the best Dynam ever... ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC Keep it up! One day maybe you'll get it.
Love how the Dynam models look and their offerings. They just not there for me to buy, YET
Try one some time, and you'll be surprised how well they CAN fly....while still making assembly difficult ;)
could you do the elite havoc please!!!!!
They aren't sending that one...sorry! I will be doing something super good soon - keep an eye out!
transmiter ??
Are you asking what it is? It's the Detrum Gavin 6C - very economical option utilizing the Dynam Rx'es...link is in the description for this and the 8 ch.
Regarding the field fixes, I'd bet you really love making it your own
LOL - I know. It's so much more work. I've added retracts, and KNOW not to waste too much time on these planes if I can't get the gear to work.
If one wanted this plane to work, stronger retract assemblies (physically stronger cases, and more POWER), and thicker bogeys would make it work. The bodywork on the plane STOCK, was REALLY NICE - WAY nicer than expected on a Dynam, from our experience, so if one wanted this to be a "keeper", it would be an extra 2-3 hours and maybe $50-100 more material.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Hoping that Dynam pays attention your mods and takes action to improve their products, better flying for everyone
Brian, listen to Camera Crew, she is always right and you are left.
LOL - nice!
The "pits" can also mean its a load of rubbish
LOL - yes
Had a smart battery on a smart charger go up in flames Saturday, ihavetwo smart battery s that want to completely discharge them selves had I not been right there could have burnt house down.
That's scary! What battery, and what charger??!?!?!?!!!?!
What was your charge settings? Do you remember?!??!?

Hi Brian , I see you don"t use your DX18 these days if you need a GOOD HOME for your DX18 I CAN GIVE IT ONE, and really take care of it. Looking forward to your reply. Thank you.
LOL - I'm surprised nobody has asked yet...but can't give her up just yet - Need the ix20 first.
Sorry
@@BrianPhillipsRC Yes ok, but I am your first love for your DX18. Please don"t forget. Thank you.
Love seeing dynam... more eventful.
imagine how disappointed youd be if you bought this
LOL - That's why I share them ;) Our frustration is your pleasure - LOL!!!
Dear God Brian. I'm sitting here watching the tire hit the foam left in the bottom of the gear pocket and you kept cutting more foam away from the top portion. Besides the fact that the gear needed to be bent forward more after the 1st landing. DiscoverRC had the same issues with the retracts.
"Best Dynam we've built"....hmm, it's still not any good through.
It was frustrating. I wanted SOOOOO badly to just have a GREAT experience. I do think they can make it happen, but it's kinda UP to Dynam...
please doo the elite havoc please please please ?!?!
I probably won't be doing it - they aren't gonna send it ;( Sorry
I didn’t read the title at first and I thought it was E flite 🤦LOL.
OOOPS - sorry - NOT CLICKBAIT - I promise. I had the same issues when I was processing the Second Thoughts Videos ;) Coming soon
I love you to bits you know that but allow me to rag you a bit here, nothing I haven't said 10 million times - I honestly think you have been a little spoiled with stabilization, there's absolutely no need for it on this butcher bird and as you saw it actually was a negative on that flight - that said I promise I knew the retracts would fail, it's the main reason I am only deciding to pull the trigger on this old model now, Ive learned to immediately replace the retracts on older Dynam warbirds, this thing needs much bigger wheels anyway
Did Dynam send this model to you for review or did you waste your money on this thing? I just wish they’d put more energy into making their retracts reliable. I just don’t understand why they sell their kits with such shitty landing gear at any price.
I can't disagree about why they don't improve these retracts. They barely worked BEFORE the first flight... too weak (power wise), case too weak (needs metal case OR bigger ABS), bogeys are too long for the size of rod used.
Like I said, the REST is GREAT! sooooo, why can't they just fix this item? I know it's a cost issue, but really, I'd rather have fixed gear that work...
Thanks Keith!

@@BrianPhillipsRC I can contest to that
Ohhh Nooo Another Folkem Dynam... 🤣
Yep - JUST for you Grump ;)
Never been a fan if Dynam planes too many little issues
I can understand this sentiment. I guess, I review them to help bring light to the potential buyer, but at the same time, I think Bitgohobby is working hard with Dynam to iron out some of these issues. If they're successful, Dynam will be a GREAT Option, and economical too!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Brian, love what you do, Dynam srems to use us pilots as there quality control they then don't fix it they introduce another plane with problems, and or litte quirky problems.
I'm really noticing that Dynam planes aren't that great lol.
Nah, they're just project planes, and I don't modify them before we get them in the air - they're definitely "hit and miss" ;(
LG in this plane from Dynam are a POS,, too much more cost to make it gooder
